Hello jkeze,
I have a complete kit, with kevlar tank, wing tanks, pilot and latest struts. that I'm considering to sell, it's new in box, just have to many projects but I think this makes a great all around scale jet. I will probably build one in the future, if your interested let me know
regards, george

I currently have and fly one. The new Intairco gear and wheels and brakes are good after the lower strut fix is installed. They land nice and slow with speed brakes only. The landing gear mounting plates are terrible. You need to add hard wood and glass the whole area or you will have the gear come out of the plane even on good landings. Also change the fiberglass spars for carbon fiber.
I power mine with Jetcat P120 plenty of power. You don't need it all.
Hope this helps,
Kevin

Elevators ball link joints are weak and will come loose from the torque rod. I have to remove the elevators and rejoin with silver solder (not an easy job). Check yours !!!

Ditto what Kevin, said..... I really love the way this bird flys, very scale like and looks awesome in the air. Iam currently flying my one with a Wren Super Sport and she flys great with amazing fuel economy of course. AUW 27 lb with the Wren for power. Go with the Intairco undercarrage and wheels, or as I did BVM mains work well and look good also.... down side is no scale cockpit, so have to scratch or mod one, BVM or CJ may work?

I built one for Vincent in Arizona who is on RCU. The areas that need tlc are the landing gear, gear doors, servos in the fin, top hatch and speed brakes. The rest of the build is fairly straight forward. Great looking jet. The composite arf kit does not include wing fences, so you will have to fabricate your own. I sent a set of templates to some guy in Ft Lauderdale, but never got so much as a thank you for my efforts.

Hi Hal,
I hear that intairco has templates for the wing fences. I love this jet but there are a few areas that need attention. The main gear mounts need beefing up and i found out (almost the hard way) that the elev linkage setup is not so durable. I ended up moving the servos out into the stabs and have a direct linkage to the surfaces.Interairco gear and struts have held up well with over 50 flights to date. The most predictable and easy landing jet i have owned. The outer skin finish on this jet is very realistic and makes the BVM Mig look like a toy imo. V..

Thanks Guys,
I am near ready to maiden my C-Arf Mig 15. Rene Alvarez performed a beautiful build of the model. Now reading these comments though, I think I will strengthen the main gear mounts and maybe move the elevator servos out to the stabs. Before reading, I thought I was just due to fine tunning the radio setup and then test running the Artes Falcon turbine.
Please post some comments on flight conditions and CG
1. Where is CG supposed to be at?
2. If using speed brakes, is there a nose-down tendancy?
3. Any flight mixes with activation off speed-brakes or flaps?
4. What are some typical control surface throws?
I am using the 9WCII and have the following setup
1. Ailerons (Y-harness together) (9151's)
2. elevator (Y-harness with servo reverser) (9650's)
3. Throttle
4. Rudder (9151)
5. Gear (Gear switch, small upper right)
6. Flaps (Y-harness) (Tall Left 3 positions switch)
7. AUX 1: wheel brakes, Brakes, (right slider)
8. AUX 2: Nose gear steering (Left Dial
9. 9th channel (Speed Brakes, top left little switch)
No mixes setup yet for various flight settings.
Thanks!!
Jim

Jim,
I followed the factory settings for cg and control throws. They are a good starting point. The ailerons feel a little soft but that is normal, this jet was not made to yank and bank. The elev is very responsive at the factory setting. Try to get the cg right on and the jet will land beautifully, no gyros and mixes for me. Don`t bother using the flaps for takeoff or landings, just deploy the speed brakes, hold off touching down until all of the speed is bled off and the jet will settle in nicely with no bouncing. There is no trim change at all with the speed brakes. V..

Looking to build one of these. Anyone out there build and fly one? Tell me about the good and the bad about building and flying this. What power did you use, the flying weight, how are the retracts........
Thanks

Yeah, in the area directly behind the nose gear unit. If you make a bad landing and get the jet bouncing, the gear will fold back and tear up the fuse bottom. I did have that happen after an emergency landing with only half the elev working and full of fuel. V..

What's the chance of me getting a set of those templates for the wing fences? I'll be sure to say thanks, and even drop a few bucks your way for the time & trouble if required.
What material did you use to make the fences...G10 perhaps ?
What method is used to attach them to the wings?
Wish I knew they were available from Intairco. I would have had them included in the order when I purchased the carbon fiber wing rods. [
]Thanks

Ronnie,
Hal Peters made mine from lite ply and glassed. They had three tabs on them, all i had to do was dermel out slots to fit the tabs. I ran some masking tape along the fences and made a fillet with aeropoxy, pulled the tape off and had a nice clean line that looks like the real thing. V..

I reckon the biggest PIA with this one has been the outer gear door linkage...... I would be curious to checkout what some of you guys came up with as this linkage really has been my biggest gripe with whole model, forget average instruction manual etc its all pretty easy and straight forward for anyone whos got some experience but those bloody outer doors really tested my patience big time[:@]
I would be keen to see also what sliding canopy arrangements might be worth considering for the Mig also, probbly would need to by another top hatch assembly though to cut frame from...
Cheers-

Marty,
My little outer doors are screwed down and have a slot cut in them so the struts clear. My wing tanks hide the door anyway so its not even noticeable when my gear are down. V..

that sounds way too sensible... maybe I should add the tanks to my one it would save a lot of headaches as my set up aint ideal and has come loose on a couple of harder landings, I agree that you would not even notice the outer doors then with tanks fitted as you did, do you have any pics of your door set up?..... I wonder if anyone has done the smaller slipper style wing tanks for this Mig (see pic below) as they do appeal to me, sort of unique to Migs also, I might just make some I think
