If you're bringing something for Toys for Tots, you may want to check with Doug Wheeler et al whether the club is still taking donations, as I believe the club fundraising event has already past and I don't know if there is an end-date for stuff being handed in. I sent my CX in a couple of weeks ago.

Is the dumpster definitely happening ?

If so, I still think we should have a tiered membership, with us out of towners (i.e. the jet guys) paying a higher fee to cover the dumpster. Traditionally, with the "supported by donation" thing, in the long term it's the same handful of guys who end up covering the costs all the time while others skate by with their hands firmly in their pockets. []

Looks like I can make it down for Fri and Sat flying.

It's gonna be fricking cold though - who the heck picked December ???

I'll try to fit a propane heater in the van to help ease the chill a little, but maybe this time we should just go somewhere warm for dinner (like the WillowQ ?) then head back to the hotel for our beverages, instead of being masochists and standing out in the 35 degree air for several hours at night ... ?

If it's freezin cold, I may well be an "early hotel dasher" just coz I see no point in trying to prove my manliness by standing outside in the cold for hours on end . I'm an old fart (a.k.a 'wus') now, and I emigrated (twice) to get away from that cold s**t.

Don't worry Gordo, it may be cold but we should be able to fly...I sent my crew in there today to clear the runway.

It's a 24/7 ban at the field - County ordinance. Violators are subject to arrest, and (WORSE) could cause the loss of the field. Please understand - this is not a negotiable issue. It's not a club rule. It is a government agency applying the force of law at an active airport.

It's a great place to fly, especially jets. Don't lose it.

I just emailed Doug to ask him about the above. Will let you know the response I get, unless someone else beats me to it.

BTW, for the Bakersfield-area guys who helped out at the last jet meet ... I know I promissed some of you a buddy-box flight sometime as a small thank-you for your hard work in helping us out. If you guys are at the field this Saturday and my jets are in a cooperative mood, maybe we can get you guys some flight time.

I dont see why the people who will be using the dumpster the least should pay the most???? I think everyone should pay the same amount. Locals will be using it more than out of towners if anything.

The locals don't need it - the dumpster was proposed (by jet guys) simply because the out of towners created such a lot of mess. If the jet guys create the problem, the jet guys should fix the problem instead of expecting the locals to clean up our mess.

I'm with Ian on this if the dumpster will be there 24/7/365. However, if it's only for the "Weekend at the Willows" get-togethers, perhaps the hat should be passed. If ten guys paid $10 each, the cost would be covered. That's three gallons of unleaded.....

Historically, the club has absorbed such costs as a general expense - but saw no need for a dumpster. Let me see what I can come up with.

I agree Trent. If it is going to be there just when the jet guys are there, by all means I have no problem paying. However, if it is going to remain there indefinately for all club members to use then all should split the cost evenly, JMO.
