Ya post pics. I'm getting ready to start covering the wing of my .20 Cub. 'm using that Coverite Century 21 stuff. It workes great real easy to use and gives a scale appearance to the Cub. I hope I don't burn a hole.

Hey, Y'all.

Down here we had Artic weather today, just barely got up to 50 degrees. I didn't go flying, instead I got some heavy quilts, a hot rum toddy, and curled up by the fire.

Haw.

Bill, Weatherbug says it got up to 30, here. I was out in my heated shop, stayed warm, and workrd on my D9.

Oh ya, Saturday, I fired my snowblower up, and did the snow we got a couple of days earlier. That offer for lessons is still open.

Tom:

Don't try to teach your grandmother to suck eggs, boy. I grew up in snow country, and before I moved back to the East Coast a few years ago I was in Northern Kentucky. While it wasn't Michigan, we didn't have the Great Lakes to even the temperatures out, either. Wasn't uncommon to have a Nove, ber snow, and not see the ground again until April. I want no more of it, thank you.

Prop bites are bad enough at 60 degrees, I have no intention of getting another at 16 degrees.

You like such weather, you can sh... excuse me, you can keep it.

Haw.

Gary, I don't have a camera, either. Any picture I post is either taken by Don, or scanned into my computer and then posted.

I put my photos in MY PICTURES and then upload them. Just click reply and when the form comes up, you'll see the Upload Images in the bottom left corner. Click it and it should take you to your pictures. Select the one you want. It's not hard once you've done it a couple of times.

Barron, Is that the Cub that you are in the process of covering? Nice job!!! What kit is it?

I've had 2 or 3 Cubs, all Goldberg, with OS 70's. Don has the big Great Planes Cub with an OS 120 twin. A friend has the Balsa USA 1/3 with a G62. Gotta love those Cubs. Oh, ya, Don and I both have the Herr breezy day Cubs that are electric, but we haven't flown them yet.

Freezing rain and snow here tonite.

Yup thats my current project. Got the bottem of the wing covered yesterday. What kit? Unknown...really. The story:

Was at the field one day a guy drives up never saw him before. Askes me if I want this Cub he has. He says it has no movable serfaces just the rudder sort of broken. I told him I'll take it. Meet him another day to pick it up. Was in really bad condition. I striped the wing hinged all the parts put a motor in it, servos, rx, batt, pushrods, and all the other junk.

I got the frame for $15. Now its worth about $350. He told me he got it 25 years ago from a coin shop for $25. Never used it was sitting in the garage and basement. Has no idea where it came from, who built it, what kit it is, it was just there.

Well thats it the story of my Piper Cup.

Barron, Nice job on the reclamation project!!! Will you have to wait 'till spring tp fly it, or are ya gonna put it on skis and venture forth into the snow?

Freezing rain and an inch or two of snow at work today. At my place (25 miles away) there was less snow than when I left this morning. My wife said it rained all day. No snow blowin' tonite!!!

Barron, The lakes up here hane just as much snow as the ground. The road to our flying field is plowed, so if we get the urge to fly, we just go there. Skiis kinda work, but the planes like to sink into yhe snow.

Six inches of snow at work. Two here. That's for today.

Lord Sailor:

In the old marking specification the N number wasn't on the side of the wing. It was painted once on the top, and again on the bottom. Haw.

Conventinally, it was on top of the right panel, and the bottom of the left, but the top marking could extend across both panels. THere were regulations concerning the height and width of the numbers, and they were painted (both top and bottom) to be viewed as upright when seen from the tail of the plane.

Barron, Outside of that electric Cub, I don't have anything small enough to hand launch. Most of my planes are of the 80" and above category. My Sportster 40 with an OS 70 could handle floats, but the motor needs a rebuild after 13 seasons, and it's very tired right now.

I hope you like your Cub. Do you have any other scale type planes?

Barron, sounds like you are catching the scale bug. Be careful, it'll suck you in. My second plane was scale and I've never looked back. Of the 20 or so planes I've built, only 5 have been sport planes.

I think you'll like Balsa USA kits. The one I built was real enjoyable. The Taube is a nice airplane. Which size are you getting?

I'd be afraid to hand launch my planes. Don could do it, but I'd be afraid to trust him. It seems there have been a couple mishaps when I've launched planes for him. And revenge is sweet.
