Hey Sean,

I really like what you have done with the Isobar. Ever since I saw Eddie's on some jet video years ago I thought it was a cool airplane. Where can I find information on a kit or getting the templates to make my own? The RPM website isn't working for me. Any suggestions?

How do you think it would peform on a P-120 if I kept it light?

Thanks!

Sadly, RPM went out of business, and in the fall out, one of the partners stole the molds and they will likely never surface again. As far as I know, there are at least 3 unbuilt kits out there. They do fly beautifully on a P-120, as there are at least two that flew on that engine.

I have over 200 hours in the build of this airplane. I highly recommend the new flash or a superbandit as an alternative. I built a comp arf rookie in three days ready to fly. My guess is that I could do the same with a flash.

The isobar is a unique airplane and I'm glad to have one.

Mark, if you ever give me your isobar, I'll fix it for you.

I have the New Megabar in the shop and may make some kits from it.

Sean
There is one in my hangar. the very last one of Eddie's kits, I believe. Someday I hope to have the time to complete it, as it is a LOT of work. The kit has no wings, no instructions, some foam cores for tail surfaces. There is a nice glass fuse, but not much more.

Just to set the record stright , Rpm was shut down by one of the partners without the other one knowing about it . There`s a big legal battle going on and I`m stuck in the middel . I brought and paid almost $11,500.00 to one of the partners and he crashed it using it as a demo and when I ask for a refund I was told to go F-uck myself ,know I`ve got a law suit pending also. The molds where never stolden and are in limbo a long with everthing else until the lawers and the courts get there money as everyone knows no one wins except the lawer`s . You know I made those plugs in a few hours... Then I paid a guy $1000 to make some moldes...
Then Roger paid me $1500 for the whole lot...Name too...

Now the Layers are going to make $15,000 off of each party... Ten times
what the moldes are worth !!

What is wrong with this picture.. hahah

I sure hope everything gets sorted out... Nothing makes me happier than see Bars in the Blue..

And, by far, the most ironic thing about all of this is that the absolute best flying Isobar I have ever flown or ever seen fly was the original carved-out-of-foam first one! It was the lightest. Eddie gave it to me (thanks again bro) after he had flown the urine out of it and I flew it some mo. Might still be alive were it not for Futaba. It would easily do a knife-edge loop on a RAM 1000.

How do thing get so damn screwed up that we modelers have to get lawyers involved??!!?? JEEEEEZZZZ! [>:]

Back to the planes... When I built the first Isobar, I knew very little about how strong things needed to be..

I carved that piece of urethane foam and put some 2oz glass on it and that was it.... Isobar #2 was built the same
way with LESS attention paid to the elev horn.. This quickly became the Isoburst... hahah

The first plane was 22 lbs with a Pegasus.. Second (Isoburst) was ~23 lbs with gear doors... Third was
26 lbs (weather map plane).... Now the molded plane I have been flying for ~7 years is about 30 lbs with an Olympus.

When you don't have any experience or know how... its possible to build a really nice plane... But as you learn
what can go wrong.... they get heavier and heavier... I sure would like to go back in time where it was "All Good"
because I did not know any better..

Best to bring it all. I looked over the carnage at MS AB and remember what it is going to take pretty well, we have updated some design stuff and I'd like to incorporate that into Mark's plane.

I will probably rip all the formers out, stabs everything take it back to glass and rebuild it accordingly.

All of this will be of course gratis as Mark helped me out significantly when I was afraid to even start a turbine by myself [X(]

Mark, you will have to fork over a few bucks for some foam stabs, I already have most everything else.

I have one of the unbuilt kits. It has the turbine install package including bypass, pipe etc and presheeted wings and stabs. If I can get what I paid for it from RPM I will sell it. If not, then I will eventually build it. Any takers?????

Gary, how much are you asking for it? The new Comp Arf Flash is going to be comparable in size and performance for about the same money that RPM was asking for Isobars and it will only take 3 days to build.

It took me almost 250 hours to build the isobar to what you see in the above pictures. Since then I've put an additional 25 hours into the stuffing of the jet.

The comp arf is selling for $2790,[link=http://www.composite-arf.com/ar/Product?631000]Lightning[/link] the Isobar was around $1300....

LIghtening is bigger than the Isobar. It's megabar size. The "Flash" is Isobar size, gonna be around 2000.00

For an extra 700, I think the Flash is gonna be a hot seller.

No way around it, it costs you around $2,000.00 in time and material to build an isobar. I wouldn't do it for any less than $2500 not including painting. It's way too much a PITA when compared to the Rookie I put together in 3 days ready to fly, and the quality far exceeded what any isobar can be made to.

You gotta "WANT" an isobar. I asked Roger the other day, of all the kits he sold, are any of them flying. He said "you". I told him I though Tom Antlefinger might have flown his. I saw a picture once and it was painted.

Sean: Since you have not responded to my e mail of 5/1, can I assume you are no longer interested in building/buying my Isobar kit?
