Also, do not "fishmouth' the vent tube, leave it open. You should have as much flow into the tank as a vent, as you do for fuel to leave. There should be no undue pressure differntial. These turbine pumps draw fuel at a much higher rate than what you are used to on a glow or gas engine. I have seen a similar thing happen with a plugged vent line. The turbine would shut down when the throttle was increased, but then would start back up, since by the time you got around to starting it again, the pressure would have equalized in the tank.
Sounds like ou are on the right track though.

Words of advise for the Fuel System....''Big is Better''

Run the largest line you can for all plumbing up to the UAT, also use the same large line for the vents.
You may also need to drill out you clunks to a larger diameter.

I had a fuel system set up in my Rafale with one restriction in the fuel system (Jet Cat Fuel filter) and it would not allow my Turbine to go to full power and the pump pulse width was going through the roof, after replacing the filter with the Hanger 9 unit all was good

I try to run .187'' I.D. tubing for all interconnections
I use the JetCat filter for my P200SX (750 ml/minute), as well on 5 P160SX's, no problems, pump voltages stays at normal.
My vent lines are always 4 mm Festo, also no problem.
Now, the problem for me on the P200SX was the lines from the tanks to the UAT, if I did not use 6 mm Festo, the UAT would collapse, and bubbles would be created in the UAT (cavitation?)

I was finally able to fire up my K-80E the other day and all I have to say is WOW! Awesome turbine!!! It started on the 1st try and ran as expected. All factory settings were unchanged other than the gas valve was set at 60% and the glow was set at 32. These setting were recommended for use with a regulated valve for straight propane starts.

Thank you Barry for the unbelievable service from the purchase all the way to 1st start. The fact that you were able to call me while your wife was in labor still blows me away and just shows me how much you stand by your product and value your customers. For your sake, I hope your wife was heavily medicated and wont remember you leaving the delivery room to make the call .

Congrats again on your second child and I look forward to meeting you and everyone else this year at LA Jets!

Yeah.

I would have been, in a manner of speaking, a dead dog. Congrats, though!

Thanks guys, it was really during Michelle’s epidural process and had to be kicked out of the delivery room for about an hour, otherwise Shaun is right - dead dog for good.

Does anyone know if there is a "last chance" filter on the K80's.So far I have had no luck.I took my pump out and tried it on another k-80 and it got full power.Looks like I'm pulling this thing out of the jet again and back on the test stand.Idles fine but at full throttle hits 98000 then goes up to 102000 then back down 98000 then back up to 102000.it will do this the whole tank.

If I have plugged nozzles would it not idle very well?

Did you use the filter that came with the engine. Ifso did you clean it out after you redid the fuel lines.

Highly doubt it is a nozzle issue unless the engine appears to be running really uneven. You can view the evenness of the burn from the rear as the engine is running (get back about 20'). Look for concentric burn pattern around the circumference. If the burn is clean, this is not your issue.

I suggest you put the engine back in the box and send it back for testing. I can send a replacement from here if Barry does not have any available.

Well here is the install of the KingTech K-80 in the sabre. looks like next weekend will be the remaiden of the Sabre. Note the FOD screen. I made this out of a tea strainer and that foam rubber craft sheet the kids make letters and stuff from.

Here is the Sabre with the KingTech K-80 installed ready for the test flights. I hope to do it this weekend but there is a chance of thunderstorms. May have to wait until next weekend.
Dry weight is 22lbs.

Here she is.

After 6 test run fore a total of app 8-10 minutes running it was time to try the turbin in my Rafale. Fuel system had bean flushed several time and everything was ready for the big day. Turbine spool up fine to idle but seams to hesitate fore a half second on its way to full throttle. Back to idle after about 10secund at 145000 rpm. Next I gave full throttle but at 70-80000rpm it was over. Suddenly stop and a terrible sound. I use pressurised air to cool down turbine. Front compressor damage and everything is total stuck. Can&rsquo;t turn anything. During 3 test run in test jig I notice high speed vibration at app 70-80000rpm so this turbine has to be out of balance from factory. I haven&rsquo;t done any modification or loosen any bolts other than turn outlet cone so temp sensor fit my mounting. What now? Return turbine to factory?</span>

I amnot a professional by any stretch of the imagination, but Its fairly obvious you have had a bearing failure. Whether this was caused by a faulty bearing, or imbalance I cannot say as I have never seen this in person, However i am sure Barry can help you. Kingtech is beginning to gain respect in many peoples eyes because of a quality product and superb customer service. What was your oil ratio if I may ask?

Barry. Thanks for quick respons. I wil send turbine back to factory. Serial number is 0911176. I use kero from Statoil in Norway mix with 5% Statoil Aquaway 2-stroke oil for outboard engines. (approvals: NMMA TC-W3tm)

Rossi63,

I understand your issue. Been there, down that.......mine was 3 to 4 minutes. The replacement is on it's way from Taiwan. They have great warranty. Replaced without question. Great service.
