I am using Hitec HS 5625 MG digitals on aileron / elevator/ flap and the standard Hitecs with carbonite gears on rudders.
Alan recommends any servo with over 63oz / inch for the flying surfaces. Personally I only use metal geared servos on aileron / elevator on jets and this model will do around 140 mph on a 15lb turbine. It is really up to you but I understand Ali Machinchy, Alans' test pilot is building one using cheap plastic geared servos. I expect if his servos fail he can just pull another model / turbine off the shelf!
I can't do that so I am going for overkill on the servos. I think you get much crisper response from digitals anyway.

Here's MY plan for the servos and why:
Ailerons, flap, and elevator.....Futaba 9252 92oz .14 sec 1.8oz Got them when I bought my 9CHPCM Not to mention they are fairly light at 1.8oz vs 2.1 on some others. Remember the elevator servo mounts way back into the stab. An 1/2 oz there saves 1 oz in the nose........
Rudders.........Hitec HS5245 61oz .15 sec 1.12oz MINI These weigh 1oz apiece less than a close to equivelant standard servo. 2ozs way back by the tail will save putting 4 more ozs in the nose to get it to balance. Thats 6 oz savings. Yeah I know Alan recommends 70oz on the flying serfaces, but come on, 61oz for EACH rudder seems just fine.
Steering, retracts and brakes....Hitec HS225MG 54oz .14 sec 1.09 oz. Good reliable servo for non critical operations at a good price. Weight not an issue but size is as these will be mounted up front and I know it will get crowded. May go with HS85MG if space gets real tight!
A JetCatUSA P60 is planned for the "push". Futaba Super 9C on PCB to guide her.
Wheels and brakes yet to be determined. My Reaction 54 has a nose wheel Kavan electromagnetic brake that is attractive for this application for two reasons...It mounts on the nose wheel and weighs several ozs and does not mount on the mains behind the center of gravity. The nose wheel retracts forward thus helping with a proper balanced model too. A "win win?" Landing speed looks awful slow so it might be just the ticket. At @ $55 bucks it fills the bill nicely. Substitue the servo and microswitch with a electronic switch and no muss or fuss. No air leaks either! Hmmmm....

My field is grass and somewhat rough at times.
I agree price is in the high range for a ARF of this type but the video sure looked good.
The slow flying is what made my mind up for me..................

I'm looking to save a bit of weight so far aft on the booms to help avoiding adding nose weight. I don't do hard 3d flying. I'm an ex pattern jock who enjoys all areobatics except flick rolls and blenders!

I am using the Sierra Precision brakes (which come with BVM 2 5/8 main wheels and 2 1/2 inch front). They come with an adapter to work with the 3/16 inch wire struts. I am using similar wheels on my Reaper, and wanted to try the Sierra Precision units so I gave them a call. He offers them as a package deal with the tires for less than they sell on the BVM site (only a couple of dollars). WHen I get them mounted I will let you know.

I am sure these servos will be fine on the rudders. They are not that large. I know of a guy who is flying one of the pre-production kits in the uk (Mark Hinton) and he is using very small non digitals on his rudders with no reported problems, again to keep the tail weight down.
I think I may move in that direction to get some of the lead out of the nose. I have still to try moving the CG back another 15mm or so.

Seems to me that Dave Rigotti (see post 128) has the right ideas for weight saving aft of the CG. I have used midi servos on the rudders and they proved to be fine. Using less weight in the tail area is definitely effective in producing a lighter final weight by a much bigger margin than you'd think.
As for brakes, my Intro will stand stationary with the turbine idling and stop after landing. I have used add on brakes with Robart wheels successfully, but I'm going to try those Kavan electro mechanical ones on the nose wheel only and see if they do the trick and maybe save another few ounces.

I have not run the PST yet. I plan on doing so soon. SHe is still in th box. My friend has two of them and they run great. Start right up and put out a trmemndous amount of thrust for something of this size. I have not read the book yet, but I probably will be running Kero, since that is what I run in the other engines I own, with Aeroshell turbine oil. My newphew works for Shell so I have to support him.
