He got me for just under $25.00 in January. I cannot get any response from him whatsoever. I realize that is not a lot of money, but if he gets enough of us for $25.00, he can make a good living with abo****ely no cost to him. Plus, I hate for anyone to steal from me no matter how small the amount. He obviously is a scam artist. I was glad to see the BBB number in an earlier post. I will call tomorrow and add my complaint to an ever growing list. Sooner or later, someone will close him down.

Has the BBB ever done anything to anyone? How is it possible that someone with a track record such as this is has not been arrested and shut down? Cant RCU or the AMA follow up with the local DA or FBI to end this? Where does the AMA stand on this issue? In my opinion they should be taking the lead on this. For all the complaints we all make about various suppliers, I have never heard of one that everyone just considers an out right crook like this guy. Seems like, at the very least, the AMA ought to be sending an email to all its members warning of "businesses" that operate like this guy.

Betcha if this guy was printing his own money, the feds would snag this guy so fast all you'd see is a vapor trail. The gov-mint hates competition.
Funny thing is, why do the credit card companies even let him keep a merchant account if he has negative history?
I'd like to pass along some safe-er online purchasing practices.
1# Use one of the top constantly updating antiviral software like Norton and keep things turned on like the firewall.
2# When ever you enter sensitive info like passwords, ssn and card info, use the "On-Screen Keyboard"
Start/All Programs/Accessories/Accessibility/On-Screen-Keyboard. Keystroke spyware cant see what you enter that way (at your end anyway).
3# Use a feature like B of A's "ShopSafe". Through your online account, you generate new card number, limit, expiration, ccv# that's good only for one merchant to access. Anyone else is out of luck.
4# Before you purchase, look the sellers site's "about us", "terms", "contact us". If it is missing or makes you uncomfortable, don't do business. Also try the phone number.
It's a bit of a hassle, but you get fast quickly.

Interpol is a data collection service and has no enforcement authority anywhwere. The BBB is a bigger scam than QT. They will let you know about serious complaints of their members. Members can cause a lot of problems before the BBB will even consider releasing any bad reports of thier members. I doubt that QT pays to belong to the BBB.
Your best bet is the FBI; file some reports and see what happens.

The BBB ought to be called the Blah Blah Blah. It has just about as much meaning.
I went to the site in question last night out of curiosity. Man it is slick. You would never know the rep the place has. I still say the AMA ought to be out front in this. Wherer are they and why doo we hear nothing from them even stating that they are investigating member complaints? I would assume (yes I know what that means) that the AMA moniters RCU? If nothing else just for kicks. Is it possible they are not aware of any of this?
I know Iam not one of the guys who felt they were scammed. But Ihate to see anybody taken advantage of. And I always thought of the majority of the people Ideal with in this hobby as honorable.

Yeah, it is like the Good Housekeeping Seal - you pay for the membership and the seal. No one ever had the seal revoked if they paid the annual fee.

Hey all. I got suckered by Larry the dk Quick also fer over $300.00 , and his sham parts co. also back in Sept. I did everything recommended on here but the only recourse I will ever have is to write it off to experience and know that some day he will have his attonement!!. I just hope he pisses off the wrong person some day. some one with enough clout to send him packing.

Intriguing thread here... I got on this site and was very surprised at all of the **discontinued** items that they still list as available (like the ACESeaMasterARF, which is about the same plane as the Neptune which is what I was looking for). So red flag #1 goes off; seems too good to be true. Well ok, web sites can be a huge hassle to maintain, maybe they just don't get around to removing stuff very often... Let's look for contact info... There is none and there's an intentionally vague description of where they are located... Good enough to track them down, though. Red flag #2... Ok, but I still want an ARF or RTF seaplane, so maybe I'll see if I can contact them to do business face-to-face... No response yet and now that I'm reading all of the comments around the Internet about them, I suspect I won't... I am very surprised that the state attorney has not taken any action against him given the number and aggregate total of the claims... If the guy is really just out there scamming, he needs to be locked up.

There must be hundreds of people that are scammed by QTH all over the world.
Only a very small part of them end up here on this thread.
I can't believe that he can continue scamming people without getting in trouble with the law.
@insyt21st : Are you serious about forgetting that 300$ you lost to him and write it off as "lesson learned" , life goes on, don't want to think about it anymore ??!!??
Ifso, you should have wired that money to me instead, I would have had the decency to at least thank you for it wich is more than you can say from Larry.
Did any of you that got scammed go to the police ?
Isn't the police in the US obliged to take action after someone is filing a complaint against someone else ?
And if anyone of you didn't do it, why didn't credit card companies like Visa or American Express do it after you claimed back your money from them ?
I just wonder.

BUYER BEWARE I recently ordered a ARF plane from the Quick Tech Hobby website June 14 2010. The item I wanted could not be found anywhere else and i was willing to take the risk using a VISA transaction (because they dont use Paypal). They replied by e-mail with the order confirmation and total amount. They charged my card and received payment on June 30. A week later I e-mailed for an update and received zero response. The website claims up to 4 to 6 weeks to fulfill an order, so I patiently waited thru July. Then on about Aug 4th while doing online banking I see I am being charged AGAIN....OK, I think maybe they are getting ready to ship my order and have also made a billing error. So I phone my bank that provides the VISA card and they recommend waiting to see if it comes off (of pending). I tried the phone # for Quick Tech Hobby twice and I provided all the info they request ie. order #, name address etc. and have recieved zero response (again). So, here we are Aug 7th and the charge goes thru and I'm back on the phone with the bank and I now have a 'provisional' credit pending with 48 hrs to resolve for full credit (double billing over $300). Total time spent researching the Vendor, ordering the product from their website and dealing with bank.....easily 8 hrs. Will I see the plane shipped ?? ...who knows at this point. Next step is AMA ( I am a full member ) and Better Business Bureau....too bad, I really did want this model (Cermark Victor).

Oh, I'll see my money back, that is for certain.................
Given that the current economy has taken its toll on many RC merchants, including many in my locale that I still try and support as much as possible and given that I still do shop online with the leading and trusted merchants I say this.........
On behalf of all all RC enthusiast's on this forum AND the widespread RC community I will see this thru, and I promise that:
1) Quick Teck Hobby, located at Sedalia Missouri, you are on notice that you have 5 business days to ship my order #9200 and/or reply to my inquirey's sent via e-mail and phone messages on same. If you do not comply, I will consider you as unresponsive and therefore in breach and not a reputible merchant. I WILL lower the hammer begining Aug 16th 2010.
2) The entity that hosts your website may be considered as 'suspicious' and may be included in any further investegation.
3) I have logged a complaint with the Hobby Shop Network using a phone number, which is by the way provided ONLY within the QTH website and is for consumer complaints/problems.
The phone number for the Hobby Shop Network shares the same area code as Quick Tech Hobby and I could not find any reference on the www to the 'Hobby Shop Network' outside of the QTH website............ a very interesting coincedence.
The following is a copy from the Quick Tech Hobby website regarding the 'Hobby Shop Network'.
"The Hobby Shop Network is a group of local and international hobby shops coming together to provide better support to hobby shop customers all around the world."
Quick Tech Hobby, the ball is in your court and the clock is ticking................

Really, really sorry to hear this. Merchants such as QTH risk tainting on-line sellers as a whole
On-line stores have enough work trying to portray themselves as honest merchants that deliver. It is a leap of faith for a consumer to hand over his/her credit card info for payment to what amounts to be a complete stranger in the expectation (hope) they will receive the respective merchandise.
"Merchants" such as QTH only serve to further distrust in the industry.
Fortunately, you have a big ally. Your credit card company. Phone up the issuing bank and they will charge back the transaction to QTH.
Good luck!

Recently I placed an order of $ 330.00 with QTH, quickly I found that this shop has a very strange way of working and soon enough my alarm senses were telling me I was in trouble ( no e-mail responses, no real phone to discuss my order status, etc )
I read this forum and this was my solution:
Called my credit card bank and explained to them the complete situation, they double check that QTH still hadn´t charge my card so they just reported my card as a LOST CARD, no one will be able to charge anything to it and I will receive a new plastic in no more than 10 days. :-)
Now I will place the order with a good online shop and I will sleep better........

QTH will rip you off if he can get away with it, PLEASE DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH QTH ... read above by our Moderator "If you order a discontinued item, you just threw your money away."
I am still persuring this matter to have his web site shut down thru the provider (easier said than done)
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH QTH !!

There should be a law against him having any web sites?
There should be a law against him having any web sites?
Has anyone tried going to the police yet ?
Ifso, it should only be a matter of days before they knock on his door.
If he lived in Europe or my country he would be shut down in a matter of hours, simple as that.
This is going on for a couple of years now, it's been long enough I figure.
