This Steve, like the other Steve, is also wondering if there is anything new to add to this thread. I've got one on the way, but because it's not in my hot little mitts yet, I don't want to post too many Qs until I've had a look-see. However, I've got a few that I'm wondering about...

1) What is the consensus on the CG... 190 or 195??

2) Does anyone have some recommendations/pictures on equipment locations that help to come up with the 190 or 195 CG without having to add extra weight fore or aft?

3) Malcolm mentioned a mod to his AD tank, but does anyone else have suggestions for a 3rd tank and a suitable location?

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Steve

Steve,

I have yet to fly my JL 1/6 scale F-16 which has been assembled and sitting on the shelf now for 15 months. As far as a third fuel tank, I did install a Dubro 32 oz tank at the top of the fuse just ahead of the engine hatch. Since I will be installing a Jet Central LPSS Rhino, I was a bit concerned about the fuel capacity of the main tanks supplied with the plane. At the present time, I am still debating whether to do the gear mods suggested by Malcolm Kay or the flaperon setup suggested and used by Imperio. In any event, hope to have the plane in the air by September.[8D]

Hi David,

Thanks for the tank suggestion. It appears there isn't enough fuel capacity (no matter what turbine is used) with the original tanks only. Any extra would help. I'll have to wait and see if the gear mod will be necessary on mine. I'm hoping that it's a newer version and that the AOA issue has already been rectified by the factory after Malcolm's suggestions. I'm also on the fence about wing/tail set-up. Going to have to do some talkin' and thinkin' on that one.

Man David!!! That 15 months must be killing you... I'm going to have a hard time during the wait while I figure out while child I'm going to sell to get some power for this baby [&o]

Thanks,
Steve

bingo that is exactly right the ailerons and elevators on position 3 should follow each others movement there are several little foamies electric ducted fans like the mig 29 and the f-35 on bannahobby.com that fly just like this the servos that work the elevators are linked to the ailerons and they move together, there is a video of the f-35 flying on bananahobby.com check em out these little foamies are using the same flight control configurations that the full size use and they come from the factory like this so theres somthing to be said for this kinda control setup it works really well for delta wings that might otherwise stall at low speeds but they get around that problem buy using whats called spoilerons/elevons and thats what switch position 3 is all about and yes edgar u have ur switchs all 3 exactly right, im not advocating everone go out and buy a foamy but hey the are very cheap and a good test subject instead of risking ur high$ investment and besides they have alot of interesting flight control configurations factory delevered and its obviouse these companys are on the right track and have been doing alot of testing about this subject, at first i thought on the F-35 they were just being cheap because they mangewd to get around 2 extras servos until my son wanted the F-35 foamy and i bought it and assembled it and relized what they had in mind because it was a spoileron/elevon setup and it flys fantastic, anyone who wants to see this setup in action but doesnt want to risk there model should check the F-35 video out on bananahobby.com and or buy this plane theres anoth web page who has simular aircraft setup this way called nitroplanes.com hobby-lobby.com/ has one on there that has vectoring thrust nozzles its a su-34 fullback twin edf product number FW034A $299.90 and they have the mig 29 as well product number HCH029B $239.90 and no im not a rep for them but my son flys the **** out of these foamies and im glad he learned on just the foamies cause they are alot cheaper than the the turbine models, but he has graduated to a turbine model now and ive ordered/bought a Jetlegend F-22 and at jetlegend Yang is having it set up the way i wanted, landing gear/doors/airlines/valves/fully/plumbed installed ready to accept the turbine and radio gear ect, anyway he flys 3-D helicopter with me and has got past the crashing stage, but it was kinda costly but he flys as well as i do so hes earned it, he is very precise and doesnt make mistakes anymore, i relized one day watching him fly that he is my replacment lol and some how i felt better about things, Ryan is 19, my point is that these are a very good teaching tool even for us older guys theres always somthing new to learn, i find them fun to fly and a good test subjects to figure things out on that i feel might be a risk to my aircraft, and no im not saying the setup that ive suggested her is a risk cause its tryed and true im just suggesting maybe others have children or want a test subject aircraft plus these foamies have some unique contributions as far as knowledge and technowledgy, but edgar has the idea just exactly right
Hello Imperio,
I just would like to have some thoughts or advices about the JT F-16 (1/6)..... It has been almost impossible to get technical infos about throws near JT Germany. I have questions about the CG to be located 19 cm from leading edge. To obtain the correct position, I have to put as much forward possible all accessories and batteries. But this is not enough.
I have to locate in the far end nose about 1kg ( 2.2lbs ) of lead !!!! In that case I'm getting about 7.2 lbs load on front wheel ... Wow !!!!
Did you face the problem ? Please, let me know, I'm anxious :-((

Hi,
How come that you didn't need lead ??? Did you use the heavy exhaust pipe provided with the kit ?
What is the dry weight of the model? My is 14.450 kg dry and BEFORE balancing ! I'm using a Nexus engine.
Very nice pictures you sent me and excellent + clean installation !!! ;-))

Hi Steven,

What would be the best diameter of the exhaust pipe for putting a P180 and P200 size turbine? Thanks,

Mike

Steve N,
The wait was actually worth it while some minor issues were worked out and discussed in the forum. The informations provided by Malcolm, Wardie, Imperio, and others has been most helpful and virtually insures that my first flight will be uneventful as most surprises that this plane might present during a maiden flight have been identified. Plus, I had few other projects that needed completion before finishing the Falcon.

Hi David,

Without a doubt, these threads can be an excellent resource during a project such as this. The tips, knowledge and experience of others can be a HUGE help, and like you say, hlep to eliminate any surprises when the big day comes. I'm getting pretty excited.... My kit arrived at Sumas WA yesterday, So I'll be picking it up this morning.

Speaking of pipes (above).... I understand that in some cases with other kits, the supplied pipes might not be safe to use due to insufficient quality/size. Has anyone got thoughts/results on using the JL supplied pipe in this kit with turbines in the Titan/P-160 range???

Thanks,
Steve

Hello !
As I said in my previous message about balancing my F-16, I'm hunting all extra weights in that heavy tail !!!
I can see on your nice photos that the exhaust pipe is different from mine. Did you use the exhaust pipe delivered with the kit?
My exhaut pipe weights 520 gr (wow ! )
I talked to Malcom Kay and he also told me he didn't add any extra lead in the nose. I'm trying to understand where is the problem.....
Rudder part is also a very heavy structure....
Please let me know about your exhaust pipe.
Best regards.

I didn't use any extra weight to balance my F-16. I am using two A123 Racing 4600mah battery pack place in the nose. Also, my engine is place forward with the front end of the turbine (no starter motor) even with the front end of the mounting rails.

Hi Eagle Driver,

Can you tell me who supplied your transfers/graphics.
Are they water slide or dry type ?
I am looking for a military set for my F16

I am guessing that you didn't use the set that came from JL

Hi Steve,

You didn't tell me why you changed the exhaust tube..... Is it because of the weight of original exhaut tube ???
Please, give me your story.
Best regards.

Try these

All the schemes can be scaled up to the right scale....

Seriously considering one of these, can someone please confirm the factory supplied pipe is of good quality and well up to the job, and if not what a good alternative is, would like to install my AMT pegasus in this.

Apart from ordering Kit and retracts is there any thing else i need to consider from Jetlegend

Also would i be best to order direct or through UK agent

Many Thanks
