I have read much of what is posted here but considering my computer illiteracy and novice status would appreciate some more help.
As a gift my son and I received a Parkzone F4U Corsair for xmas. It includes a DX 5e transmitter. What I would like to do is purchase an appropriate software package that will aid the learning process, along with an instructor for added oversight.
FS1 has an appealing price though I am open to other recommendations. I have reviewed the compilation of sim data by another poster. I also note quite a few posts regarding installl and operating issues. Something I would hope to avoid. By the way i downloaded the G4 demo and with its limited load operates fine but with keyboard only at this time.
Questions:
Will the DX5e link to my computer to allow for full operation or will another transmitter be required?
I have a number of computer choices
1. HP with XP, amd Turion 64x2, 2.19 ghz, 1.87 gb ram
2. Dell with xp, 1.66 ghz, .99gb ram
Try as i might i couldn't identify the graphic capability-my computer illiteracy.
So, recommendations on software and computer to aid the learning process and to minimize or eliminate computer install/operating issues please.

From what I see with the computers you have listed, the HP should be able to handle most of the up to date Simulators on the market.
If you go with the RealFlight sim, it comes with a controller, and it is needed to run the software.
If you do a search for FMS you can find cords to connect your radio to the computer, but FMS is not a good sim. I have used it, and the rudder doesn't work right on it.
The Corsair is a pretty advanced plane to start out on, you might want to start with the Cessna and hold the Corsair back till you get some experience.

jrcaster, thanks for your response. I have decided to try the Phoenix software to ensure no problems with capability. It appears to be more than acceptable for what I see myself needing. I will be joining a local club for instruction and will most certainly delay any attempts to fly the corsair until some decent experience is acquired. thanks

I recently purchased the Clearview software after having problems installing and running FMS on my Vista computer. I got beyond the initial typical problems, but then found my video chipset didn't like it. The Clearview software was $39 and it was a breeze to install and run. There is also a free Parkzone Corsair available for it. I'm sure the expert flyers can tell the difference between the way the flight models are implemented in these simulators, but to a novice flyer like myself, I don't see the difference for the planes I like. The $39 is a one time purchase. Future upgrades are available to download at no charge.
