I have a TC4 RTR, I went to run it the other day and It just wont go that fast I think the ESC and the motor are all messed up, When i run the motor for about 20seconds it gets really really hot and so does the ESC and battery, well if anyone has had this problem please help me out. THANKS TC4LovR

Was there anything that lead up to this problem? How long did it run right before this happened (if at all)? Did you smack something right before this started happening? Does it make any unusual noises? Have you cleaned out the motor with spray and made sure none of the wheels are binding? (Sorry for all of the questions but there are many things that could cause this.)

It sounds like your motor may be dead - have you pulled the brushes out to check n how dirty the comm is? How long did it live before it died (did you get a couple of weeks, months, ?). I'm just trying to figure out if your motor was due to pass on or if something happened early. Either way your first step will be to replace the motor - I'm assuming that you still have the factory motor.
I'll try to help you figure it out but the more information you share the easier it will be. What (if anything) did you last do before it died? (Did you oil it - could oil have gotten on the comm (that would short it), are the brushes hanging up or do they move smoothly, does it only happen when you try to run or does the ESC get ot when you aren't on the throttle?) Anything you can think of might help to zero in on the problem without spending money trying stuff that doesn't work first. It sounds like your motor just died but more information might confirm or deny that.
Do you have access to a good ohm meter (bench quality)? You could check the resistance of the motor - if it's good it will read 1/2 an ohm or so more or less (not counting the resistance of the test leads) - if it's dead it will read the same across the motor as it does if you short the test leads together. (That's why it takes a bench quality meter - an inexpensive meter won't tell the difference between 0 ohms and 1/2 ohm.)

dude take it in and have one of them run it. then say you would like a replacement because they sold you a bad car.
. thats the last thing you want. a brand new car and it already have something wrong with it. i had to get another TC3 because my motor was fried when i first got it. but the one i have now is in great condition.. except for the fact it is 2wd

I have pulled the brushes out and checked the comm, I got like 4 runs out of it. It is the factory 15turn. I didnt get any oil on the comm, it only happens when im on the throttle. It just started to do it one day when I went to run it.

I'm afraid your motor is toast - if you got it at a local shop take it back - they should replace the motor or replace the car for you. If you got it online write or call - it should be the same results. If they offer you a replacement motor push for a decent one - a Reedy Quad Mag perhaps - it is far superior and more reliable.

Im going to call Associated and tell them to send me a replacement motor and then send them the messed up one. I cant send it back because I already chiped the stockrims really bad, so I put some Team Orion dish rims on it. I will get back to you after I call Associated, Thanks for the Help.

I hope it goes well with Associated - I've gotten good response from them when I've contacted them. If Associated won't get you a replacement free you should consider upgrading - the stock motor really isn't a good motor. (Don't get me wrong - they should last far longer than yours has - mine made it almost 6 months before I replaced it and it was still running then but they are inexpensive motors that are aimed at keeping the cost of the RTR down.) It will cost up to about $40 to get a good quality rebuildable motor but it will be faster and last far longer and your battery will last longer on top of it. My recommendation if you have to purchase a motor is the Reedy Quad Magnet 19 turn.

It's my favorite among the 19 turn motors - it's got good speed and good torque. As for how fast it will go - that will depend on how you gear it. You should read SkrapIron's sticky about gear ratios to see how to best gear it. To get more top speed you can overgear a bit but you'll lose some acceleration for it. If you overgear too much you'll overheat the motor and the ESC so keep an eye on the heat when you are playing with gear ratios.
