Hey Jody, look on the bright side...all 300 + DLEs you sold will be sent back for you to fix, at YOUR expense, from people who can't figure out which end of the allen wrench works...And be prepared for a few thousand queations about gaskets, bolt torque, etc...I don't envy you...

Been talking to the factory a few times over the last few days, no mention of anything like that.

I don't get why a person should stop using the engine either, that does not compute. I would think if they was going to grenade they would have done so already.

Is blowing up really a possibility? I thought they were just dying in idel when tilted back??
So, that does seem like it would have a high probability of dying in a harrier then, is that waht some guys were saying?

Not to me and I've tried to get the engine to die in the air, only time it did was when I tried so long it ran out of gas.

You're not listening, I have four of them that we fly, all run great and won't die in the air as hard as we try to make them. We also sell and service them for the factory, with nearly 275 engines sold not a single one has been returned for warranty service. Show me a bad one!

Here in Spain, also not a single one engine has been returned for warranty service.
Why people ask for a fix to the problem, and when solution is going to be ready , also is worried ?

Hey Guys -
I am building an Sbach and had a differnt engine I was going to put into it, but now I think I'm going with a DLE30, so I don't have to cut the cowl as much.
I can read through, but can someone PM me or post here with the long and short on this engine? Is it worth it? Is it dying a lot on guys? I would need to mount it inverted (cooling fins down).
Whats the good, whats the bad? Is it powerful through the middle range? Or are you having to blip the throttle to hold/control a hover? What should I do right away to it if anything?
Thanks guys!
Tim

Just bought a new DLE30 from Troy Built Models at the show in Perry GA today. The guy from TBM said that they are now selling a new model of the DLE30 that has a redesigned intake and does not have the issues of the earlier ones. Is this on the level or was I sold an empty promise?

TBM sells the product to you and after that, you are on your own. I bought their big Zero and the box arrived in good shape. I checked the contents but didn't remove the bubble wrap as the plane wouldn't be touched til Winter. No damaged noted. When I started on it 30 days ago, damage was found all over the place. The parts weren't internally secured. Cowl, front and back of the fuse, wing panels all damaged from shifting. A lot of it couldn't be seen until construction was actually started. A call to TBM yielded no response; not even a request for touch-up paint was honored. $1,200 bucks.
They also sold me a muffler that wouldn't fit the engine it was named for and omitted the hardware. It took a month to get a refund and when my card wasn't credited, I called them and was told I recieved an in-store credit. I raised heck over that and finally got my refund.
Draw your own conclusions from my story..........

I was at a very well known RC event & met some of the TBM people. Looks like they are out to sell as much RC goodies as they can. I tend to believe buyer beware with those boys!!! Capt,n

My family chipped in this past x-mas and bought me a dle 30 from tbm, and it was painless! My family is clueless when it comes to any rc and the staff at tbm took the time to explain so much to them. They knew more about the motor than I did!
There might be more than meets the eye here....

Times are never hard enough to straight up lie to customers to sell a product.
Dookie - as a fan of TBM, maybe you can get someone from TBM to explain what they meant by saying they sell a new version of the DLE-30??? I'd like to hear the response! Maybe they make their own cyberplate? TBMplate?
Hopefully it was a mis-understanding, and TBM would benefit from explaining what they were talking about????

Because DLE owners are starting to act like DA owners and believe everything the manufacturer is telling them. If the manufacturer did not say so then it cannot be so, and vice versa. Used to be gas engine users were leaders in the hobby where forward thinking was concerned. Not the case anymore.

I was looking for a place to put the ignition LED and it looked pretty cool with the tubing on it.
