GP Giles 202 1/4 - flaperons

I decided to try flaperons on my Giles (which I love to fly), with a little down elevator mixed in. When I first deployed the flaps, the plane went into a pretty steep dive, so I took out almost all of the down elevator. Tried again and still got a dive. Looks like I might have to mix in up elevator to hold level. Does this make sense? Anybody else tried this with the GP Giles?

Also only modify one control surface at a time.
The flaps will only need a few degrees at the most.
What I have found to shorten my landing is to reflex the ailerons and elevator up when I touch down. The plane stops very quickly. Just make sure you are on the ground when you throw the switch!

try some flaps first before flaperons, I do not know what radio you are using but chances are you can control the flaps nob lowering both ailerons! with the Rx connected in chanels 1 & 6.-
if possible, practice: set flaps 10 to 15 degree and feel how much elevator you need and so on until about 30 degrees, once you get it down start playing with the flaperons.
just a tip.

Have you tried it yet? I am curious. I tried flaperons and didn't like it. What I didn't try was spoilerons but figured my landing speed was already too high. When the plane is on the ground, lifting both ailerons and elevator stops the plane like putting on the brakes!

Haven't tried the flaps with up elevator mixed in yet. Waiting on good weather here. Maybe next weekend. Landing the plane has been tough for me. Comes in pretty fast and wants to bounce up with the the first touch of the gear. So I'm trying this to slow it down some on final without stalling (hopefully).
Hola Mancha, by flaperons I mean using the ailerons, both lowered at the same time with the flap switch.
By the way, I'm changing out the gear on mine to the TNT (original is bent a bit from a hard landing). Problem is when I installed the original gear, I followed the instructions and glued the landing gear cover to the gear. I'm sure I will tear this cover up when I take it off. Good news is I called Great Planes to ask if I could buy a new one. They sent me a new piece free of charge. I think that's very good service from GP. The new gear will be installed with this cover removable.

Funny you said that. My gear is a TNT one as well. They get a log of business. It will still bend but not as easy. My plane is heavy so I expect it to bend some.
What I did on landing is to raise both (elevator and ailerons). I found that when I am on the ground, it stays there and stops quickly. Just don't do it if it bounces. Flipping the switch in the air would be disastrous (IMHO)
