I am building a CG Tiger 60 and have run into a problem with the wing. The kit is supplied with factory made notched trailing edges. The problem is they are too short. Both the Leading and Trailing edge need to be 33 1/4 inches long (each wing). The supplied trailing edge is only 32 1/4 inches long. The supplied Leading edges are 37 inches long which requires trimming which is understandable.
Has anyone else built one of these kits before and if so did they have this problem? I plan on contacting CG tomorrow to see if I can get the correct pieces as they would be difficult to hand make.
Thanks,
Derek

It sounds like they cut the TE too short. I did not have this problem with any of the 60's that I built.
Before you trim the LE, double check the rib slot alignment, as it does make a difference.

I was going to ask about adding stock to the inboard side, but you beat me to my question. The slots line up from the tips to the inner part of the wing. There will be lite ply sandwiched around these parts, that is why I was going to ask if I could butt joint some stock. I have added a picture to show where I would add the stock.

I talked to them (CG) yesterday and the proper parts are in the mail. They were very friendly and didn't even hesitate to correct the problem.
Thanks

Yes they are lined up correctly. If I had taken the picture standing back a little farther you would be able to see that the notches are lined up correctly and that they can only be installed one way. CG acknowledged the problem and it appears at least one other person experienced the same problem. Even if I was to turn it around, it is still too short.

I had same problem with the kit I'm helping my son build. We just spliced in some additional wood in the joint.
This goldberg kit did not impress me. It looks like the fuselage was cut using a router or roto tool. This left "corners" round. We squared the corners where the fuse formers fit to the fuse side. Many peices in the fuse were a poor fit. There is plenty of instructions but it was often unclear. I've built several kits and found several points in instructions difficult. There is also the annoying habit of refering to Goldbergs own products such a Jet CA glue.
I've got a Top Flite Contender waiting to build. The box is so neatly and efficently packed I almost hate to start. The wood in this kit is pretty, clean and straight, top notch stuff. The instructions are untried but the manual has plenty of photos and the paper finish is glossy.

Actually, just before Goldberg sold out, their QA went down the tubes. Since being bought out things are much better.
The reason for the rounded inside corners is to avoid wood splitting. Most parts will still fit well enough, and any gaps can be filled and sanded.

My kit was/is fine with the exception of the short pieces which are being replaced. Most pieces are laser cut and the materials seem to be of good quality. I do agree with the comment though referring to the glues. I just need to know what type to use not brand.
P.S. I am building this with my son as well. I have to admit I am not a craftsman and have built other CG models before without much problems. I am more of an assembler, I build and fly model helicopters. Give me a thousand pieces to put together and I can do it and do it right. I have to be careful when building airplanes, because it requires finesse.

As far as the glue goes, that's a typical practice in ever industry.
Look at a recipe on a product box. They will tell you which brand of canned tomatos you should use, or "Add 1lb of Kraft Shreaded Mexican Style Cheese" etc.
Just as Great Planes kits will always show Futaba Radios, OS Engines, and MonoKote, while Hangar-9 Kits will always show Saito, JR and Ultracote.

I had the same problem(s) and the parts they sent out were cut wrong also. That was not the least of it. I built the Deluxe kit and there were so many problems with manual (which I had to have them send because it was not in the box) and numerous problems with the length and cut of parts that I was winging it most of the way through the building. I sent them a two page letter with issues and corrections for the manual and have not heard a word back from them. I won't build another CG kit and will not recommend that anyone else build one either.
