Default Eric Clapp & Jet Central Service

I have been a modeler for over 50 years and have never before experienced the aggressive, friendly and utterly customer focused service that I have received from Eric Clapp and the Jet Central people. I have bought a lot of stuff over the years and these guys are the best...their turbines are great also.
Thanks guys. Mike

Mike,

You don't know the half of it. Eric answered questions I had one right after the other before I even bought his turbines. He really wants folks to enjoy this hobby and enjoy it more with one of the best turbines money can buy. My next turbine will be another from Eric.

From what I have read here and on other posts, it makes my decision to get the Falcon worth while.
Now, if I could actually get it shipped I'll be happy. It's been on backorder for 2 weeks today. Just as well I'm in no rush.
I know he has been at Florida Jets for a few days, He has said it will be shipped tomorrow at the latest.

Oh, from what I have read, I do trust him.
The only thing that is concerning me about this transaction is NOT Him or Jet Central, but the company I ordered the turbine thru. They advertised that it comes with a particular ECU battery and I'm very suspicious that it won't.

BUT, that's a totally separate thing to the turbine itself. I'm looking forward to getting the engine in my ShockJet and flying that again especially as my JetCat P70 decided to commit Hari Kari and destroyed itself!

I have had a super experience dealing with Eric and co. I have 2 Jet Central engines, a rhino and an LPSS. Recently, the EGT probe on the rhino needed to be replaced and it took Eric and co. less than a week to send a new one from Mexico to India.

Thank you for this super service guys!!!

I have owned 2 Jet central turbines in the last 12 months and Eric is a gem. Responds to emails promptly and goes out of his way to solve any problems. My Rabbit runs like a swiss watch. I have only been in the jet scene for 12 months and Eric and the Australian dealer have been awesome to deal with. Thanks guys, I have wanted a turbine for 10 years and you have made my dream come true!!!

Nothing but troubles. twice the engine (super bee) has arrived DOA and just got a bill for $580 buck for a locked up motor that never ran right from day one... No warrantee because of a small chip in the impeller that had to come from something IN the motor because I have a leak proof screen on the engine.... I got like 12 hot starts, three flame out and my calls ignored or blown off to many times to count... Everyone loves Eric according to Eric so it won't do me any good to complain.. Well not everyone mabe it is just being a blone female instead of one of the guys .... never mind I have type rating in three models of full size jets and 9000 hrs. Let alone 45 years in the hobby with nothing like I see in the jet segment of the industry.... [&o]
But I am had because I can't throw away a 2600 dollar investment even it it involves monetary rape.

Not a Fan of Jet Central and I unfortunately I just got a new Super Eagle. My luck...

If we are all family how come my kin just sent me a bill for $582 for what should be warrantee... when the engine didn't run right from day one.... If this is family then it is indecent liberties with your sister... but I can't abandon a $2600 engine so I guess I get bent over the family dinner table.. My HAD also seems to also be missing although it was sent to Jet Central, Priority mail and I have a delivery confirmation???? Am I to believe the Post man collects them and does fradulent delivery confimations?

Katrina,

I have 10,000 hours, 7 type ratings and have owned 7 Jet Central engines and will be receiving my Turbo-Prop engine in another week or so. I have never had an issue with Jet Central service ever...and I'm fat, short, going bald and what's left is going gray.

It sounds like maybe a little bit of attitude is getting in the way maybe?

I was a big fan of Eric and Jet Central but for the last couple of months I have not been able to get any help and he was always busy and going to call me back.... especially when my super bee kept being a flame thrower instead of a jet engine.... or would not turn over.. It is not fun driving a thousand miles and finding out your motor is incapable of rotation by the starter, bearing finally fried now I get a big repair bill for what should be warantee.... I was told by one of the guys at Troy Built models that he was getting ready to retire and losing his interest in being such a White Hat in a dark and murky area of the hobby... Buyer beware, he answered all my question for the first 6 thousand dollars but not so much now... My Jet Cat P80 arrived working and has been trouble free and not DOA twice in a row..... new from the factory like my Bee. Test Run??? How can an engine be test run with a defective ECU or Stuck so bad it won't even turn over when it arrives??? Of couse Eric didn't do the test but in Mexico.... He was my hero and I told him so .... at one time... Now I just want a working motor. He told me today at lunch that he would call me right back when they (the factory) got back from lunch... he finally called me back after the close of business and 3 more unanswered calls and email, now I am waiting until Monday to get a call... ???

If I am being unfair i will find out Monday but so far I am being treated like a bill collector instead of a customer...

Katt,

Troy Built ragging Eric? Hmmmm...that's interesting. I can not comment on his pending retirement...since he is already retired and does this for fun. I have had two Jet Cat engines...a P-120 and a P-70. The 120 was sent straight from Jetcat-USA with an out of date ECU and they wanted to charge me to update it (just a flash) even though they shipped it to me out of date so to speak. My P-70 blew itself up at SuperJets a few weeks ago when a known but little talked about problem with the P-70 (I found out about this after it committed suicide) and the RPM sensor failed, causing the engine to overspeed to an estimated 160,000 RPM and then blow up...catch on fire and pretty much turning itself into a round wheel chock. Am I ragging Jetcat? Not really...just letting you know all of these engines have problems now and then...just like in full scale.

My first Jet Central engine I purchased 4 years ago was a Rhino...brand new but from a guy who bought it from Eric and then decided he was not going to use it. I did not know Eric but called him to ask about the warranty and he said it had never been registered so he considered me the first owner. The next day the Rhino sucked an extension down the intake while bench running it at full throttle and I completely destroyed the engine. I sent the engine to Eric...told him I screwed up and ruined my engine because I was screwed up when running it and they replaced the Rhino...no charge under warranty.

I don't have an attitude I just get upset when his attitudes goes south, my HAD goes missing although confirmed by Postal and I get a $582.00 repair for an engine that was returned from the factory draging the rotor???? and won't start... I really like Eric and his attitude until lately... I have told him so a bunch of times then this happens... believe me I don't want a problem with anyone over a hobby.. but I don't like losing my stuff and paying for my "warrantee".. that was the REASON i bought jet central... I don't do anything that I can't tell my priest about in confession... or try to cheat anyone... and I know how to install a FOD and operated the engine per the instructions..... When I got my first engine with a dead ECU he made me drive 140 miles to one of the local experts who tried to get the dead ECU to not be dead like I didn't know how to plug in four or five KEYED plugs... that even an idiot couldn't get wrong... because he wouldn't take my word for it.... If an attitude exists it is not mine.... I was building and flying aircraft when most of the people in the hobby were not even born yet... flew ducted fans for years and was rated in the top 5 or 6 in helicopter for several years... but I had to drive to have a guy who was sucking on his pop sickle if even born when I was flying in the nationals.

Make no mistake about this I don't want a problem with ERIC i though he was a really good guy until lately... 90percent of the guys in Kansas City either learned how to fly from me or someone I taught and I guarantee no one in KCRC will buy a jet central product after seeing the grief I am experiencing.... I have burned many holes in the field trying to get the hot starts figured out and made so many dead stick landing (successfully) that they wouldn't touch one .... I am the "guy" that solves their problems and if I can't get it right.....
they sure don't want any part of it.... I even burnt out the exhaust stack that you have to use on a shock jet, toasted it. I had so many problems... I called Eric to tell him my EGT was zooming up to 800 centigrade and he said that wouldn't' hurt it?????? Now it is my fault????
I had him on the phone and he said he would call me back.... never did!!!!
Now that is "messed up" and not my attitude...

appreciate your reply, thanks

Katt

Retire. . .you have received bad info from your source. . .Perish the thought ! Ten Jet meets scheduled next year with two trade shows. . .as well as 7 days a week customer support. Customer always and I do mean always first.
As I tried to explain between being interrupted more times than I can count, the facts show this was FOD and not compressor failure. When a compressor blade (always the tip) breaks, it is most always ingested , goes through the diffuser and ends up in the turbine or against the ngv. When it passes through the diffuser, it creates damage as it passes. Your diffuser had no visible signs of damage hence, FOD. Picture to follow.
You failed to mention, the return call you were waiting for was confirmation or denial of your request for a reduced price on the repairs. As of this moment, I have not had that call. As I explained, we are closed Saturday and Sunday. This disappointed you. Sorry, our technicians and managers have families as well.
You will receive a call from me Monday after I discuss your request with our staff.

Thank you,
Eric

Katt,

I'm posting this for Eric since he can't from his iphone tonight. You said you had a FOD screen on this? Maybe it came loose because it sure ate some garbage.
