If you are putting a turbine on the Flacon, then I would suggest putting four hinge points on the ailerons and the elevator and three on the rudders, this is just my opinion and I have no doubt that someone will dissagree or have been succesful with less, in this case less is not more. LOL

I agree with Baldy. You can not have too many (as long as they are installed correctly). I would put at least that many. After the epoxy cures, pull on it like hell to proof test it.

The price is really good on these today for the sale, you guys seem to really trust them especially to install a turbine on them. I had 2 Rich Models Kee Cats that I sent back one right after another because of build quality(absolutley ridiculous)...I sent them back with the covering completely removed. They looked like they were repaired crash test dummies under the covering...very scary! You could drive a truck through some of the glue joints. Anyways, you seem really happy with them, I feel more confident after reading many of your posts...I can't read them all, but they are still on going so it looks like they are still recommended.

Hi, i have been working on some new landing gears for my falcon, after using several diffrent types of struts on the market. I decided to make my own. it is a trailing link strut combined with an oleo strut. today we went and tested them, we taxied the jet and landed it in the rough, i had some video made up of the landing with the new struts. you can see the video. http://www.rcuvideos.com/publish/item/R9FGBMTV17MHTC4W I am using bvm wheels and brakes. here are some photos of the new struts. if any anyone is intrested in knowing more or purchasing any of these struts send me an e-mail at [email protected] thanks.

resjet, those oleos look brilliant, if i hadnt made my own i would bite your arm off for a set of those, brillant design.

I have recently bought various items (model related) and manufacturers really do leave a lot to be desired, when they try to sell their goods. A simple photo and a video like yours showing exactly what they do, gets my visa card number every time, brilliant, cheers Tim

For anyone interested,

These are on sale at Nitro Models, Black Friday sale!

I bought an extra one just to have.

Jim
http://www.nitroplanes.com/blackfriday.html

$122.00 plus shipping.

Both color schemes are available.
That's a great deal! But, I screwed up, decided to "sleep on it", and now I see the white ones are sold out. I'm trying hard to like the other one, but it's not working. Bummer. The last thing I want to have happen is a year from now, when the "good deal" of price for the kit has worn off, I'm afraid the dissatisfaction with the color scheme will remain. Then here we go painting/recovering, etc.

I reckon it's true...you snooze, you lose!

Can you tell me what product liability insurance you have so that if I have an acident whilst using and directly attibuted to your struts I am covered over my personal third party liability. Only joking, but worth thinking about.

I know this country has lost the Great in Great Britan, but lets pray it doesnt get into the shambles of a law suite society the USA became. There is always a choice, sit in your house lock the doors, dont drive a car, dont ride a bike, dont do anything then you wont be able to blame anyone for anything. Hope no-one is going to start sueing me for eye strain after reading my posts.

Resjets, great product which i think can only make one of these planes safer.Imagine what control you havnt got with a sheared off gear unit on a landing or even worse on takeoff.

My two pennies worth,

cheers Tim

Guys Guys calm down, all I was trying to point out is that you are not covered under your AMA or BMFA insurance by buying anything from and individual, you take it on your own head if an incident is atributed to the item you bought, its the same as if you modified it yourself outside the manufacturers specification, it was just a heads up, I did not mean to offend or cause an intenational incident.

I'm interested where in the AMA policy that is stated. I've never seen that before. Seems kinda strange as any "Scratch Built" plane would then become not insured by AMA.

I'm not saying your wrong or right or complaining......just trying to get an understanding.

It comes down to the fit for purpose clauses within any insurance, if you are using a manufactured item you are covered by the cusumer laws of fit for purpose, if that item caused the incident, if you have built the airframe yourself you would be liable for proving that the item that possibly caused the incident was fit for purpose, designed correctly and that you where qualified to build and or design the item. These days Loss adjusters are employed to find any way possible to reduce or possibly nulify a claim, or to find someway of offsetting the claim against someone else or another insurance company, Why do you think on your car insurance they ask so many questions about any modifications that have been done to the car, even to the extent of asking if different wheels have been fitted.

This is all very intesting, but way off the Thread subject, if anyone wishes to follow this further please PM me.

Question fellas, did you guys epoxy glue the horizontal stab to the two booms? It seems that little screw is somewhat flimsy. Please let me know. Thanks

No need to glue, just use a large washer on the outside of the boom to increase the surface area of the fixing.

Mine tended to rock on the ply structure to the inside face of the boom but the washer minimized this and aided in clamping tighter.

This was mentioned by Tim7777 a few pages back I think.

For those that are building this as a nitro pusher, and I know there arent many, here is a video I found on youtube.

OS 160 FX with a three blade pusher. I suspect it is the Master Airscrew 16 x 10 x 3

[link]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qEoL1QqFbk[/link]

I guess thats good for 80 MPH ?

Good video thou except for the guy filming, I think hes upto something because he make some funny groaning noises. Perhaps a native thing but it concerned me!

Thought i would spend a couple of hours trying to improve the method of fitting the wing front attachment bolts. It is a bit tight in there. I had seen around, a 90 degree drill attachment in a local store but could not find one. Looked on e bay and there a few different designs but bulky. I found that Dremel make a right angle gearbox for their drills (@25 pounds). I had some old bevel gears so made up a quick 90 degree bracket and ground down an old allen key to fit the bevel gear and associated bearing. I used an old, extra long screw driver bit ( the type that fits in your electric screwdriver). I ground this down as well to take the other bevel gear and a bearing. I thought of using the electric screwdriver to install and remove the screws and it does it admiraly but another item to charge and carry, so just stuck an old file handel on the end and it works a treat. Also the direction for tightening and undoing is the same. There is enough tourque applied to fully tighten the bolt. I had made the bevel gears a nice free engagement, but the tool flops around all over the place, when trying to find the bolt head, so stuck an o ring under one of the bevel gear retainers to add some friction and that was the answer. With just the 90 angle and just 1 bearing, suprisingly, there is enough stability to to support the tool itself whilst tighting. Tried a couple times tonight, worked a treat, a lot easier, but will wait till i try in anger in the freezing weather before finally finishing off properly. cheers Tim

Well fellas I am sitting at an airport and decided to order my wheel brakes, but I cannot remember the size of the wheels on the falcon 120 if any of you guys know could you please post it? Thanks. Also who's brakes are you using? I was going to go with airpowernet's set. Anyone know of any thing a little more economical?

2-3/4" mains is what came with the kit and fits in the wheel wells. Try great northern models. they have the Trim Aircraft line.
