Well I'm kickin butt and taken names with my 15 now! The only thing that is going to hold up the maiden is I promised the PR rep at Eglin that I would give the base a ground demo. I want to fulfill that obligation (and get some pics with the full scale) prior to submitting the plane to a maiden....just in case

I ordered a few things I needed to finish up my F-15 from Todd at Dreamworks...boy I like his site.

Ya, I spent the most time with him this last weekend. He's one of my closest friends. You can thank me for the new search bar on his site. I wouldn't quit bugging him till he put it there! Why don't you just pass Eglin and come to the Austin Jet Meet, we'll maiden them together. Nah, take your time. I guarantee a jet taking that long to put together is going to be a large success!!

Mike, your plane is coming together well too I might add. As much as you think that plane is weighing, I heard the record for an isobar was like 22 pounds. My last one was 29 and I'm guestimating 31 on this one.

For me, the concern is power. You turbine guys seem to have an excess of that. (and of course I'm jealous.)

Sean,

Are you using a single wall pipe or a double wall pipe?

I built it as a single, but I'm not entirely done with it yet. For one thing it came out a little oblong because I overlapped too far. I have to take it back apart and make the overlap about 3/8" according to Eddie. I just ordered some safety wire from Todd so I'll aluminum foil the pipe and safety wire it later this week. (I always used nichrome wire for safety wire on fuel tubing, but thought this pipe should have something more heavy duty than nichrome).

It's got I believe (6) 6-32 half inch screws down the line in it over a ( I believe it was 32 inches long).

Mark, sorry to hear about your hand, that bites [:@]

George wanted a couple pics of the pipe. Coming together in the final stretch now. "Bag of Protoplasm". Geez Oh Man, I hate to admit this, but I've holed myself in my garage for 5 hours a night every night for the past month to get where I am.

Bought this contour sander the other day. This is a wing or tail fillet machine! It comes with many different ends you can put in it for different radius!

Oh, and this is what the rolled stainless steel looks like that you cut the pipe material from. Zip Tied to hold it together. Beware, when you cut this stuff it gets sharp! Hearing me wocketman?

Mike, in the circle pics below, looking from the Turbine Aft, does the lap joint on the pipe need to resemble the top picture or the bottom? I believe it's the top but not sure.

looking at the front of your turbine, if it rotates clockwise, then the top is correct.

I confirmed the turbine spins clockwise and so I built it right! The pipe has a 5% taper to the ass to sqeeze a little more go go juice

I've ordered two more engines, a Titan and a Merlin, whichever get's here first is going to be installed My last one ran on a 120 and it was fast, but nothing can touch Eddie's vertical line on the Olympus [8D]

Dude... Turn those bolt around so the head is inside the pipe...

Then cut the bolts off flush with the nuts.... Then hit the cut bolt with the grinder real hard
and it will kind of weld the nut to the bolt... and next time make the holes strait...

Other than that... Looks good.. BTW... Cop car Isobar just turned 6 years old !! who knows
how many flights..

Like anything on an Isobar is straight

Will flip the bolts, didn't think about that. Good tip on the grinder, thanks!
