THere are a lot of people flying jets on JR. I have had no issues with any of my jets on DSM2. My Flash will have a DSMX Spektrum receiver.

Here is what I am using. Overkill I know but I love the simplicity of the all in one package since I am using 7.4 volt 2S LION batts and need a regulator.

For your installation, if you need regulators, look at this:

All the Flashes/Ultra Flashes I have flown are JR DSM-2 My own original Flash has been DSM-2 with JR for 5 years, first with a DSX-9 and then DSX-12, both with RD-921 Rx and PB Sensor Switch. The Ultra Flash starting this thread is the same, hundreds of flights-zero issues.
I am about to install the new JR DMSS XG-11 in the original Flash, its been a JR "work horse" since built and with have gone through Mhz, DSM-2 and now DMSS. All systems seem perfect.

No wing tank supplied as std-just the fuse tank at around 2ltrs. Fuse and wing tank is the ideal set-up. Easy and works...

Izzy, you're going to love your Flash. I have a classic that I've put 30 flights on now and I'm just amazed at how rugged it is and how well it flies. Just a dead-honest machine. And that with a Titan 160 SE in it.

As for 2.4ghz, I've flown nothing but that since it came out (JR and Speckrum) and in all that time, in hundreds of airplanes with thousands of flights I've never had a single radio failure that wasn't my own fault.

Does anyone know where I can get the spring for the AT style main landing gear strut?? I got to test fly my Ultra Flash, Great flying Jet!, made the mistake of landing a little too Hot and got into the dreaded boucing. The only damage was it broke the main gear spring on one side and it opened the trunion block on the nose gear retract. So I need a main gear spring for the AT style main leg and a trunion block for the Nose gear Behotec retact. If anyone has or knows where I can get these parts this week please let me know. I am anxiuos to fly her again. I had her set up with 4'' of flap (no Crow) I have to drop in over a 80 foot tree line thats 300 yards away. I probably should have cut the throttle before the turn to final , I used most of the grass strip up trying too slow her down, then touched down for about 10 feet and then got into that damn kangeroo hop. I am lucky I have no other damage! I also noted that I had almost a full main tank of fuel (I have main tank /wing tank set up) after 6 minutes flying with a Jet Central Cheetah (crising around at half throttle most of flight). That probably added to my fast landing speed. I know most guys fly with Flap and no crow. would the crow set up help to get slowed down coming in over the tree line? I guess I was worried about slowing her down too much after reading on this thread that someone had theirs snap and go in on landing. Thanks for any help , Jack.

My maiden is coming up soon and I'm face with the same condition,, 80 foot tree line all around [:@]. As for your damage spring, can't you open one turn off the side that broke off ?

Altec in Canada should have C36-2 yokes?
I still say no CROW is best on the UF. You have to be really hamfisted to get this model to snap! It gives loads of warning and will touch down at walking pace in a light breeze.
With std 2 tanks, I fly mixed 8 1/2-9 minutes with a P-120SX. 6 minutes is a wide open flight hard flight with a P-120. The model is clean and if you are trading height you want the power off before you get the nose down.
If it starts to bounce-snatch it off the ground again with a pull of up...means its still flying!

Which Retracts do you guys prefer?

Prolink

Behotec C-36-2 Tailing Link

Behotec C-36-2 Straight Leg

I was originally planning on the Prolink but seems a lot of people have gone the Behotec route.

The ones above are the very best i have seen. I have not seen the trailing link, but i can say that the new stock ones are well sprung, with long springs that will simply will out last and work better than the previous offerings. (Except i don not have an opinion on the trailing link) other than you must take out quite a bit of wing to fit them.

The Pro-links are very good, have standard sizing and work very well. Dreamworks customer service is second to none.

I have the Jet 1-a main legs on mine with the behotec retracts which work well, no issues or compliants.

The trailing link is the only way to go, really helps for those not so good landings.

I have Jet 1A for my Boomerang and like them. I love trailing link gear. I just dont care for the trailing link gear that isn't "trailing" when there is weight on wheels.

If you are adding smoke, do you not need the wing tank as well? I'm also using a Hi-tec servo for my nose steering but everythign esle will have JR's 8411's

Which retracts do I prefer?... The stock CARF gear with the latest AT struts are top notch in my book. I dont understand why anyone would want to change from them. I think the AT trailing struts are also the most robust and best looking so far. The pins and making flats is kind of a pain but if you take the time to do it right they should be trouble free. Just my opinion....

Looks like most people are using the stock fuel cells. Is there any reason to spend $210 on kevlar tanks?

The wing tank is included in the $210 Jet Tech kevlar set.

Just ordered a set of ultra flash wings and stabs for my Original Flash. I lost power on downwind and had to land in the weeds. Cracked the tip tank pretty good. I can't wait to how it flies with the new wings. It flew awesome before.

UF number 2 enroute. It's amazing that it took only an hour to remove the stuff from number 1 after it took 3 months to build it. I'll keep my knots up with this one.

Expect some work to fit the wing and stab, it is not a drop fit....not even close! I hope yours goes easier than mine did....

On a side note, everyone raves about how great the Ultra flys over the Classic...that is not my experience at all. It flys good, no doubt, and I think landings are easier but it does have some traits that the classic never had. I am no expert, but I am in range of 350 flights on my flash....and I fly my ultra and a friends classic all the time, sometimes back to back and if given the choice I am not so sure I would stick with the Ultra....

Nonetheless, the Flash..Classic or Ultra is a great jet....
