Too many distractions though. I want to finish the Corsair, but can't find the hardware. In searching for the hardware I came across all the empty blanks the die cut parts came from and, well, now that is taking up my time. I did find the original manual, while looking for the P-51 manual, and the last page is the parts list, so I now have that to work with. Still haven't found the P-51 manual, to avoid losing parts for that I stuck them and the plans back in the box. Just trying to reorganize things. Once I have all the parts at the correct size I can put the box back on the shelf. My Giant Scale is almost ready fro prime time, someone is sending me the wing dimensions so I can compare to the plans I have before I make any changes to the T ribs. All the center ribs are correct but the tip ribs are off, according to my plans. I also have to resize all the slots where they are sized for 1/8" plywood, to 3MM plywood. Then it is ready to market.

Thanks Mike, I have all the PDF, but was looking to get everything for that kit back in the box. I know it is around here, somewhere as I had cut out the parts templates, found that and started looking for the manual. Just finished up another sheet, Fuse 03, perfect fit. A lot easier to get them right when you have the original to compare to. All the parts are slightly oversize when importing them as I discovered, but having the original blanks they came from makes it easier to get them sized properly. I cut proofs from heavy paper to align to the plans.

A couple pages back I posted about a Saito 50 I picked up with a broke con rod for a very low price on the other site. My intent was to use the good parts to convert another Saito 45 to a 45 Special. After I opened the engine and looked everything over, I decided to fix it instead. I totally disassembled the engine. I cleaned everything in an ultrasonic cleaner. The parts came out looking like new. The pin on the crank shaft had some very small groves in it from the con rod breaking. They are very hard to see but I could feel them running a fingernail over the crank pin. I swapped out the crankshaft with another that I had in the parts box from a Saito 56. They are identical crankshafts but the threaded portion is about a ¼ inch longer on the 56 crank shaft. I had a set of bearings on hand so I changed the bearings because I’m not sure what went through them when the con rod broke. I got a con rod from Graves RC for less than $10. I was able to reassemble the engine this week. Today I ran it. I gave it two 6 ounce tanks running rich as a re-break in. On the third tank I wound it up to 9700 RPM on a 12X6 prop. I could have got more out of it leaning it further but I wanted to get a little more time on the engine before pushing more. It will idle under 2K. I’m very happy with the results.
Can one of you experts tell me from the pictures if that is the original muffler? I remember the 50 having the black hot dog looking muffler.
I don’t have an immediate need for this engine. The price was too good to pass up. The best part is the enjoyment I got out of turning a broken engine into a good running engine.
My next project will be machining some mufflers for larger Saito engines. Pictures will be coming.

Great work Pedro! Glad you had a new crank on hand too. That muffler style was indeed supplied with the later engines in the black and gold boxes.
You will like that engine a lot. The smallest Saitos of any case size Saito are usually my favorites.

Woot, last of my stuff came in yesterday, time to make the pipes for the 120R3 to commence. As soon as I make a riser for the QCTP though, sits too low. I thought it came with one and I misplaced it, but looking at the listing, it was the other one I looked at that didn't look like it was well made that had the riser, so off to find some 3/16" flat bar stock.

i mixed another gallon of fuel for it. It's yanking and banking a beat up bear cat this afternoon.
I intend to pull it and drop a 1.0 in it that's been on loan to a buddy. You will end up with it if you want it.

I'm still working on the Robin Hood 25, I opted to make a special mount for the little Hitec HS 55 servo, it's a perfectly straight shot to the throttle arm on the Saito FA 30. The little servo and the mount weight about 1/3rd as much as the servos below it.

Would look sharp in the Beige and Blue that they used on the Toledo Special.
I have a lot of Covertex- Solartex type coverings. I can take a few pics of possibles , might save you some $$$

I looked a the web site for that plane and the bigger version. They look like real relaxing flyers. I would be flying that plane while sitting in a lawn chair with a cold drink at my side.

I'll have to go through my covering stack and see what I have enough of, I know I have plenty of red, pearl white, a couple of shades of blue and plenty of yellow. Gary you could go ahead and say COLOURS and we could blame Pete.

I checked the tracking on that USPS priority mail package that went out about two weeks ago. They said it was "still on the way. Wouldnt be surprised if it isn't sitting in a warehouse marked "500,000 Votes: ******"
Anyhow, keep an eye out, some good stuff in it

Thank you dave, being a life long expert COLOUR matcher and possessor of our southern hemisphere dictionary suits me. Even in my most charitable moments over the last 40 years of spraypainting cars i've never considered beige ( baby poo brown ) to be a colour, more like a handicap for whatever car etc that colour is applied to. Perhaps gary's USPS ( which by the way is not accepted by spell checkers down under ) package is wrapped in beige/brown paper. Would be good to see some pics of the fa30 when it's in the robin hood cheers mate.
