Oh ya how 'bout those RCV things. They look pretty neat but expensive.

Tom & Don After reading a lot of these posts, I realized you guys belong to the Mesick club. Me too. I joined last Sept. I met Todd and flew with him twice. Bruce called me to fly one Wed. , but had prior plans with my wife. Can't wait to met you guys, sounds like you are good people. I'm new to the hobby. I have a Hobbico Super Star( which I crashed the last time I flew with Todd.) All fixed, but havn't flowen it since, weather you know. I'm building a Tiger 60. I had to guess on the 2 Degree right thrust. What is going to happen if I have to much right?

I live 2 mi. east of the Meauataka Store on 31 1/2 Rd.

Gary, You might want to give one of us a call. Don and I both have interesting projects that we are working on. Maybe we could meet at Don's. You have to see his shop to believe it!!! Weather permitting, maybe we could get something in the air.

Don, coffee sounds great. The tiger is coming along ok. I have the fues. finished and all the gear installed. I just came up from the basement, I've got the bottom of the wing covered. Had one heck of a time with the tips. there must be some trick to getting all the wrinkles out of the rounded ends. I also found out why you cover the wings before anything else, I'm out of Mono cote. I bought 3 rolls. I have to buy 1 more roll to finish the wing. Dang! I really don't want to pc. the top. This is my first build, not bad for being 63 years old!

Gary and Barron, Let's meet at Don's. Should we ask him first? Naw. This weekend sounds good to me. Weatherbug says there's a chance of flurries with a high of 31. BRRR!!!!

Gary, set it up with Don and I'll be there.

Barron you are welcome to join us. The drive would be shorter if Lake Michigan was froze over!!!

Howdy gents. I think I decided on an airplane. SIG Fourstar 60 sized with a 60-75 sized motor.

Tom, bottom wing of the bipe is almost done. I finally just decided to rig the wing how I wanted to instead of trying to figure out how these filler blocks went. Then unfortunately after I set my dihedral to 3/4" under the last wing tips..I realized the next day (yes I built this wing in 1 day) that my wing was cantered foward like an inverse arrow. DOH. Musta shifted during the 'bending' process. So I took a saw to it, and had to make it all happen again. This time however I had alot of work to do to make a dihedral brace to join the two wings and MANY little pieces covered in about 2 oz of medium CA to strengthen the wing in the center.
The best part of all of this, (yes there is one) is that sanding the leading edge to shape went FAST. I can't believe how much better this turn out than the top wing. Makes me ALMOST (yea right) redo the leading edge on the top wing. I figure after a horrible crash I will redo it then. I figured out how to sand it much better.
So anyway. How's everything going guys?

Got a little great white north thing going in here I see?

Supposed to snow tonight and tomorrow. Didn't get my snow tires on yet. DOH. Oh well, they really didn't help much other than to move forward. With all the hills around here most accidents happen from tail slides and 360x? spinouts. OH JOY I can't wait for all this.

Sincraft, I wondered where you were. Progress!!! That's a good thing.

You'll like the Four Star. I flew one a few years back. It was fun. Still planning on a 4 stroke? Doesn't sound like it.

Should be about time for Bill and Elad to respond. Then most of the gang will bee here.

Don and I are planning on meeting Gary496. He is a member of our small club and we've never met.

Weather the last couple of days has been great. Sunny and no wind. The forcast for the weekend, when we can fly, isn't so promising.

All:

Well, our little band is growing. We began with TomDump, SkinRash, Eladed, Don the Oldest Son, and your humble (well, maybe not so humble) interlocutor, me. Then we got the Sailor of the Nobility, Baron Swabby. Finally, we have been privileged to have the first three posts of Weiss the Wary.

And a big welcome to you, Weiss the Wary.

And I am jealous at having no invitation to the coming soiree. But at the same time I'm relieved that I don't have either to refuse it, or risk the family jewels to the cold by accepting it. I have heard many tales of brass monkeys becoming sterile when visiting up your way.

Now to RC.

SinkRaft, the 4*60 is a nice plane, but not as nice as the 4*40. the 60 is basically an enlargement of the 4*40 with no refinement. The refined 4*60 is the Venture 60, designed by the same man who did the 4*40 - Bruce Tharpe left Sig and the 4*60 was done by another employee there. Bruce put all the improvements in the Venture 60.

Just sticking my nose into your selection again.

Bill.

PS: I'm sure all the members of the little group know, but for the odd lurker "Weiss" is the German translation of Gary496's surname. wr.

Gary, It doesn't look good for flying today. 10mph winds with 24 mph gusts. looks like coffee and hangar flying is the order of the day.

Don:

Hibernian? How did you guess I have Scotch in my blood? Have you been spying and watching me buy my Glenfiddich single malt at the package store? Can't stand Dewar's, if you're too cheap to get me the Glenfiddich at least spring for Glenlivet.

Haw.

Bill.
