I would like to hear from someone who owns a Begin-Air.
I'm ready for a 4-channel plane and the Begin-Air appears to be a good choice, but I would like to read some comments before I decide. How well does it fly in the wind (10 mph)? I'm currently flying the Parkzone J-3 Cub and it gets bounced around in the wind quite a bit. Wonder how the Begin-Air compares to the Cub. I'm also thinking about the PZ P-51 that's supposed to come out any time.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I just got a Begin Air and plan one writing a short review on it. I am hoping to be able to do it this weekend, I have only flown it twice so far and only for a few minutes, so can't really give a fair opinion on it yet. And it is my first aileron plane, so my first flights are of course going to be a bit shakey. I will say that for the fact it is my first aileron plane, I was able to ROG, fly a few circuits, and land it upright without doing any damage. So I believe it is a good choice for a first aileron plane, and at a very good price. I started with a Slo V, so this isn't my first plane, but I wouldn't consider being able to fly a Slo V a fair assesment of one's flying abilities, it is a very forgiving plane since it flies so slow (now, for those of you out there who are doing serious aerobatics with it, THAT is a good assesment of your flying abilities! But I'm not one of you guys...yet). The Begin Air flies faster, and is heavier so has more momentum carrying it forward too. My first impressions are that I am glad I bought it over the other options I looked at, it is a good first aileron plane that seems like it will be able to withstand some abuse. I was able to maiden it without crashing, and managed to do one roll (albeit not intentionally!) without losing control, and I would still consider myself down towards the bottom of the beginners totem poll.

I got my Begin Air about three weeks ago....Let me start at the beginning..... I was not impressed by the fact the ParkFlyers.com did not offer a tracking number....With that aside, the plane flys OK in wind I don't know how hard the wind was the last time I had it out, but was blowing hard enough I would not have been flying a two channel. I got the plane on a Wednesday, and couldn't fly till the weekend so Saturday morning I was at the park at sun up. By the way this is my first four channel plane as well. I rolled off ground and flew it for about 2 or 3 minutes will no problems(hours of flight sim time) I decided to do a roll and about 1/3 of the way through the rear wing rod broke and plane and wing came down separate. Sense then I have just about replaced every component in it(don't know if it was the crash or just bad parts) Bets on the crash. Here are some mods.... for one thing get rid of the plastic wing rods and go with aluminum tubing the same diameter. Reinforce the control horns on the rudder and elevator with foam safe CA where they attach to the control surfaces. Use clear packing tape to cover the leading edge of the wing(this will stop it for denting so easy under rough landing. I had trouble with the TX and RX out of the box so I didn't use them. I have a Hitec Laser 4 and used a electron 6 RX it is smaller and lighter than the original. Now that I have rebuilt it ........
It flys like a dream.. easy to control...fun to fly and you don't have to have a huge area to fly it in..

i have my begin air (wing dragon) for a few weeks too.
i am still learning how to control it but it seems like a great plane.
it had a few not so great landing but nothing seems to damaged.
i use the original TX and Rx and every thing works fine.u could use the
electronics for u next plane as well.i did use clear tape on everything, and
i do mean everything.i recommend it with no hesitation.

The only place I know that has parts for the Begin Air is Parkflyers.com. I second the "tape everything" comment. I use 3M reinforced packing tape, put it along the LE and the sides of the wings I have landed poorly a couple of times, and I fly over desert terrain so the plants and ground are pretty sharp and unforgiving. It's no fun picking cactus out of a foam wing, nor having a chunk of foam taken out by a rogue rock or two. And while the tape doesn't entirely fix / protect against either of these, it does help a bit from the foam getting too chewed up.
And for the record, I have my report about half typed, and am working on some video of the plane in flight too. I will get it all posted sometime tonight.

Okay gents,
I guess it is my turn to weigh in on the whole Begin-Air/Sportster issue.
Firstly, my Radio, Battery pack (and a couple of other things) specifically say "Art-Tech". So, yes, I believe B-A is simply an imported & rebadged Sportser.
Secondly, (frustratingly ) Parkflyers.com (VERY slow with correspondence and support ) charges $175 for this bird while RCExpert.com only charges $109!
After all that I am pleased with this bird.
TAPE: Strapping tape (with the threads in it) the length of the bottom of the wing. Clear Packing tape (not celophane) (something durable light and clear) along the trailing edge from the inboard side of one Aileron to the other (prevent the prop from chewing up too much wing if it shifts on a crash). More of the clear along the majority of the leading edge to provide protection to the foam against dings.
I too would like to make some changes to it... It does seem to have adequate power to fly more than 'on-the-wing', it is not by much. It has NO vertical capability , and much more of its aerobatic capabilities are stunted mainly by its power . What are your thoughts on the following: Replacing the wing joiner with one with less dihedral; Larger (stronger) motor; Larger (or more aggressive pitch) prop; Larger (greater MaH) battery pack; Different tail feathers (more like a CAP); Different Landing Gear (stronger) (Original LG is weak!). You have already begun discussing what the ESC can handle...
Would you have any ideas for a different 4CH wing that would fly this bird, but have some taper (leading or trailing edge) for better aerobatics...
Thanks for letting me weigh-in on this bird!
