Here's a pic of my rc drifter. It's a Yokomo LCG with a Yokomo RX-7 shell. It's an old shell and some of you guys may have seen it before but I'm pretty excited about getting back into rc drifting after being away for 2-3 years because of new kids. This was taken after my son and I drifted a few days ago.

Any chance of a chassis shot I don't know much about Yokomos yet (Can't afford one anyways, haha)

Thanks Aries326. RWD drift is sure far from being impossible. I have been messing with the tires and setup constantly and have been making plenty progress. I should have another vid up soon.

I have been working on RWD drifting more seriously for about a year now. Before that I was CS AWD drifting so getting into RWD wasn't that much different. My RWD is not much harder to drift then my CS AWD to be honest. Once you get the setup dialed or close to it, the two are very close in feeling. I have to say that if you don’t know exactly what every adjustment does on a chassis then don’t even bother.. But if you have a good understanding of it all then go for it!
I have learned allot in this last year in terms of setup.. For example the other day I put some wider offset front wheels on and that changed the behavior dramatically on my RWD when I did not expect any change at all. It would be hard to explain it here but I will say it has to do with the caster angle and a wider wheel base (like how a car with a good angle of caster will bank from side to side as you turn the wheels). If anyone is looking for a challenge then definitely try RWD
. I hope more ppl try it out.

if u take scale ratio to real life cars, yes, rc drift is not that scale in terms of speed. the rc cars do actually take corners quite fast so its not just filming angles and so on either. then again, in rc cars all you have is motor power and plastic tyres to help u break traction while on the 1:1 cars u adjust the slide using also the clutch, something u dont have in rc, meaning we have to control the slide using more weight shift and the slippery tyres instead of keeping the car on revs then slipping the clutch and start sliding. i hope u can understand what i mean

Looks good, I hear lots of good things about those Raikou tires, everyone who uses them can't praise them enough, guess I'll have to get some of them in the future
What Benz you going for? Don't see many Mercedes' in drift
Lots of BMWs though.

@coach122845 - loving that mustang! I want to do one, I'm thinking about cutting out the grill area and insert a screen mesh and installing off road LED light assemblies in there.
@driftingdragon - my very first drift car was a redcat, like the color scheme on yours! I see you have the DXPE low profiles, yeah man those things last forever! I use those on polished concrete, and I use the D68's on asphalt - great tires.

Hi guys. Im new to the drift scene and i LOVE IT!. Im about 80% done with my first drifter, its a HPI Sprint 2 flux with a Skyline GTR body. I bought the Tamiya tuner kit, and with a little "creativeness" i got most of the parts to work ie. muffler, inter cooler ect. But the disk brakes they supplied would not play well with the sprint 2. Does anyone know any good "brakes" i could use that would fit? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Hey Chilly, a few people will tell you that the disc breaks are more for show then real use. They have a tendency to not allow the wheel to stay tight and you may find yourself chasing after your rims. I put them on my Civic body and thought this time I had a set that would stay tight on the chassis, but after 10 minutes or so, BAM there goes a rim. So more show than go buddy.

chillymostly,
I got some Genki brake discs last year, and they are on my VDF - Haven't had a problem with them, my wheels are still on tight. They are made of aluminum, and as joeyhatch11 says, they're for show and not much else.
As bling they look great, but don't do much beyond that. If you're still wanting discs, the Genki ones fit better than what youcurrently or are wanting, to use.
