RE: DL-50 engine
Thanks Bob,
The first time I had this problem I was tould by DA that the problem is in the cap, That under pressure in the engine that the spark would fail, It turned out that I purchase a new egnition from them for a wopping $150.00 installed it in the plane. the engine started and off I whent untill last weekend,
again I spoke to DA and sent them both egnition in to them, they said that they have a machine that test the spark?
So will see I will keep you informed of the results,
I do whant to thank you for all you have given us all in the RC world.

RE: DL-50 engine
Thanks Rammjett,
Trust me I do not make the same mistake twice, That Christen Eagle has a DL in it and after five flights I have no complaits with it so farr, and if I have any more problems with the DA I will end up with two DL's

RE: DL-50 engine
That's a good idea,
I will try that some day if I come a cross this problem again,
It's funny to me that I have no problem with my Brillelli 46, G 62, and my new DL 50, and I set up all my plane's the same way and only the DA gives me problems, I wonder if their's a clue in there?

RE: DL-50 engine
I'm sure you have probably checked it, but the DL cap fits VERY tightly on the plug, and can be sort of "partly" connected, still spark sometimes, and miss. Could be the miss you had....I know all three of my DL (RcExcell)ignition caps are really hard to put on because they grip so tightly.
But once on, they ain't working themselves loose, I can tell you that!!!!!!!

Hey Bob
don't for get the spring in the cap that help's make good contact be tween the plug and the cap as well,
Infact DL gives you a replacement spare spring with the engine,

RE: DL-50 engine
Hi All
I have been lurking on this thread for ages. Finally bit the bullet and got a DL 50 from HK.
Maybe this is the first one in Japan? The only props I was able to get hold of locally are a xoar 22x10
and a 23x8 which one would you guys recommend for the break in?
Don't think I stand much chance of finding any "lawn boy ashless" around here! Going to see what they have
in the home centre for weed wackers in the morning. Hope to get all the bits together to do a bench run this coming weekend.
Finding the NGK CM-6 plug was easy! Plan to put this baby on a Black horse models 180 cap. Cant seem to find much info
on RCU about this plane. This is going to be my third gasser. I have a Ralph converted G26 on a CMP peashooter and a 2.4 Brison
on a 140 sized cap. Being the only "foreign" flyer at my field I want to get the engine running sweet before .......

RE: DL-50 engine
might want to be careful brench mounting this engine or any engine i herd mounts could break.if you think about it the bence dosent absorb mutch shock.i just waited&ran it in the plane to be safe.as far as the prop goes 22x8 for break in.as far as the oil goes any mineral oil should do.i think both your props might load the ingine a bit mutch for break in.i just used a cheap 22x8 zinger fro break in.you dont want to let her get to hot the zinger will really let her rev with out mutch load

RE: DL-50 engine
you have the right prop for when the engine is ready.just take your time and trust me you will love this engine.broke mine in .in the air with the zinger22x8 is nothing like my xoar 23x8 but still flew ok.when she breaks in you will know their will be no way to continue using the zinger just starts reving to high.then change the prop. watch the revs and have fun

RE: DL-50 engine
If I buy another couple of props they will have cost more than the engine! I think I will take your advice and do the break in in the plane.
I'll just take it easy with the props I have or I could use a 20x8. I think that might be too light! over revving is more likey to do damage.
I think I will start with the 23x8 and keep the revs down.
Anyone outside the US recommend a good shop to order props from? Being out here the shipping is a killer.
Your help and advice is greatly appreciated. This is such a great hobby, crosses so many borders and cultures! When people at the field here ask my nationality I just say I'm "Radioconlish" they just nod in agreement! Happy landings!

RE: DL-50 engine
just i little tip for for them that have not seen this i noticed at our field guys trying to adjust the carb with engine running.scetchy at best with a bouncing engine with all that wind .just glue 2 straws from your local fast food joint together glue a piece of light ply as a mounting flange at one end drill small hole over adjusting screws in cowling then slide straws over adjusting screws.problem gone weighs nothing and is a lot safer.

RE: DL-50 engine
yah dude 20x10 to small just use what you have but take your time and watch the temp.the idea realy with the smaller prop just lets the engine run freely to where you want it to go with out dammage from heat.it will get thier with bigger props it just takes longer and you heve to be more careful.like breaking in a car engine and having to use 2 gear
