I have a hand held starter motor and it needs a new rubber wheel puting on it.
The starter has a plain alloy end that the rubber has to be bonded to...

[sm=confused.gif]The only starter I know of that uses a wheel is a starter box like this one>:
http://horizon.hobbyshopnow.com/prod...p?prod=ASC1750
And it uses a rubber starter flywheel like this one>:

you would probably get away with rubber glue specially made for tyres and rims, but super glue would probably do.Would be a bit brittle though
How are you starting the car? are you gonna turn the flywheel from under the chassis or what. If so its going to be difficult to turn it evenly and straight.
I think that type starter is for planes etc???
Might be wrong!!

Makes more sense to me now. Tower Hobby sells a flexible CA glue (superglue) that works really well to bond rubber to metal like you're talking about. Sounds like you need something with good sheer strength too and this has it. You can probably get it at your LHS, but, here's a link in case you can't:>

I use 2 * 7.2v nosram 3600 stick packs. works wicked with a lot more power than a car battery and starts my buggy with just a blip on the wheel
Other than that a dry cell 12v pack like the one for the h7 pbs starter box would be better as are a lot smaller and can be fitted into the starter.

I know a few people that use the hand held starters and they never have any trouble getting their engines started. Also if you have a pullstart fitted it doesnt matter, as all pullstarts have a oneway bearing in that stops the driveshaft from pulling the P/S. The only thin that does happen is that if the engines are still rich then when they hydrolock the wheel flys across the underside.

I asked a question similar to this not long ago. I never even found the right wheel for it.
To help with your question: I'm pretty sure that the cone adapter on the starter should be replaced with a car adapter that will properly hold the starting wheel.
2 other points to help you out: The wheels are more often referred to as starting donuts, and they are much more common in 1/10th scale. You might try polling those forums for more info.
Now for me:
Has anyone tried the Sullivan Tiger Drive backplate for a 90 degree starting angle on their buggies?????? I am torn between this and a roto start system.

Pahedrus: Get a box.
Richie- Those hand held starters work just fine. Just have to be accurate with them. Can be a bit tough when inebriated. lol...2 part epoxy should work fine on there.
