I have decided to steer away from mixing JR/Spektrum because of the falling out between the 2 companies. Apparently Spektrum and JR had an "agreement" that JR would focus on higher end radios while Spektrum would stick with the more "entry level" and basic radios. Well JR got their noses a little out of joint about the 8 channel then REALLY got torqued when the 18 channel came out. So due to that I have decided to spend the extra few bucks and go with JR rx's for my 12X.

on some of the earlier kits there was a small issue on the elevator delaminating slightly..easy fix....mine was on the top of the elevator where the elastic hinge is...like i said though this was i think only on the first kits....

Flap setting as landing for slow flight! I still like lots of Flap and don't have any changes gear up or down.
Any Flash kit since 2006 can have it if you rest the control horns on a surface and a 18lb fuselage! I added an MAP tip skid the the back end of the buffer chine and that helps...

thats either because you don't have enough down mixed in or your not flying slowly enough.
with full flaps you should be in the 25 to 40 mph range without balooning

Ok thanks. My UF climb much with full flap and gear up. I am not comfortable with pushing down elevator for low level fligth.

Setting up the control surfaces on my UF, the manual gives amount of travel but does not say to measure at the tip or root of the elevator or aileron. Anyone know. I believe they call fro 22mm at high rate for both.

With the UFi have 5mm of down elevator(measured at tip)mixed in with full flap for landing or slow fly bys. This gives a slight nose down trim which i like.No ballooning which is a nightmare to control.I use 3 flight conditions on a 3 postion switch (1- normal flight no flap ,2-take off flap, 3-landing full flap) Using flight conditions you can add any elevator trim you need in any condition and it will save that trim position.Phil.

I find the movements given in the manual for elevator and aileron too much.I know this is a personal preference but for thUF i use as below.
Elevator +10mm up - 11mm down (measured at tip) 50% expo - flight mode 1 normal flight 25%expo landing flight mode 3
Aileron +9mm up - 10mm down(measured at tip) 45% expo - same in all flight conditions.

I had posted similar speeds (a friends UF) with a P120. I think 273 mph, just to indicate how fast these planes are capable of. Some had a hard time believing the speeds posted. But i think they were flying UFs with another brand of jet. Go JetCat!!

Sorry guys If this is repetitive.
I just converted my Standard Flash to the Ultra Flash. I can't find in the manual addendum the measurement for Take-Off Flaps and Full Landing flaps. Any advise would be appreciated.
Also it looks like the CG is set at 220-225mm back from the wing/fuselage joint with the gear UP. Oops I set it last night with the gear DOWN. Does that sound like the proper GC?
Thanks,
Steve

Makes little difference gear up or down, its enough for you to safely fly, then adjust to suit your feel
The flap settings for the Ultra Flash are:
Take off 25-28mm (1-1 1/8”). Landing 95-100mm (3 ¾” to 4”) both figures measured at the root, trailing edge of each flap.
The Ultra Flash requires down elevator with flap. Take off 1mm and Landing 4mm measured at the elevator trailing edge tip. Exact figures will be affected by balance position.
Some people like less flap....not me though
