Hi Louis,

I already have two of these cams, so actually would be only interested in the extension cable. Any chance that I can get it from you and if, what would be the price?

All the CAMS are now hackable if you know how to do it. If you are looking for the FW 3.40 that does not require any hardware or software hack to modify, I happen to stumble into 10 of them last week and would not mind sharing with anybody that is interested. Please note that this is just for the camera only and you have to soldier the pigtails yourself (see samples from the beginning of this thread).

If interested, let me know. I paid $29.99 + Indiana tax (6%) for each cam and that is how much I will sell it for + S&H.

I agree with Andreas. Loius, can we just get the cable from you? I already have three or four of the cameras, already hacked.

Is there any cameras that you can watch as you fly? Like on a video screen on the ground, in real time?

anyone has Range issue,s?

i have lost one model and i think this is due to interference from the camera lense (extended).
yesterday we tested another model and did a range check.
with the camera 40cm removed from the device , but the camera 5cm away from the antenna.
we had only 20 meters of range.

dangerous...

is there anyway of knowing what the version is without purchasing? meaning, will there be a code someplace on the unit that you'll be able to spot? i guess i'm looking for FW 3.40 that requires no hardware or software hack. i don't mind soldering, but the process of "hacking" sounds like more effort then i'm willing to put in.

Digitech,
I have been using the CVS cameras now for 10 months without any problems. The remote camera lens cable makes it easier to mount the camera without taping it to the outside of the airframe.
Bmoney 69,
The model 220 cameras which are mostly in the stores now are not easily hackable yet. If you can find any left over model 200s with the white iris around the lens, they are hackable with a jumper. Save yourself the trouble and buy one from the Ghost if he has any left as the 340s do not need to be hacked.
I will have plenty of video from Lake Wales starting later this week.

yes great

does not work for us , lots of factors could be a issue.
we fly on the 35 Mhz band .
i am just telling you that if we mount the external lense near to the antenna , the range of the rx/tx is gone.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I'm new here. Also, I think this is the most appropriate place to post.

I recently purchased two CVS One-Time-Use Camcorders (only opened one up so far) and discovered that it is identical to the ones pictured here in every way except the camera is mounted directly to the mainboard rather than being on a daughter-board. Does anyone know of a source of the daughter-board models? I want to mount the camera remotely to avoid the bulk and inconvenience of the whole circuitboard.

if you want one as shown in post 277, you have to do a search on ebay to find the guy selling it. It is a special modification he did on the cam to make the lense remote mount. All the cams came with the lense mounted on the mainboard.

I have two of these cameras that I'm going to sell that are hacked---One is ready to solder your leads on and the other already has the lead installed...$30 shipped for the one without the lead and $40 for the one with the lead...You will need to supply your own USB cable as I need mine for my other cameras...I'll take $60 shipped for both if someone want them...

Crash One,
I sent you an E-mail---Here is a pic of the cameras--One has the lead that is ready for the USB cable and already has the connector to power up the camera with your Rx battery by inserting it into any receiver port..The other has the lands tinned with solder ready to solder the lead to it...I found a spare USB cable (unmodified) that I'll include too!!!

I also would like to find a cable or at least the proper male and female connectors to remotely mount the lens on the two camera's above that I purchased. The electronics stores here were no help at all. I saw the link to the guy on eBay who sells the cameras with an 18" ribbon cable attached but by looking closely at the pictures, he is not using the white connectors at all. He is mounting the lens assembly and plastic frame to a fabricated circuit board and then the other end of the cable is hard wired to the main board. That adds too much weight for the planes I fly.

I feel like the manufacturer of these cameras designed this particular model to fit some type of cable already existing. Otherwise why waste the time to add the daughter board and make the lens removable?
