FOX COMPOSITES Bae HAWK, Build thread

The deployed flaps create a lot of washout. So with flaps deployed, I find that there's no greater risk of tip stall with drooped ailerons than with them level.

can you guys tell me :
is it rail mounted or firewall mounted?
oleo size from pickup to axle centre from mains and front?

Pic 1 is noseleg length (120mm) from base of retract block to wheel axle on mine. Nosegear is Robart 517 105deg. Wheel dia is now 50mm.
Pic 2 shows Robart steering arm, which is separate from leg.
Pic 3 shows that piston is directly linked to swinging arm, resulting in binding at ends of travel. An intermediate link is needed.
Pic 4 shows length of mains from base of retract block to wheel axle. Retract unit is Robart 510 90deg.
Pic 5 shows inboard side of cut-off wheel yoke.
Pic 6 shows outboard side of wheel. Main wheels are now 65mm Eurokit.
Hope this helps
Gordon
Edit: I had brain fade with original Pic 1. I've now amended the length to its proper 120mm!

If you download the Eurokit .pdf cat there is a side view.
So I can't find the file to download? Maybe I'm not in the right website?I also see in their website you have to sign in?
I would like to have the nosewheel strut. Could someone buy it for me and send it to me? I would appreciate it. I can use PayPal, check, Master Card.
Gordon, those photos are great! Really helps me alot. Thank you.
I was going to have my gear retract backwards, but I see now I can have it go forward just like the actual aircraft. Great setup!
Gordon, did you shorten the nosegear strut? I'm asking because I see you have your mains are at 96MM and the nose gear at 120MM. Your model sits nice and level?
Your retracts are air?
I'm doing my first Jet and first retracts so I need all the input I can get.
Help me with getting the nosewheel? one less thing I won't have to think about[sm=bananahead.gif]
Here's the link to the struts in this photo.

John,
Thanks for those photos and the link.

John,
We're going around in circles with that strut.
How many times do I have to say I can't find it in the website? I also can't read Italian.
Please just paste the link to the strut in his website.
Charles.

Charles.
You will have to call or e-maill motors & rotors for more information You will not be able to order it on his website.
You will also find the eurokit web site in English http://www.eurokitlucca.it/ashop/Cat...rPage=10#Items

John,
Thank you for that. I appreciate it.
I got an E-mail off to them, see what they say. Looks like they have a nice main strut. Item number CAR/15082/000. But this item could be the same as the nose strut?
I like their wheels also, but my guess is I should purchase wheels from someone in the USA. Be easier to replace or maintain.
How do you guys view "Jets over the pond?"
Something going I should know about?
Charles

Hey! Talk about changing the subject?
Does this guy have a product auction number?
All,
I'll be back with gear and strut questions. Thanks for what you've given me so far. I really appreciate it.

View post 44 page 2 and post 285 page 12 of this thread to see what is supplied.
Pic 7 below is an end view of the bracket with dimensions showing the depth available between top inner surface of wing and mounting flange. The overal depth of the wing at the retract unit position is around 40mm, maybe a mm or two more. I glued plywood doublers beneath the flanges for the self-tappers to screw into.
In pic 8, I used 1/8in thick tufnol instead of the 1/4in ply provided so that my rertract units would be concealed by the cover plate seen in pic 9. However, I don't now regard this as important.

Gordon,
Thanks for all the info, it's appreciated.
I noticed you used a "nosegear is Robart 517 105deg." Did you find the 90deg. didn't retract enough to hide the strut and wheel?
Is Robart the only maker of a 105 deg. ?

Thanks Gordan
I copy your method of installing the Robart retracts Your photos saved me a lot of time.
I hope she flys OK this is my first Jet. I have test flown about 9 jets in the last 2 years for my friends so I hope this one is ok.

Looks absolutely awesome!
Just remember you have ‘bags’ of extra power with the P60.[X(]
Half throttle should be more than enough.
Keep us informed.

Thanks Paul
For you help and starting this thread.
The P60 should push her along fairly well
. I will have to throttle back to save on fuel. I would have gone for the 44gold but was offered a low mileage P60 at a very good price.
I fitted my canopy window on the inside of the frame as you suggested.
I will keep you updated on the progress

Hey 3D Flip (John)
is that the stock red..with the white stripe added? it looks way to good to be stock... I'm guessing you painted the red also?
great looking model... I'm going to do an EDF version very soon with a Stu Max fan
also what struts and wheels are those...the whole thing just looks awsome... great job!!
thanks
Ron

Hi Ron
It is the stock red paint. I painted the white stripe and blue.
The only red I have done is the cockpit frame because I filled it to matched the fuselage better, A Friend mix up some 2 pack paint to match the fuss for me.
The legs & tyres are eurokit. I made my own wheels.
