AFP Deluxe Screenshots
#52
Hello STLPilot. You have my attention. Is the $169 pro deluxe version a "turn key and go system"?(kind of like the G2 or G3 systems) Or is there other stuff that I need to purchase... to make this work?
Thanks, Mark

Mark just go have a look on OMP's website what extra cables you might need to make the interface pick up your specific transmitter. If your computer will do the job and you get the right cables going it is turnkey from there. Most of the old generation radios will work with the normal interface supplied already with the sim. If you get lost post what radio you have and Dion or someone else will guide you in the right direction.

Mark with AFP and AFP Deluxe they are both turn key based on what you want.
If you want a radio then it's the Commander version.
If you have a radio then you need the Interface version.
Look here: http://www.aeroflypro.com/purchase
Also look through the website ... I have mounds of info.

Dion could you answer for me how there can be multiple models in some of those screenshots? Are they placed there by the scenery designers, or by you the operator to fill the pit area?
How about that c-130 waiting for take-off with the A320 taking off? Is that a multi-player scene?
One more question while I'm at it. How does multi-player fliers work? If I have the interface version of Deluxe with my own transmitter, can a buddy use my Realflight G2 controller plugged into another USB port to fly with me on the same computer?
TIA
Mike

Yes, you can use your own TX and G2 transmitter for 2 player!
This new C-17 that was released today is amazing!

Here are some shots showing the mapping of the photoreal stuff.
As you can see there are no limits. Almost all of the photo scenes are mapped. You can go behind, fly under, land on top etc. Even the trees WAAAY in the distance are mapped and scale to distance.
You can crash into the static planes also. One of the most AMAZING features is the mapping not only in the 3D objects, but the ground. The bumps, the roads, displacements etc. When you transistion to pavement to grass it gives that little extra bump and shake. Totally amazing.
No restrictions behind the flightline either. Learning to correct from getting near the flightline is especially important! ! !

All the scenery and eye candy is great[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]. I am more interested in the physics of the aircraft as compared to real life flying. AeroFly Pro while not perfect is the closest to the feeling of real flying[sm=thumbup.gif]. I want a plane that slides and skids like it is moving through air. The other simulators that I have tried act like the planes are flying in water or on a rail[sm=drowning.gif].
I also notice that in a power off tail slide, the planes will react in the wrong direction when control surface inputs are given on some simulators. Must be the program engine thinks the plane is moving forward. Try it for yourself.
I think AFP is the best simulator that I have tried to date. I hope the cartoon cows etc have been eliminated though. Just give me some sky with clouds for reference and a runway and I am happy

I think you misunderstood. I was saying AFP's physics are the best no matter what scenery is used[X(]. Show me a power off tail slide then add full up elevator on any other brand simulator and I say it will probably fall backward toward the canopy where it should fall forward and vise versa. Same with the rudder. The key words here are POWER OFF
. What I am trying to splain here is it is more important to me to have a programmer concentrate on better physics. Scenery is not that important to me(except good looking female pilots on the edge of the runway[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]). It also would have been nice to have dual rates on the AFP version that comes with a controller. Maybe that would not have been possible due to planes created by others. I don't use low rates much however some other 3D pilots at my home field are using triple rates. I use a G-2 controller on AFP and a switch activated dual rate would have been useful for 1 turn rolling circles etc[sm=bananahead.gif]. Maybe the Deluxe version has this?

We still have no pics of the new controller, I know it's got a couple switches and an adjustable dial. I highly doubt it will have dual rates for the simple fact that it must be a computer controller or one with mini rayostats.
I don't notice a lot of difference in the big planes. But then again, the big planes that were modeled by the pros flew almost perfect. Some of the amateur build models flew just ok. I already know that all the OMP planes as close as you can get on the current version. So I don't notice much of a difference on them.
The smaller planes is much more noticeable. For instance we could't get the 40 sized OMP planes to fly right in AFP current, however now they are flying right on the money, so you'll prolly see one released soon.
Now if you like foamies, the Shocky's fly so real that I actually think it's going to hurt their sales. I could say the same about our planes, but out planes aren't as fragile as Shocky's.
So bottom line if you like foamie's the new version is worth the price for that alone. Then there are all the other new enhancements listed on the front of the website.
I can safely say that anyone upgrading or buying for the first time will not be upset by AFP Deluxe for the simple fact that it just doesn't get any better, no hype intended. Of 5 people who have come to my office to give it a test drive have all left saying the same thing, "I'm getting it ... or I have to have it" and all of them are current AFP owners.

Hey Dion...A little off topic however I know you were impressed with the quality of a FRAPS screen capture I posted a while back. FRAPS has just released a free upgrade to version 2.5.0 to registered users
.
They added 40 fps, 50 fps, and 60 fps video capture options[X(], HDTV 1280x720 widescreen resolution support and a much improved capture performance. Also increased maximum full size video capture resolution to 1152x864.
They even increased their screen shot choices to 3 different types plus many more improvements[sm=bananahead.gif].
The AVI captures of AFP are stunning at 60 FPS. Now all I need is a WMV converter that will do 60 FPS

Wait a sec...can a user install their own photo sceneries with APFD! I can actually take my digital camera to my own flying field, make a panaroma image, then make a scenery for the simulator?
If this is true where do I find detailed info on this?

I'll take a look at Fraps. I talked with a couple people interested in giving life to th VTOC now that Deluxe, XTR and G3 are almost all out. Having that resolution sure would help.
Yes you can make your own photo scenes. There is info on our forums. Also rcsim.de forums. First this you have to do is make a perfect panorama of your field at an exact resolution and exact proportion. I can tell you that it's not too easy to do, but can be done by just about anyone if you take your time.

A direct link will not work unless you have registered at aeroflypro.com/download and have your id checked to remember user and pass.
Otherwise just go into the forum under 3D and download it.
Has anyone had success installing the new ARF scheme for the OMP Edge 540?? Anyone??

Hi STLPilot,
Really keen to buy one but. please help to answer some doubts
1. Are this software going to be distribute by any shops in Singapore ?
2. Are there plans to sell the USB cable seperately ? Need those to play multiplayer with brother.
3. Why is the international shipping so so expensive ? can I opt for a cheaper solution ?
Regards
TC

2. There are many places you can get an additional cable. Any FMS PIC cord or SimBlaster cord will work. We are trying to identify the best place for them.
3. International shipping is $24.95, I would suggest that's not too bad coming from USA. Also International orders have to be manually taken to the post office and have customs paperwork filled out on each one. Sometimes our courier is filling out paperwork for 2-3 hours each time he goes to the post office to ship our Internationally shipped products. Anything shipped to the USA is just picked up at our office.
We are working on a state of the art shopping cart for '05 that will have all sort of new enhancements to make shopping and tracking much easier with OMP. Hopefully this will save us more costs we will pass on you to.

I want to see more. I hope that they don't delay the Dec 10th date!

.
