really bad case of pneumonia, they drained 2+ liters of fluid from my left side, right side was fine the whole time, odd.

Was in Childrens Hosptial of Philadelphia for 2 weeks.

Wowser's buddy... glad to hear you're back on your feet again.

I too have had some rough times lately... I recently found out I have Leukemia, started some good meds that are working well and I'll have to get a bone marrow transplant in the next month or so (as soon as they find a donor match). They give me pretty decent odds so I'm looking forward to getting that over with and by then it'll be close to our flying season.

Anywho... nuff of that ole stuff...

More pics guys... more pics! Certainly someone has started building the plane?

The Landing Gear in the photo is not attached yet, I just sat it in the recess to snap the picture. Inside the plane is a LG plate and some angle aluminum. The mounting bolts go through the aluminum for extra strength.

The Hatch attaches with 4 screws, to at front and two at rear. It also has CF alignment pins at the front that slip through holes in the Bulkhead. Chris said he flies his with only the two rear bolts and the CF pins holding it on.

Drew,

I'm curious... how much does the tuned pipe, header, joiner hose & clamps weigh together?

Plane is perfect. Not one wrinkle on the covering. For those of you who have the 68" yak, it's just like that but bigger. The ailerons look proportionally larger than the 68". Hole in the fuse is cut for the carb on the DA. Stay tuned. Plane will be done by Saturday w/ video and pictures of the build.

Awesome Drew... keep up the good work.

And just to confirm... the standoff length required for the DA-50 is 2.5" correct?

Not sure, but the stand offs that come w/ the DA will work.

Drew,
Chris told us on a post some pages back that the we need 2.5" standoffs, DA always suplies 3.2" standoffs with the engine, but I know that they have shorter standoffs for the 50, I just dont know what lenght are the shorter standoffs that DA has!

I have been trying to reach Desert Aircraft to ask them but the phone has been bussy al day long!

what lenght are the standoffs that you have???

They are the posts that distance the engine from the firewall. You order them in the length you need in order to put your prop washer just outside the cowl. If they are too long, you stick out too far... if they are too short you need to add blocks to space them out further. (It also effects balance... somettime you push the engine out a little further on purpose in order to help twith a tailheavy plane... evidently not the case witht eh EF Yak)

In this case, the 2.5" standoffs are just the right.

It also affects the ofset, and right thrust of the engine!

Absolutely...

And you can be sure that Chris' template for installing the DA-50 has the correct amount of offset so that the 2.5" standoffs place the spinner in the center of the cowl...

BRRRRRRR!!! 26 deg. 40 mph N.E. wind and 6" of snow with more to come tonight. That still didn't stop me from driving 8 miles to the post office and mail my deposit for the YAK. Now for the wait for the 1st boat.

Is Chris calling everyone on the waiting list or just the first lucky 20? I have been on the list for close to a year and even called one time to make sure I was still on the list. I haven't received a call yet. ***?

Not sure if he's calling... he sent an e-mail out to those that were on the list asking them to call in with their deposits...

You should call right away!!!
