RE: derjet vampire
Hello
With some little more work is possible to add a sliding canopyof good effect.
I have realized a small kit to cnc that allows to get a very soft movement and to regulate. To eliminate the possible attrition, has added some strips of polipropylene where they have put the screws, that it has a power self-lubricant. The photos are surely more explanatory.

Keep the pictures and suggestions coming guys. Mine should be delivered very shortly. Haven't picked out a scheme yet, but really looking forward to the WJM Competition.

Dave:
This is a special "one off" color scheme I did for Chuck. It is absent the number 74 on the nose. Vampire is out of Canada.
Chuck is planning to install our Jet Central Rabbit which as of last week is now 20lb of thrust. Also, Kero start is standard.
BTW, I thought it important to post the weight out of the box for DJM Vampire. Weighing everything that comes out of the box. . .including every screw, nut, bolt, and hardware (some of which most modelers may elect not to use) Vampire as delivered weighs 20lb 8 oz. We are extremely pleased with this weight and our production processes in place.
The "weight conscious" modeler can keep Vampire under 30lb at take off. Further, using the utmost of weight management, this can be built and kept within the 13kg weight class for JWM.
Regards to all,
Eric

Hi Dave
I took the paint sceme from a two seat veriant that I found on the net, #WZ 507 on the booms.
Love that Rabbit, I have a Mibo A-10 powered by a pair of Rabbits and it flys great.
Keep the Vamp light with the Rabbit.

Beautiful ..think I need one of these!! had built the Grunmania sea venom and loved the model but Grunmania didnt have the proper C.G.measurements so 900 hours of work buried on maiden flight!

I now have a good start on my Vampire, man the fit on this model is impressive. I know some nose weight will be required to get the CG forward, but they really allow the turbine to be forward mounted, all the way in to the inlet duct. The gear wells are plenty large to allow a forward mount of the gear door air cylinder and still clear the tire, talk about easy access.

Why do people post pictures of their children I wonder. Of course parents are all very proud but I wonder if other people are rearly that interested. I have offton been flamed for posting suposedly non jet related subjects so I thought I would make this comment.

Hello Eric,
annexed more images of work in progress.
I have realized the set of VHF antennas and the UHF antennas.
I started to design an improved panel's cockpit cutted in Epoxy resin with CNC with lights (leds)in multilayer to replace the original, with tansparent and printed colour instruments. I have ended the first panel....work in progress
Ciao!

Ensure you strip the undercarriage, there are no flats on the axles and no loctite. I have just been looking through my gear before I start the build next week

RE: derjet vampire
Hello Vampire's People,
I have finished the project of the cockpit. In effects the cockpit supplied by DerJet has a good quality but the scale modeler are a little crazy.... I am crazy.
The kit consists of 24 parts mechanics entirely realized in epoxy laminate and machined in CNC
The project has required more than 100 hours of planning, drawing, cam and cutting, to realize the prototype.
It's totally illuminated with technology led in SMD using the bottom of every panel as printed circuit. (with Led and resistors in SMD)
The next images will be of the painted cockpit, assembled and.... illuminated.
The next project, for the Derjet Vampire, will be to realize 4 tubes for launching the true rockets to place in the front of fuselage, modifying one precedent of mine project that I have realized for my A-10 Mibojet .

Although I do not own this plane, I like your ideas. The navigation light board is a brilliant one. The copper plan provides both welding tabs and head dissipation. Easy, quick and reliable. Well done.
May I ask you what resistors you're using to make the LED's compatible with 7,2V ?
Many thanks. Oli.

RE: derjet vampire
Hi Oli,
many thanks for your appreciation.
Depends from the type ol Led that you use.
In this case, the led is certified for 45 mA of current absorbtion. You apply the 1st Ohm law : R (resistence) = V(volt) : I (ampere )
This led is certified for 45 mA, your power supply is 7,2 Volt = 7,2 : 0,045 = 160 Ohm. This is the value of resistor
If the power supply will by 11,1 V ( 3Li-Po in Serial config ) = 11,1: 0,045 = 246 Ohm ( Commercial value of 220 or 270 is good.)

My problem is that, sadly, I lost the track of my LED characteristics. They are old Luxeon 1W @ 3,6V type.
From a rough guess, P=UxI so in that case I = 1/3,6 = 270 mA ?
Which would mean that I'd need a resistor of 27 Ohm @ 7,2V ?
