OK, we have not built one yet and I guess it depends on equipment like always. I thought the SWB80 was larger size, if it's 60 size there is no reason why with good throttle management you couldn't use it. Just looked at the size spec and it looks OK, anyone know what the idle thrust is like?
When bob has his complete with the little 45 it will give us a real weight

Bob,

Could you give us the dimensions of the pipe you’re using for the X45 (particularly the length), in case anyone else wants to go that route?

The pipe length is 51cm which allowed me to move the motor forward 10 cm. The pipe Id is 5 cm. Installation in the model required 15 mm wide extensions to the motor mounts.
I’ll post photos when I have the pipe in hand and the motor mounted.

Sounds like your doing this one right Bob with the small turbine pushed as far forward and being selective with thrust tube, I also look forward to your AUW. Was not impressed with the Carf k45 build on their website with turbine further back and huge battery's shoved in nose.

Thanks! I think so too. I have always loved the lines of the Rebel series, they look fast just sitting there!

The fit and finish are very good on mine, the wings and wing tube all fit nicely no gaps, same on the horizontal stab, nice fit and no gaps.

I know jetcat has a following, but it's sure hard not to consider Swiwin when you look at the specs compared to it. If you purchase the sw80b through crx turbines it's tuned to 85 newtons, so 19lbs thrust, and it's smaller and almost 100 grams lighter than the p60, all brushless, simpler install with one fuel line and one harness, built in telemetry, and over $700 cheaper.
I just did exactly that for this jet this morning. I own two swiwins and they are quality built, fast accelerating turbines.

JP is in the U.K. where there is no support for SW turbines, trust in a brand takes years to build up, 20 years of JetCat support has done that. We have seen people loose thousands of $ on brands like ATJ. Here meetings are dominated by the big four brands.

Ah, didn't see that. Swiwin and variations of it(ACE) have been around for several years, maybe not 20, but 4-5 years. My understanding is that the model hobby aspect of it is side money compaired to government contracts received, which is how Swiwin got funding to develop so many advancements to the miniature turbine. I foresee them being around for some time.

What is everyone using for servos? In the last thread I saw some using the Graupner 678BB all around, so I'm thinking about Savox 1250MG everywhere except the rudder, which will the 1260MG, all on straight 2s lipo. If the Graupners are working fine then my Savox choices should be more than enough?

The Savox should be fine. Over here people are fitting a new MacGregor midi servo 2810 with 10kg at 8.4v. We are running them either 6.0v or 7.4v (Powerbox regulated HV voltage)
Graupner 660 would be another choice.

I’ve been using Savox 1260’s for mini servos in my T-1Mini. They are fast on 2s LiIon packs that I run, all metal case and strong at 166 oz/in, center really well and they also have a soft start which is cool.

If I was buying more mini’s it would be REALLY hard not to give the pro-modeler servos a try. Good reports, good price, great customer service, and they look to be extremely well built.

Promodeler servos are excellent.

Im considering a Rebel hot. Does the kit include the gear, thrust tube, and fuel tank? Or are they only included with the arf-plus option?

You can buy the gear. pipe, and tank separately.

ARF plus version includes those items INSTALLED. The basic ARF is just the plane parts and you have to buy buy thrust tube, tank n gear separately.
Not sure how serious you are considering one, but there's a container shipping this week. Not sure if there is room for another but worth contacting them. Next container set to ship mid November.

I’m seriously considering one. I have a k85 and am not sure if it would be to much for it. I don’t need one right now. It was going to be my winter project.

Not sure if the issue has been fixed, but I just watched the Promodeler guys testing their servos in a facebook video with a Spektrum Powersafe receiver and the receiver was burning their servos up. Since I run Powersafe receivers that's a bit of a concern for me. Not a knock on Promodeler, but they don't appear to play well with Powersafe receivers.

I'm using an SW80b, which Andy at CRX turbines tunes up to an 85. I have zero concerns about being overpowered. I'd way rather have more power than not enough, and I don't fly long, maybe 5-6 minutes, so the tank is still plenty big. Residual thrust has also proven to not be an issue in this jet. I have seen more videos of the Rebel with 70-85N turbines than with 45-60N turbines.
