Tower emailed to tell me my 30 is on it's way. If Tower finally got a shipment it might be the updated version. They were on back order since November.

a new carborator for sure, I saw picture of it on an spanish forum.
from outside looks like the old one but has DLE label on it.
but I quess there will be something more then just the carb...maybe the intake?

It's the same carb with a new pump cover that has the DLE logo, they did the same thing with the Emas carb on the 111 a while ago but it's the same Emas carb, in the case of the 30 it's a Tillotson.

Yes mine arrived as well. All I can say is those that never ordered one missed out on something very special in our hobby that rarely comes along. I will never sell my 30 now as the opportunity to own something like this custom made by someone of Richards talent and caliber is a rare event indeed. Thank you Richard for doing this for those that were able to get in on it. It is truly a work of art to see in person.

There you go, I said they would become instant collectors items, I know mine will be buried with me in my coat pocket. It's kind of a pain though to take the cowl off every week to polish it.

Aw shucks guys, i'm glad you like them although they do look ok, they serve as a very functional addition to the DL-30 . Super 8 the thought of the front half has also crossed my mind as well. Just have to see where that goes on down the road.
Right now i'm up to my neck in the rear plates and folks wanting more *L*

Hi guys at one time they made a chemical etching machine that worked quite well for that sort of thing, Where you had to use a non destructive method to make serial & parts numbers on items. I can't remember for the life of me what they called it. although I used them for many years. Let me see what I can find online and get back with you.

One of my friends dropped the ball and didn't get his order in before the cut off as he was busy and didn't get to it. I guess I'll have something that he won't now.

I got mine yesterday. HOLLY $**T Richard! Thats fantastic.<div>
</div><div>and thanks for prob drill jig. I was wondering why the box was too heavy before opening!</div><div>
</div><div>I couldn't finish modifying my firewall and servo position last night. I'll let you know how engine runs when I fire it up. </div><div>
</div><div>BTW, does my fuse need a hole in the back for airflow now? </div>

Maybe if you sealed the carb hole up with silicon *L* I cut the hole in my FW big enough to allow for ample air to get in to the carb. The other only reason I know of to have a hole somewhere for a vent in the fuse would be to extract heat, and maybe give better air flow over the pump diaphram.
Maybe some of these others guys may have a better answer.
BTW I am glad you like your parts and finally got them.

Just watched the video again and saw the engine was spinning a laminated prop @7000! That is very impressive.
I should have my engine late Friday afternoon. It will be interesting to see if the engine comes with a new carburetor or any changes to cause the four month shipping delay from Tower.
The replacement MT35 (w/carb this time) will get here the same day. I'll be busy this weekend.

Thats a 19x8 laminated prop with a pitts style muffler that cost about 300 rpms. The stock muffler allowed the engine to spin up to 72-7300 if memory serves me right.
Imagine what it would do on a pipe.

Yeah,
I'm not real into pipes, but you're right. I prefer cannister or quiet incowl mufflers. I bet Jtec can make a nice dual snuffler for it that wouldn't loose much rpm.
I'll have to run both engines with real mufflers after they are broken in. The things they come with are only exhaust diverters.
