Hello everyone I am the owner of racefactor industries the U.S. dist. for Go Tech. engines. I thought i would come on here to answer any questions about the Go Tech line of engines. So if anyone has any questions fire away and i will try to get on here as often as possible.
Regarding the O.S. turbo button head, even if the o.s. turbo button head fits the bolt pattern of the go engine i would reccomend against it. There is .2mm of shimming machined into the go tech turbo button head, this coupled with two shims (1x.1mm, 1x.2mm) to give you .5mm of head clearance, If you were to use the o.s. head you may end up with an improperly shimmed head and that can cause all kind of tunning and performance issues. Best way to check is to open up the engine and check for detonation. If you do have detonation i reccomend a complete teardown and cleanup of the engine to help get any metal chips out of the engine. All this is uneccesary if you just purchase a Go Tech Turbo head button part no. 21-0207 (please see your local dealer)
also the o.s. p3 plug seems to work great

Are you having a temp problem? i wouldn't think there would be alot of difference but the OS is probably the better of the two.
If your engine is running hot a really big cooling head might treat the sympton but it wont treat the problem.

The Go head is definitely better for cooling. You can compare size, fins and area. It is bigger in size.

Finished break in and after about 16 tanks had the motor set at race tune yesterday at practice. I'm running Byron's %30 and a Sportwerks HT pipe with the short "U" header and a 13t bell in my Mayhem Pro. It was really cold at the track-about 25 degrees f on the track but the motor stayed rock solid at 225 and idled all day.
I drag raced my buddy with a modded RB WS72 in a Losi 8 down the 110' back straight repeatedly and he had nothing on me. I know he had better traction however. I had to brake before the motor topped out so I can't wait for summer so I can hit the 215' straight.
The motor had no problems getting me over the somewhat tight but flowing in field with no problems. So far so good. For the price I'd say it's a winner. Longevity is the next question but I'm confident.

Yes the carbs have changed from the first batch, The easiest way to tell the difference is to look at the idle adjustment screw. When the engine is in a 1/8 buggy the old carbs the idle screw was facing the front of the car or the flywheel side of the car. The new carbs have the idle screw placed at the rear of the carb. facing the rear of the car or the cooling head side of the carb. As far as needles go, both carbs use the same needles and needle seats. Also the new carbs. no longer use the plastic sleeve into the crankcase and that was the weak link of the old carb but now that its fixed there have been no carb. issues.

Thats good to here. I have the old carb version of the motor and it is a problem. My idle is getting more erratic as time goes by but the motor is still solid. hasn't caused me a problem in a race, its just doesn't idle right.

The Go21 7port and Vspec have similar but different powerbands.
My experience between the two is basically for me the Go is smoother thjan the Vspec. The GO also has a higher topend. The transition from low to mid on the GO is sooner and smoother whereas the Vspec has a more explosive transition.
Its still personal preference. The GO definitley beats the Vspec hands down with lifespan.

The engine should temp and tune the same with the turbo plug, The turbo plugs boosts power from bottom to top by creating a better seal at the glow plug then a standard plug. Because of this boost in compression you will always want to run a hot turbo plug where you would run a colder plug standard. I reccomend the OS. P3 turbo plug. You will notice a big jump in performance going to the turbo plug. I don't reccomend going to the Turbo plug unless you are confident in your tunning. The quickest way to kill glow plugs is to have an improperly tuned engine and that can get very expensive burning up $9 plugs. I have found that when you have the tunning down and you run Turbo plugs that they last longer then regular plugs.
