Default Fuel line problem large scale buggy

Newbie with a Traxxas 1/6 Monster Buggy.

Just got this Buggy up and going with a brand new Carb (Walbro WT-813)

There seems to be a problem with fuel being delivered to the carb, once I get fuel to the carb prime bulb the car will run, a minute or two later it bogs down and dies,
at this point there is air in the fuel line and the prime bulb is empty.
The tank has two connections, bottom line is fuel line with a filter, I pulled most of the slack out of the tank so the filter stays at the bottom of the tank,
the second line (top) is just bare line shoved into the tank...

Can anyone help me determine the problem?
much appreciated. ..

Did you install the fuel line in on their propper place on the carb.Try swapping them around,an see if that makes
a difference.
If not,it may just need adjustment on the needles.

Yes, fuel line orientation is definatley correct, looking at diagrams of more complex tanks the return line shows a bend towards the top of the tank, does the return line need to be guided to the top of the tank?

No,Ive never had that issue, because I run my weedeaters upside down when I edge the grass, therefore, these
engines will run upside down, even the tank.

You might need to open up the needles alittle to get the fuel flow through the carb,If the buggy is used, then see if the
tank filter is dirty.

You can also see if you can get some fuel flow by running half choke on carb.If you can, then that can mean 3 problems.
1. clogged fuel filter or bad air leak in primer bulb or fuel line.carb screws maybe loose.
2.dried up diaphram in carb.
3.needles are closed too much.
Another, maybe bad air ventilatation from tank, try starting the engine with the gas cap off or cracked open...

^ agree..

been a a vintage rc car everything will be starting to show It's age, especially rubber parts.

whan was its last rebuild??

but, first things to check are, that the breather in the tank cap is not blocked, and the fuel pickup filter is not blocked.

To test them both at the same time.... Pop the cap like cbaker65 recommended and pull the filter off the end of the hose... Then start her up

thanks, I will try the cracked gas cap tomorrow...., its a brand new carb and brand new air filter. The carb does not have a choke.
The fuel line was new but it was very tight to feed threw the grommets, a drop of dish soap was used,., I ordered some other fuel line, I will give it a try tomorrow as well.
thanks,
Joe

Yea,with the choke, try taking off the filter housing,an mounting carb.with out it,But dont run it on the buggy on the surface.
If you can do that, then cover carb. half way by finger. If you get fuel drawl.then it could be the other mention.
Also,it sounds like the needles isnt opened up enough.Thats another matter that needs to be walked through.

I pulled apart the fuel cap, there was a bit of old grass in there, not sure if the white foam in the fuel cap could be old and dry? After putting the cap back on and pushing the carb primer there did not appear to be any air in the fuel line....it is a bit late so I will be nice to the neighbors and not start her up till tonight.

Thats cool!
Make sure the filters clean, sometimes oil ,hair builds up,an cloggs them also.
You dont need a hobby shop for fuel filters & line.Your local home-po or Lowes should carry
tank lines, filters,an primer bulbs kits foe ryobi an or echo. They should work.

Also,if the engine is used,an the muffler has never been off. Then its a good idea to remove
it,an make sure the exuast port is not clogged with built up carbon. If so,carefully scrape it out with piston down.
Ive seen many times where they were completly closed off,an some accasions were the carbon came loose
an fell into cylinder and scared cylinder up...Good luck...

I am new to this but assumed the line close to the priming bulb was the inlet as it appeared to draw fuel in...I noticed what I thought was the return line sucking fuel/air,....switched them...running good with No stailing..

Thanks guys for the help!
