I'll try and bring some gift packed jet fuel from the old country to toughen up the lads.

Not sure if that's a compliment or something else!

The "gift packed fuel" sounds interesting

I'm about to maiden my Ultra Lightning. I've set up my CoG based on the earlier post here, and cross checked that against what is in the manual for wings on (15mm back from leading edge of inner gear door line).
Can anyone give me a tested CoG position with wings on and gear down? I'm using one of the Xicoy CoG meters, so if anyone has CoG setting for that it would be much appreciated!
(I've also put this on a new thread as this one hasn't been active for a few years)

It has all been factory alingned and it's not worth changing anything.
Really it's not a problem, the UL flies perfectly inverted and knifeedge without any mixing.

You cannot shim the tail plane as it has to sit tight against the fuselage otherwise the bottom lid will not close properly.

Actually in the back of the manual it tells you to preprogram 2mm of up elevator for normal flight. My elevator is up some and it flys great. I agree with asimace . i wouldn't shim the elevators

Just some food for thought! Unfortunately iv'e had a few of these Ultra Lightinings and they do have a few problems in my opinion. Iv'e had two that the ailerons started to delaminate. One crashed on flight # 15 with something coming off the jet and the second one i caught just before taking off which would have been flight #16 on that particular jet . I found that running a very small bead of Aeropoxy along the foam that is about a 1/8"from the live hinge stopped that problem. The other problem i believe is the flimsy aluminum angles used to hold the upper by pass in the fuselage . It's too thin and is nothing but ornamental aluminum. I change those out (4) as soon as i start assembling the jet. I use 1/8 " aircraft grade angles now and that resolved that problem. I lost my 2nd jet to this problem. The turbine shifted and than the fuse broke in half mid flight. I buy the aluminum from Online Metals over the internet. Not trying to scare you or anything ,just trying to pass on some experience that iv'e had with the UL Other than that i love the way they fly and land! I must i have two right now LOL
Good luck with your flights

When the soft aluminum angles failed the back of the turbine dropped down and burned the bottom hatch. At 700 + degrees it didn't take the hatch long to fail which caused the fuselage to break in half soon after.

Hi Jet-jockeys,
I have read this thread for info! Great benefit for me, since I have one on order! :-)
Geoff have a great deal of change in CoG comparing to manf. ? I do believe it is safe? And quite neutral inverted? However pitchy during touchdown?
I will try your setup Geoff!
However a question on the landing flaps setting:
Anyone tried full deflection? i.e. 90 deg down?
I used 90deg on my CARF Viper. Slowed down incredibly without any fuzz. Landed on 50m. Even shorter when applying crow.
UL wing design looks like it will perform even better than the Viper?
I plan to use S-Bus2, Emcotec DPSI 2018 and the new JetCat P220RXi-B.
I may be convinced to swap to the Powerbox Royale SRS, due to the integrated hatch sequencer.
I will follow all of your tip and hint!
Maiden during the 2017 spring in Norway. A lot of ice to use as runways :-)
