Yeah that would be the best if they would do that!!! Indeed it's really scary to fit the glass, and must say i did 3 so far and still not getting the hang of it and still i got the order form for an new one sitting on the side…

Because of shipping damage. It's been looked at several times, Flash might be ok, but larger viper, Hawk types are more likely to get damaged and then it's a real mess.
In the UK just about all the Flashes that come through here, I personally fit the glass. It's not difficult, it's just a process. I'll write it down sometime.
Normally there is someone nearby who will do it for you if you have what I call kids fingers (jam and spread everywhere other than the place it's supposed to be :-) )

Hi Dave

I know what you mean about couriers. They tried to put a fork lift through the J10 box. the model was forutnately only scratched a bit.

I have a question:. Re..The wing bolts. I saw that 35-38 mm with the saddles in is about right.

Do you need to have a washer on the head as it seems none of the ones I have been supplied fit..too wide or too small inner diameter.

I can manufacturer. ie modify one but I was wonderin if the idea is to be a bolt without a washer.

thanks in advance...
PS in your travels....you havent by chance seen the J10 manual? I have a questoin into my local supplier re this...Im almost finished the UF and will start it very soon.

You do need washers, CARF normally supply a washer suitable in the kit.
I have not seen a manual, the Elster guys were supposed to be doing it, I'll check how it's progressing. I have some shots of their models I'll post later, I have to go and test fly a CARF Spitfire now

Thanks Dave. I'll recheck all the gear or create a washer that fits.

However any are useful.... Goodluck with the Spit....and thanks for your help

Yes, colour swap is still available on the older schemes like my "pinky" swap.

Dave

Spit flew well. I seem to have deleted the J-10 shots I took at the Formation Jet Masters. Sorry

found the washer...One was missing from the wing...as Izzy said they are in the wing itself. It was painted over so was not obvious... The missing one had me thinking I had to add a washer......That also explained the washer I found a few days ago....it was the missing one.... Thankyou all for your help.

Love, Love, Love this plane. Finished building in February but just got up the nerve to fly it for the first time about a month ago. I put the 14th and 15th flights on it today and each time I take it up I get more and more confident. It is so smooth and the speed and sound are very addictive. It was so nice having this thread as a reference, so "thank you Dave" for starting it ! I can't see not always having one of these to get a quick, fun speed fix.

Stunning views! Still the best all round sports jet available in my opinion, 4 years later it's still my first choice. You have my favourite new scheme version, I have an orange kit sitting here for post JetPower assembly.
The number of posts and views on this forum shows it's been a great success.

thanks

Another UF arrived today, this one will be JetCat P-140Rxi powered.

Still quite like this scheme which seems popular with three coming past me in the last few months

Busy time but this UF was booked in sometime ago for the DW finishing school ;-)
Canopy fitted and tinted. The shots of it in place clear are totally without glue!
New tint supplied by customer, Custom Colours. Very grey, but works well.

So over last weekend I was at the Waco meet and on my last flight of the day not intentional my landing pin sheared not sure how fast I was going but it sheared and landing in the wing and scrapped it up and scraped the elevator up to would you way it is ok to fly or get a new stab and wing I just am completely unsure since my classic when down from the same thing I don't think it landed as hard on the wing as my classic and it only has 26 flights. It just scares me. I don't need a wing to blow up again I've had my fair share of that and don't need it to happen again for sure.
Thanks for your input I'll get some pictures for you soon

Vinny

Funny question buy does it track OK on the ground?
Like the scheme. Looks OK without the tip tanks!

Hi,

Has anyone been using a gyro (Cortex/I-Gyro) in there Ultra flash? I have only flown about 15 flights with mine (no gyro) and it seems to fly on rails, absolutely love it. I just cant see that it could be that much better with a gyro but I here all the gossip and was wondering if anyone has used one? I have not heard much in this thread about it.

I maidened mine two weeks ago. It flies great without a gyro. But it is "that much" better with the cortex gyro. In the landing pattern and final its hands off once you have everything tuned. I just hold flair and that is it. I strongly recommend it. My first jet with a gyro and I love it. I will put another one in my bandit MKii.

IMO, Cortex would not be worth it in this airframe. I'd suggest using it on something inherently not as stable. When considering the gyro failure scenarios, it is only worth it to me in an airframe that you'd see a marked difference. The U-Flash is already too clean and crisp to see that difference. Just my opinion though

OMG! Someone suggesting not using a Cortex in a jet! Blasphemy! Sorry, couldn't resist. Seems like one day I never heard of the magic Bavarian Demon Cortex gyro and the next day anyone who didn't have one in every plane they own was insane.
