It is looking good so far. Are you going to paint it as Art Scholl did or do something original?

I have the panel lines down on the fuse and the primer sprayed on. I will let that cure until tomorrow evening and sand the primer down to the chart tape then remove the taqpe to reveal the panel lines. I will be laying out the panel lines on the wing tonight and I will spray the primer tomorrow. It takes 5 coats of primer to build up the surface for the panel lines.

I am not sure if you have seen my thread on my Dynaflight Chipmunk build, but there are some pretty good shots of a Chipmunk, that can help you with some of the scale details. Unfortunatly it is the original Chipmunk, not a Super Chipmunk that I believe you are building.
BTW - what is the size of your plane?
Mine is a 90" wing and a 1.2 motor.

I have sanded the primer off the fuselage panel lines and removed the tape. The lines came out nice. I have the wing sanded out and ready to lay out the panel lines. The wing came out very nice. It looks rough due to the color differances from the primer and spot filler but it is as smooth as glass. This type of finish is alot of work but it really pays off in the end. Here are a few pics of the fuselage and the wing.

Is the .52 going to be enough power on a 60" plane? With all the scale details you are adding, I wouldn't be surprised if your AUW was around 7lbs., if not more. I would go with at least a Saito .82 or YS .63 for sport flying and most scale aerobatics.
Just my opinion of course.

The weight will be no problem,
The plane will only be around 5 1/2 lbs when complete. The finish is actually very light and the details that I am adding will only add a few ounces. I built 2 JSM Aircoupe(roughtly the same dimensions) and covered and detailed the same way and the .52 was perfect for the plane.
I may be wrong but we will find out come maiden time

RVM,
I am sure the plane will fly, will not have unlimited vertical but shoud fly in a scale manner.
I have the panel lines layed down on the wing with 1/32" chart tape and I will spray 5 coats of high fill primer over them tomorrow. I need to assemble the cowling and wheel pants and get them ready for detail(rivets, fasteners) then I will be ready to shoot the white paint on the whole plane. I am getting close to the end but I am working at a nice leasurely pace.
I will be ordering a G/P Foam Electric Corsair later this week for Combat flying with a buddy. I may stop on the Chipmunk long enough to get the Corsair flight ready.

Cubnut, it is looking great. Watch that cat though, i understand they like to eat wing tips.

I have been working on the Chipmunk when I can and I have the panel lines completed on the whole plane and I am working on the control surface details now as well as trimmng up the cowling halves and the wheel pant halves getting ready to join and glass the joints. I should be laying down all the rivets this week. I will try to take some pics tomorrow and get them posted.

I have the rib tape detail on the control surfaces now and I started adding rivets to the stab, fin and rear fuse section. I put down around 300 rivets lastnight and had to stop, I was getting crosseyed
I put everything back together to get a few pics and I am getting ready to go back to applying rivets for a few hours.
I have my next build lined up to get on the table, it is a Ziroli 1/5 scale P-40E. This will be a highly detailed plane that will probably take me in the neighborhood of a year to build. The Chipmunk will most likely be my last kit build. I am moving more to plans built scale planes. My last few kits have been mostly test beds for scale detail before moving on to bigger scale projects. I will be doing a thread on my P-40 at rcsacalebuilder and it will start mid april if anyone wants to follow along.
Anyhow I am attaching a few pics of the Chipmunk.

Thanks,
It looks good but I just did it all by sight, I did not measure everything out to make it scale but it doesn't look like a box with wings

RVM,
I took a couple more pics but my cheap digital will not take a good closeup. You will see a faint dark line on a portion of the stab that is where I put a light pencil mark to guide me in putting down the rivets.

Not much progress on the Chipmunk,
I received my new Iwata Airbrush and my G/P Foam Corsair the other day. I am going to assemble the Corsair and then get back on the Chipmunk.
I didn't like the looks of the paint scheme on the Corsair so I am painting it, I took a pic before I started and how it looks now. I still need to paint the light grey on the bottom and highlight the panel lines and weathering. I think it is looking much better after painting the Blue.

Which kit or plans did you build that Corsair from? Are you going to put any weathering details on it?

My buddy bought the Hellcat and we are going to fly Combat this summer with them, this is my 1st electric plane. I am going to highlight the panel lines and do some weathering with my airbrush.

Almost finished painting the Corsair so I can get back on the Chipmunk.
Here are a few pics, not bad for my 1st attempt at airbrushing details.

Just found your post while searching for Jack Stafford website. I wish I had known they were going out of business I would have bought kits and parts. I built a Chipmunk from scratch using the 1968 MAN plans enlarged from the magazine. The toughest model I had ever built, that trick rudder/tailwheel assembly was crazy, but it does look very clean. I also used the heavier pink foam for my cores. And made the mold for the cowl, which came out o.k but not exactly as I had hoped.
