I would like to know if anyone is using the Hitec servo in their jets and if they are happy with them. I have not used Hitec before and I will be setting up an x-l Boomerang. I have used JR and Futaba but not Hitec.

Burt,
I use 5945MG's in my hotspot and bobcat. I also have used the 5645's with great success also. I switched to hitecs after losing a jet to a faulty JR servo. I switched from 8411's to 5945's in my hotspot and have been very happy.

Hi,
I've used the 5945s on full-flying stabs, and they seem to sometimes re-center themselves. I've used the digital 225s and have had about a 50% failure rate (failure like they suddenly stop working without any trauma).

Burt,
I have Hitec 5945MG's in my Bobcat and have had no problems at all. I would suggest that you buy the servo programmer and test each servo for 15 minutes to assure yourself of the servos functionality. I would also suggest that you DO NOT use any of the 56XX series or any servos with the
Karbonite gear trains (too many failures). Just my 2 cents.

Shaun, 6 volts?
Shaun, 6 volts?
I was looking at the specs on the 5645 and the 5945. They appear pretty close other than a little increased torque. Does one performe better than the other in the jet.

[sm=confused.gif]Shaun--What is a "Digital" 225? So far all I have used in my turbine jets are analog, coreless Hitec servos. Only flown a Reaper, AV8R, Facet, and Boomerang Intro. No problems to this point. Bill

Does it make a difference if you use 4 or 5 cells?

Hi Burt,
I've been using 5945's and 5645's all along. I did have one problem with a 5945 going hard over. I was using a 5 cell 6.0volt pack when it occured. I have since used the same servo in a plane with a 4 cell pack no problem. I have since started using Lithium ion packs in my jets with 5.6v regulators and have not had any problems.

In my oppinion, the only miserable thing about HiTech servos, are the ball-races...
Simply to cheap, and has alot of slack, causing inaccuracy, when what we ecspect from digital servos along with high torque, is just the very important point of accuracy...
I will replace all the ballraces in mine, with quality ones. Happily, I can buy them here in town...
The first servo from HiTech wich forfilled my demands, was the 6985 HB, with carbonite gear.
That`s a good one..
New series are out on the market, with titanium gear. I plan to try them in the Boom XL.

I use 5945 on my eurosport without any problem ( 5 cells regulated at 5.5V).
I've bought a pair of the new 5955TG for the JL F-15 that I'm building, they look strong with the aluminium case, I have done some "hangar flying" to test them and they seem just right.
I would'nt call them cheap cause they are nearly the same price as a 8411...
Jon
I don't see why they wouldn't work with the matchbox, but if you use the servo programmer you don't need any matchbox

I have had a number of failures with 5945 at 6 volts. (that is with a fresh charged 6 volt pack which is probably closer to 7.2 volts). I have not had problems as long as I use a regulator at 5.5 volts, but there appears to be very little over voltage tolerance.
