You have mis-read Ant if you think he was trying to kill the Wasp. He has said time and time again that he wishes Phill well, that he owns engines from several manufacturers and might consider buying a Wasp in the future. His concern was that there didn't seem to be accurate information out there about this engine, and that the indications were that it might have been released for sale before it was ready. He didn't want people to be misled. His campaign was not against the Wasp but against misinformation.
I'm sure Ant will be happy if Phill now has a good engine and satisfied customers.
I agree that this thread has diverged and that cakes are NOT relevant, and that it should probably be closed.

First off I have very broad shoulders and am not bothered if people moan about my views.
Before its shut down I must say ET if you read it that way either I don't express very well typing (sorry) or your not reading it correctly all the way I have tried to express resevations on this engine not personally at phil from close experience of this engine READ what I have said I have always said HE WILL SORT IT OUT how is this wanting to distroy the wasp. Sara hit the nail on the head "thank you" its ok for people to defend Phil what about the many people who are struggling to get a working engine (3 I know of) to spec WHAT ABOUT THEM thats the angle I was coming from.

I believe there was some connection was there not - this is what I was told but hey you know what this gossips like what we need is first hand knowledge maybe you can us bring us upto speed

ok, to bring you up to date with some 'Facts'
i used to maintain microjet engeerings website for them free of charge, they paid me by letting me buy a phoenix MK4 at cost, also for sometime i sold what plans they had left for the phoenix 30.3 homebuilt engine, they got the cost of the plans back, i think i made about £150 profit.
i helped them at shows free of charge....i even had to pay my own fee to get into wings and wheels one year.
i did some filming for them and lots of photography for their website (FOC)
i filmed one of their customers twin jet powered gokart when in testing on the runway at Duxford (FOC)
i then came up with the idea of the Jackson D-stick idea for the burner tubes and let them use the idea, this resulted in a saving of 17% on fuel economy, they modifed my own MK4 and ran some tests with it......then sold it by mistake, but let me have a brand new Phoenix super panther (20lbs thrust engine) to compensate me, they continued as far as i am aware to use the jackson D-stick idea all the way up to the company (microjet engineering) going into recievership.
they eventually took back control of their own website and Paul fords wife created a new one (wasn't as good as my design IMHO)
then Phill left microjet engineering and set up on his own with his wife anna.
since then i've helped them a few times with ods and sods (like helping them offload at their new workshop) and one day when they are bigger i'd happily go work for them.
so when you said 'business partnership' you we're very wrong.
helper, free website maintainer and personal friend, but as of yet not a true business partner.
let me just ad, i helped them free of charge on so many occasions because i wanted to and enjoyed being around people that loved the smell of burnt AVTUR

if your going to comment on an engine going bang make sure you give details so we can make up our own minds as to what caused it.
this might have been a kit engine and the first test run, a kit engine that wasn't put together correctly or the ECU configured correctly.
FACTS people....lets have the FACTS before spouting off.

Fair comment it should be comments based on first hand knowledge like mine on engines thats why I realy can't wait to see these engines at the meets going well because I would report the good or developing news.
ET This thread should be kept open so when the good reports come back they can be posted here so for people reading from the start they can see bad coming good with this removed this will not happen. If people don't want to read they don't have to surely.

Im with you Ant, seems like teddies out the pram with some. I can confirm you now know of 4 engines causing problems, mine, how long do we have to wait, Wings and Wheels last year was the launch, just being fobbed off with promises, meanwhile I have an expensive doorstop , Due to this last episode in Kent my Wasp will remain silent until!!

i think the thread has been constructive in some ways and compared to most threads you get on here very civil and informative. its a pity more facts have not been said about other engine problems with the wasp as up to now i still have only heard of the one real failure and a few teething problems with ecu's etc which do happen on most engines . didn't one engine manufacturer in its early days have to recall a lot of engines due to faulty manufacturing and nearly went bust because of it .
If you read through from the beginning the thread is quite neutral and i think Mr Anthony Rutter has been right down the with most his comments.
Paul it sounds like your in a similar situation to me with Phil. ALthough it is only the last year that i have been priveleged to help phil

Mr Hill,
There wasn't any wasps well the engine type that is at st athan I think - will there be any at the shakespeare rally in 2 weeks time. If you or any wasp fans are there please come over and let me see a 'TO SPEC' or close anyway engine as I can't wait to see a successful flight with the 'TO SPEC' engine .

i once had a Phoenix MK4, this was one of Phills designs, it had a rear bearing failure........i could leave it at that and people would think that Phills engines are carp.......fact was that due to my own failure to filter the fuel entering the engine and limit max RPM the rear bearing failed as would all engines, especially if unfiltered fuel entered the engine.
FACTS PEOPLE! give us facts NOT just 'another went bang'
i was once at a jet meet at RAF church fenton, a chap there (who will remain nameless) was slateing his Phoenix MK4 stating that it was carp because it kept shutting down and wouldn't run correctly.........only when he realised that it was down to his poor plumbing causing air bubbles did he shut up.
check, recheck, then check again.............if it still goes bang find out why!

well your right sounds a bit fishy is right people in the uk are keeping stum about it but as mr rutter is right and i hope he steps in here ther has been major failures in the uk that have been hussed up we are still waiting for one to do 20lb of thrust regards jetman
