Sent you an email for payment.
Can you have the motor rebuilt, rewound? What brand of equipment is providing this great service? Are they claiming the converter caused the motor to fail?

Guys I am still not sure what caused the failure, the converter is supposed to save the motor if something was to happen, but in this case both went in with flames. One min things was great, the next I heard a pop like something fell off the table then the motor single phased on me. I shut it off and called an electrician. We even tried to hook it up to a static converter to get it back up and running but no such luck. Although the motor still turns its pulling 33 amps and won't spin up to max RPM's. Since its a special motor I can either have it rebuilt or buy a new one. It will cost more to have it rebuilt than buy new. But if all of the motors are like this I can do W/O it. Supposed to be made in Tiwan, but I have a feeling its not. I don't think the overseas type motors have the guts the ones we make here in the states do.
The motor isn't my biggest concern really it's the rotary converter, takes a good whack out of 4 grand for that particular one, but for now I can get by with a static type to finish up with.
All I know is I have been scratching my head here worried sick about not being able to get these parts done and out the door. My word means alot to me and when I say that I will get something done I try my best to achive it. Had this of not had happened I think I would have been ready to ship.

Boy, that's too bad
I just replaced the woodtek dustproof 1 hp 1725 rpm motor on my 36" shop fan yesterday ... it still works actually but is 12 years old and started screeching till I lubed it
I use 2-2hp woodtek motors on a sanding machine with a heavy load and would recommend these motors anytime
Hope you get back going soon Cyberwolf
It sounds like you should be able to figure something out cost effective since you could practically make the machine yourself
Heck,, I have gas power generator,, compressor,, as well as gas power belt drive back up for most all of my shop equip
be creative? [X(]

Was it pulling 33 amps on each leg? I'd measure the resistance of each winding and then check each to ground. Check for resistance across each leg of the contactor and make sure no fuses or a leg of a breaker isn't bad. This is beyond the average electrician, not that your's is average but for an old radio tech it should be cake.

Ok you go ahead and be creative all you want, but run your 3 phase motors from a generator and see how far you get. YEAH 3 PHASE not single like im sure you have in you wood shop.
I have to agree with Jody you lack of knowledge in some areas is glaring.

Get a big ***** three phase motor and couple it to a big ***** single phase motor and make your own rotary converter.
Hook a gas engine to a three phase motor and you get a three phase generator.

The toy engine parts can wait. If the converter guy can make a house call it might be an easy fix. Just reread your first post about the converter being in the shop already. I didn't read it I guess.

Hey Cyberwolf i know this is a PITA but I also know you will figure it out and move forward as
this seems to me like the kind of person you are the glass is half full and lets get it done!
I can understand how you would be feeling like throwing in the towel about now but again I feel you will
move past it! Sooo if you do decide to finish up just send me an email and I would be glad to send you
the money!!!
Those backplates were looking like art work!! I for one would hate to mis out on these Cyberwolf
master pieces! Thanks for all of the effort you have put into this project to help us all out to this
point Cyberwolf!!!
PS the DLE30's thanks you!

I am thinking we need everyone to pull together here and help out and prepay so Richard can make the repairs and finnish the project. Otherwise he is going to be stuck with a bunch of half finished plates which he has invested his own money in buying all the material to make as well as having a broken machine.....

in offering Richard some help.
I know many would say that its a mistake to send folks money you don't know but i feel Richard is a good
guy and needs help so here it goes Richard if you want to go ahead with this project please email me at
[email protected] and i'll will add $25.00 more to the price of the cyberplate to help in the repairs of your
equipment. I hope others will do the same if they feel they can afford it! Thanks Richard!

would power anything he needslol... woodshops use 3 phase for many things... I'd almost rather use gas or diesel right from the getgo on heavy applications like gangrips or moulders or even dust collectors
Those woodtek 2 hp motors will run on 110 and even turn a heavy load with that power supply...
git'r done

Thanks guys I really need the support about now. As a rule I can take it square on the chin and keep on trucking. And I will with this deal also given a little time. I told you I would do these parts and more, maybe not on the time frame I said but as soon as possible.
Seebee I know you mean well, and normally I would just pass it by, but right now some off the wall advice is not helping the situation out.
For all that has emailed or PM me about payment I also thank you very much.

I'll take any that are not spoken for, if someone else needs them no problem but if they are available when finished I'll take 'em.

You guys are simply a really great bunch, coming to help a fellow modeller out of a situation. Anyone heard of another hobby where a helping hand stuff like this happens .... don't think so.

Good for you. I don't normally chime in especially when I'm sure that folks can easily handle themselves, but for right now Cyberwolf is hurting so if you have nothing to say that is uplifting or helpful why don't you give him some slack and butt out while he tries to come to grips with his situation.

Cyberwolf , is there some way I can help? I will buy a few of the back plates if that will help. I can wait awhile for them while you get the machine fixed.
Just let me know, I would be happy to be able to pitch in on helping out.
THANKS

Seebee you are a real treat, you have no idea of what the machine cost or the reason that the motor went out, but yet you still want to chime in and show just how ignorant you are. I think you like to hear your own head rattle with all your worthless opinions and remedys for cobbleing up stuff. Like I said you go right ahead and cobble all you want to I don't do things that way, that why I have the rep I have in my busness.
As far as being creative, Sir I have more creativity in my little finger than you have in your whole body. You have not helped out a single person with your worthless garble in any thread I have seen you post in.
I make it a rule not to argue with people like you, they drag you down to there level and beat you with experecnce . But in this exception The gloves are off bud !!!!
