RE: Area 51 engines
Hi everyone. The reason I am using Lawnboy and then Amsoil is that is what Milton recommends and he is the one that does warranty
and service on the Area 51.

RE: Area 51 engines
Thanks for the responces gents. I agree the revs some racing motors rev to do make up for a poor ring fit when they are running at maximum. Low end torque or pull out of the courners i critical in any motor sport..Drag racing and ovals apart.. and the ring fit is critical to give maximum low end power.
What started this was a heated comment in another forum, where some rather outspoken gents were saying "YOU MUST NOT RUN SYNTHETIC AT THE START" this had me thinking and you know how dangerous that is.
When I buy a motor I hope its going to wear out rather than crash of get sold, I have never sold a motor in my life and still have some very old OS, Irvine and Rossi in my garage. I have one Irvine in my Cougar funfly that has done well over 400 flights of 8 mins and still starts first time. I have ruined a few motors from forgetting to dry fuel out and not using it for some time, and yes crashing a few, but most still work.
I am about to order a second Area 51 for my pits, to replace the Moki 2.10 as I am fed up with flame outs during the flight for no aparent reason.
On a different point, I have a new custom exhaust coming for my Sukhoi, is a bit undersize compared with the normal design of canisters, but its all that will fit. The company making the canister and header is only charging just under £100 ($180) complete and its going to be 60mm dia and 200mm (8") long, with a header length of 100mm (4").
I have a sound meter so will post sound and RPM results with standard exhaust and custom exhaust on here when I have them, as I feel it may be usefull for others using an Area 51 in tight places.

I plugged up the old two sets of holes on the firewall of my PAU Edge last night. I also plugged the 4 out of 6 holes on my Xoar prop. 2 of them can be re-used on the Area 51 4-bolt pattern. Just gotta order a new Ultimate style Tru-Turn spinner and I should be set.
I may break in the 2nd engine this weekend. We'll see. The weather is turning ugly here.

RE: Area 51 engines
Boys 'n Girls - this is one WHOOPASS engine.
It would have started on the third or fourth flip, if I wouldn't have flooded it, thinking the carb wouldn't draw well being dry. Wrong!! That sucker pumped like no tomorrow.
When it did start....well, this is the VERY FIRST engine that has run and idled perfectly with the out-of-the-box needle settings. Maybe it's a fluke. Smooth like almost unbelievable. Powerful like a 60 that I used to have, probably better.
After a 15 minute run to let things settle in at low rpm... this puppy is good to go. I will NOT hesitate buttoning this one up and heading to the field. SOLID and consistent, and transition of the carb is just better than I expected. Really VERY responsive to my usual rapid throttling.
Wow. If this 51 is THIS good, I don't know if I'll be able to stand the 102....
Well Done, Milton!!!!!!!

I haven't touched the needles. Didn't check 'em. Running so great where it is, no need yet. Amazing.
The 102 is replacing my DL 100 in my 33% Ultimate.
THAT **will** rock...

Oh Mr. Pastorello is getting me in trouble on this one. His bleeding edge in his quest for high performance on a budget is gonna cost me some money. I was and am pretty content with my two DL50s.

Bob.....I went to the store for you today.
Glad you like your engine.
Norbert, I liked the Alien looking logo a few pages better.....
If it were me I would have RC Extreme Power in big words with the little Alien and 51 centered.

Just my $.02 but Brian Cooper at Cooper fuels makes a synthetic oil for gassers that is awesome. I've been running it for about a year now and love the stuff.

It's not listed on his site but drop him a line about it if you're interested.

RE: Area 51 engines
I have a basic logo worked up that cuts OK on the vinyl cutter..
I made it one color (cheaper to make) , it has the RCPOWER web addy on it...
I'd like to post it here, so maybe guys with a little better art skills could tweak it..
but I don't have the computer skills to post an image here..
can someone inform me how to post an image or point me to web page that tells me how..
I did send it to Milton ,, so maybe he will post it...
Thanks

RE: Area 51 engines
hi,
i like the idea of an alien head in the picture. i dont have any graphic editing softare on my pc. i think that head with the area-51 curved at the bottm. the "A" towards the one eye ball curved around the chin with the "1" towards the other eyeball. kind of a fluid motion in reverse of the web site addy. maybe the web site addy higher so its not back contrasted by the alien head stripe???
