Has anyone any experience of flying this on a Wren 44 turbine

The MW44 Gold is an ideal choice of turbine for the AMD Hawk. Low weight is achieved with the Gold and its 10+lb thrust moves the jet along very nicely!

Yeah, MW44 Gold is the one to go for with the AMD Hawk, but another top tip - go for the manual start not the full on-board auto start due to the much lighter weight. Manual start is not as inconvenient as it sounds - you still have the electric motor on the front of the turbine and for this model it's worth it for the weight saving (This recommendation came from Wren themselves).

Aye !
I see that AMD still havnt changed the colour on the canopy making the centre bar white as should be.
Is this a turbine kit ? did you get a stainless or fibreglass thrust tube.

Let us know if you start the build thread, as i intend to fit a turbine in mine now, origionally planned for a ducted fan, but as it turns out my fuselage is the turbine version, so I decided to go for it. You only live once !!

Hey guys,
Does the AMD Haw come with retracts?. Does the kt include fixed landing gear?. Can anyone suggest a reasonable retract system?

Hello to everybody,
It took me quite some time to put an AMD Hawk in my hands here are some ideas that I practised on mine and they worked better than the setup suggested from the seller.
I use a J 50 Bee from the Artesjets with 6 Kgr* thrust. I installed fences on the wings as per full scale and I was able to increase the flap deflection to 30 degrees with plenty of elevator authority by incorporating a mix of about 5mm aileron deflection upwards. I did not use the supplied hardwood blocks for the elevator pivots but twin (four all together) ball bearings inside the fuse.I used 58mm main wheels and filled the weel wells with foam covered afterwards with 1,5 mm balsa and sanded to flush with the rest of the wing. The supplied plastic wells were not used. With such a hole under the wing the model really develops alot of turbulences....I did install the strut pants all the way down to the wheel center, as well as the nose gear door. My whole impression is that the AMD hawk is a cheap ARF mainly thought for D/F propulsion but you get what you pay for. If anyone wants a similar size Hawk should get the Jim Fox one.It is twice as expensive and ten times better.

GUys,
1. any idea if this is an AMD hawk ?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=330141329087
2. what did you have to modify exactly in the AMD hawk to convert to turbine ?
3. which DF unit can get this hawk moving fast ? i have access to Dynamax and a couple other 90 size fans with engines ranging from 82-105 size, will any of these work ?

Guys,
Where is everyone in this thread ?
I would still like to know which engine \ fan i need to get this hawk flying nice and fast. i have my heart set on a BVM unit because i always heard they made the best DF units - but which one shall i fit ? they have engines ranging from 81-96 ??

Hi i3dm,
I have bought one of these (the red white and blue) a while ago and I am in the process of putting the finishing touches on it. I have read in a few threads that the .46 set up is adequate but you would need to fly off of a paved run way unless you got a 500ft grass runway. I am powering it up with a OS65 and Dynamax fan. I have started it up couple of times and taxied it around. It seems to have plenty of power to take off. I do have a OS91 incase the .65 lets me down but I doubt it.
I am in the process of balancing it, the instructions tells you that CG is 5" behind the leading edge of wing, with empty fuel tank, I need to add quite a bit of weight to the front, I am just not sure if that what others have done. I would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks

Hey Terry,
I am not sure which one it is, the wings are attached, I got this with a two for one with a Byron F-16. It is battle tested and I will be refinishing it soon.....

Ultra Eagle II no panel lines or detalis molded in the fiberglas with Byron Fan, Ultra Eagle III has all panel lines more scale outline,Etc, With Byron fan, and Ultra Eagle Pro uses the Dynamax Fan, more scale outline, also no panel lines

Hi Terri,
From what you are describing, it is got to be the Ultra Eagle II. I intend to use a OS91 and Dynamax fan. I believe I will have to make some ducting for this conversion.
I am sure it is going to be a good flyer.
Thanks for the info.
