Aren't 8611a's (other than the 5995's) stronger than any "monster" servo? I have been ulitemately underwhelmed with the torque specs of every 1/4 scale servo I've seen.

Oh ,and those 8611a's need some attention. Don't forget that product alert. I've sent 4 out of 11 8611a's back. I hate to bring the french school girls into this (here's lookin at you kid (ET))!!!

Saw PLENTY of super sexy French Maid costumes here in Manhattan last night on Halloween. Unfortunatly, here in Chelsea where I live, many of them were on GUYS!

Adil does not have to worry about his 8411a's...I told JR specifically to send all the duds to you and Ehab.

"Strongest foamies?" That's kind of like "biggest midgets!"

Hey, wasn't there an airplane involved in this thread? Oh, yeah, the S&M F-4....

You know what I have been wondering? Has this plane been flown AT ALL?

I know there was a video posted on the SM website about a year ago...but I WONDER(I do not know) if that prototype was from a totally different mold, and if THIS design has actually been flown?

I think you will find that SM test fly their prototypes using foam wings for speed of construction before making composite wings. If you look at a few of the test videos you will see the obechie wings. Of course I may be wrong and they are composite wings without the outer layer of epoxy material.I assume the model dimensions etc. do not change for the production version. The videos all seem to feature non- retracting gear so maybe they are fixed gears for test purposes which tends to reinforce my view that the wings are foam and do not have retracts?

All good, but what I wonder is if the one that is shown flying is an earlier design, the one from FeiBao, and if the new one is substantially different, and if any from the production tooling has actually flown at all. I have no idea.

Can't answer that and I don't think either of the manufacturers will tell you either

Adil
On your F-4 do you have the Nose E model that is 98 1/4" overall length or the Nose C 93 1/5"(never heard of 1/5 of an inch measurement before, as advertised)? Just wondering because I have an 8 foot truck box to transport. If the nose could be swung over in four feet to gain the extra 2 1/4" on the E model without crunching the tailfeathers.

Thanks
Alan

Hi Alan,

Sorry for the delay in responding. I was hospitalized for a week and just came back yesterday. Still a lot groggy with slightly blurred vision but will be back to 100 % in a day or so.

My F-4 is a "C" short nose versiion as I only have a 10ft trailer and wanted is easy transporting. The nose is semi removable once assembled so you may be able to work with it.

From semi removable I mean that you can plan ahead with longer tubes and wiring and hence move the nose from the body or make everything with a plug etc. as well. I may not be making much sense as I'm not 100% back to normal so I'll comment back in a couple of days..

I now have all the gear, pipe, bypass etc. so I should have it finished and ready to test-fly / paint soon.

I'll post some additional pictures soon.

Thanks - Adil

Well guys I know its been a while but I have finally started feeling better. I was able to work on the F-4 for the last cou0ple of days and got a lot done. I'm basically ready to do final rigging and equipment install and paint. All the wiring etc., retracts, servos, engine, fuel tanks, smoke system etc. are all done.

Here are some more pictures.

Last ones for now. I chose the BEST engine I could think of to power my Rhino.. A JetCentral Rhino !! This new one has the fabulous new ECU with more features and the UNBEATABLE Lifetime Warrantee

The only slight work left is gear doors so I'll post more pictures when I get them done as well. Alan Elena will be helping me with those...

Looking good so far. The nose gear servo is interesting, definitely a short hook up!! How's the all up weight, if you had the chance to weigh it...

Adil, looking good!

I have not had the chance to see any ARF Plus aircraft, only the older SM stuff. What would be your opinion on how much better the new technology is, (25%, 50%, or what)?

Hopefully I'll get to check out the F-4 when I get home (that's if you make the trip down ).

Talk to you later and congrats on a nice looking plane.

George
