RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
I ran mine down to around 10 -12mm on one of the flights on Sunday Rob without any problems, but that was literally because I took a little longer than normal on the landing circuit, Im sure Dave will have a much better idea than me, but Ive never had any problems and I normally leave around 15mm, Im running the standard Tank Setup with a GBR Jet CAT.

Thanks Dave, this is my tank after a flight, probably a little on the safe side?

I usually run my fuse tank down so that it shows 15-18mm of fuel at the front sitting on the deck, I can run lower with minimal air in the header, but it comes down to the fact I do very few long verticals in the last minute and a half of the flight, loops and 8's are fine as fuel is under G. I have never had more than a tiny bit of air in my header using the kit tank set up

What is the correct level of fuel left in the fuz tank to lank with without risking a flameout?

Yes you can go a little more, I tend to judge it on the hopper, once it starts to take more than a bubble thats it.

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
Posting how fast a Flash will go is only appropriate. Most of us are trying to comply with the regs, and knowing that they can exceed the limit is good knowledge. Most of us dont use a pitot tube, and if we have no idea how fast we are going. Then it is just ignorance. Better to be aware and keep the throttle back in down lines and level flight, and use the throttle for the vertical. Like the pattern planes. Posting a speed isnt the same as bragging about it. Im glad to know how fast these monster craft can fly so as to scale the speeds back proportionally. A clean plane is a fast plane, and it sounds NICE. Also to see it hold its speed and energy in a glide - or throttle off is a delight. Its all about control and smooth, and sound, and maneuvers, and landings. Yes!!
Any teenager can drive your car fast, but we get concerned if we think about it happening. I believe we all want to know what our plane can do with any given engine.

Post was a "FYI only" and supported with accurate confirmation.
Yes I do fly smoothly and aggressive, but most importantly safely and to have fun. That's the great thing about this hobby is that you can choose what level you want to engage in!
Mav havin fun!

RE: C-ARF Ultra Flash build Thread + Video
Hey Guys,
Just finished building my Ultra Flash. What a great build, the instructions were detailed and excellent. Thanks for everyones posts and pics, they made the build that much easier. I came in at 21lbs 12 oz dry (uat full) with a P140, 8711's on all surfaces - 8411's on elevators - no cockpit. 2300 mah A123's x2 and ECU battery ended up in the nose, I had to add no other weight for CG. Very Happy, can't wait to maiden. Here are some pics:

Nice build but I would suggest moving the ECU to another position other than directly underneath the fuel pump to UAT location. Any leaks will likely get into the ECU.
Just a suggestion
Cheers

Thanks Dean! I didn't consider the leak thing. I'll have to revisit that. Maybe I'll put the rx there instead ... just kidding. lol Thanks for looking out.

Thanks basimpsn,
I used Tamiya bright silver polycarbonate (lexan car body) paint. I masked the outside. Clean thoroughly with alcohol. First and second coats are just lightly dusted on (wait a few minutes between), then a few more coats a little bit heavier until your satisified with the look. I used to scotchbrite the inside first, but I found it's unnecessary if you lightly dust the first coats. If your coat is too heavy, you'll risk fisheyes and/ or runs so take your time. Good luck!

I finally maiden my UF. I guess the Mclaren scheme is getting popular .
This is my first Jet ever and I just love it!
Turbine is a JC Cheetah which worked great! Plenty of power!
JR all around.
I found the recommended throws were a little too much for my taste.
It will be a loooong week just waiting for the next weekend to fly again.
I have been mostly involve in pylon racing but always in love with jets. Now the time has come..!

I think the UF would suit a nice aggressor scheme, three tone blue, three tone brown or the arctic scheme, white grey and black.
Then you could fit external fuel tanks on her[8D]

I know! I actually changed my order to the green scheme so it would get here a little quicker. It shipped today. It's not gonna keep up with yours with my little ole p80se but it'll be fun. Now i just need to get some weekends off to get down there with everyone. Hopefully it's a quick build.
