I haven't found much information on control throws and expo for low/mid/high rates. Any recommendations from those who have been flying? The information in the instructions is minimal:
Control throws as a starting point:
- Aileron 20 mm up/down
- Elevator 15 mm up/down
- Rudder 40 mm up/down
- Flaps 25 mm for Take Off, max deflection for Landing
- Elevator to Flap mix: Elevator proportional 3mm down at full Flap deflection

Expo is to your taste. I typically run a lot of throw on ailerons with very little expo, like 35%. I still plan to start with what is recommended for starters, about 30% expo on rudder(I'll set my gear switch to give me 85% when gear is down to soften up the roll out), 40 on elevator, and might give a few mm of crow on ailerons for good measure. 90% certain I'll be at 25-28mm on aileron and an extra 5mm on rudder.
I typically don't run dual rates, but do tend to set up expo with my flight modes - more for flying and less for half flap, even less for landing(except rudder, as described previously).

I did measure a friends Rebel HOT settings some time ago. I documented it on our Danish Jetforum, maybe it is of some use (I tried to use mixed Danish/English language for the settings, hope it is understandable )

Deflections /
Elevator: "nose up" / "rudder": 12 mm
Elevator: "nose down" / "deep groove": 9 mm
(Elevator has a slight "nose up" / "height" in neutral, maybe 1 mm)
Aileron (differential): Up 9 mm / down 6 mm
Rudder: max deflection
Flaps, take off: 23 mm
Flaps, landing: 68 mm
- --- Crow @ landing flaps: 8 mm

CG at 187 mm (from front leading edge) gear down, 25% fuel

I was quite taken with the little Rebel as flown by the CARF gang at BITW, and pictured here by Airforce7. It looks like any CARF Rebel in the air but it is just adorable on the ramp. It was flown fast and flies like it's on rails with a K45. Like it's big brothers at speed. The CARF pilots kept it moving so it had a lot of momentum for "big sky" aerobatics. Which is a bit of an exaggeration since it is so small that a 400' loop looks huge No doubt many will put ridiculously large turbines in it, it's a CARF sport jet so it won't come apart, but it's a bit like putting a 180 in an Ultraflash and going hill climbing WOT! No problem if you can see it. Not good if you can't. Even with the small K45 turbine it didn't really look like a good short field jet IMHO. But since it's turbine powered it'll have brakes to solve that problem. I'd love to see an ultralight version of this fly, if it is possible to do lighter than the CARF factory setup.

I'm putting a CRX85 in mine(SW80B tuned up by Andy at CRX turbines). It's only 2.5 ounces heavier than the K45. I plan to be minimalistic on equipment, with dual 1300mah 2s lipos, no gyro, no switches, no regulators. ECU battery is currently a 3000mah 3s lipo but will go with a 2200-2500 if I can get it to CG. They advertise a 6.7kg fully fueled take-off weight, so I'm hoping for about 15lbs wet. That's almost 5 lbs lighter than my first jet, an HSD Viper, which has about the same wing area and flies fine, albeit underpowered with an SW60b. It does seem to fly fine with a 45, but man it should really SCOOT with an 85!

I think a x45 or k45g3 could be 450g lighter than the Carf 45g2 setup. Still waiting on Bobs weight, he had it on the scales to balance so must have a rough idea by now?
Interesting comment about it not looking like a short field jet, does it not behave when slowed down?

I recon you could shave more than 450g off the total weight if you moved the uat to the front of the fuel tank apposed to in front of the turbine
meaning you could use smaller battery’s up front

He was obviously watching the CARF ‘kids’ land it, they landed the Jokers fast at JP, maybe too used to the Mephisto...where you can walk backwards faster than it lands!

Fit the Wing Tube through the Fuselage, slide both wing panels on to the Tube, there is a Blind Nut secured in to the Wing Root of each Wing Panel.
From inside the Fuselage insert the provided Bolt through in to the Wing Root Blind Nut, do the same each side, job done.

Just got the call from Ray. Jets are here! I'm still short two servos. Rudder is getting a jr3911. Steering is getting a Savox 1250. Then I have two more 1250s that will likely go to flaps since I'll only use them at lower speeds. I currently only have two 1260s and thinking they will go on ailerons. Can't find 1260s in stock anywhere, so do you think 1250 will be enough for elevator, or commit to two more 3911s($$$)?
