Hi Fritz
is that one of the keyfob cameras from eBay or hobby city? Any chance of a picture of where you mounted it on the model? The quality looks fantastic!! I don't envy you having that building at the end of the runway, it sure makes finals interesting. Duncan |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Wow! Congratulations Fritz! Really nice video!

Elevator Servos and rods
Hi all, I am up to installing the servos into the elevators and rudder, I see (looking way back) that some of you fitted the servos into the fuz. Carsten, I see you did this, but if I fit the Digitech horns so they are at right angles to the hinge line, then either the servo is going to be positioned a long way from the root rib on the fuz, or if it is parallel to the root rib, which it seems that how Carsten fitted his, then the push rod is going to be at quite an angle to the horns. I am using the Digitec horns plus a 3mm ball link at the horn, so does it matter if the direction of push (or pull) when actuating the elevator is out of line with the direction of the horns, ie the push rod will not be at right angles to the hinge line. Or should I try and fit the servos so the rod is at right angles to the hinge line. I am using JR 8911 servos. Regards To all Ross |

I've flown my Viper few times and this has to be one of the better planes I've flown so far. [8D]
Had a great day today and can't wait to fly it some more! :D |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
@Sverrir: That looks very Nice :D
@Ross: I don't think there will be a problem with the angle, when looking at mine there is not much of an angle to it, it is so little that I didnøt even think about it when I mounted it, and it works ok. Also, there isn't that much deflection on the elevator anyway I mounted the servos in the fuselage as I thought that was the easiest, lots of room for the servos, and no need to connect/disconnect cables when assembling. I know you will have to connect the pushrods, but it's easier to see if a mechanical link is going bad than a solder joint in a connector |

RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Information Please.
I am working on my Viperjet and hasve a couple of questions: I will attach the Elevators permanently to the fuz, But I am not happy with the idea of using the A/H screw into the aluminium tag, especially as the head of the screw is very obvious. What have others done to permanently attach the elevators. Similarly for the fin and rudder, I will mount this permanently, I thought of gluing the front and rear rods where they go into the fuz Comments please.. I am considering using the fuel units that Digitech have made to fit into the fuelling points that the fullsize has on the wings, (just outboard from the fuz), my concern about using these is, as they are quite large they will stand out against the paint on the wings. Has anyone used the Digitech fuelling units and if so how do they look when mounted on the wing stubs. Regards to all Ross |

they cover exactly the panel line that is on your fuselage
|
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Thanks Sandor,
Yes I realise they go where the panel lines are, but did you recess them into the fuz, so they are not so obvious, and did you paint them? By the way the carbon horns are tremendous thanks, I have used 2 on each flying surface, with a ball link between. Thanks Ross |

RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Just fitting the bypass and got a question. The pipe fits inside the end of the bypass right? It doesn't go over the outside does it as it seems to fit over it quite well.

Hi Murray
Yes the Thrust tube fits over the bypass by about 15mm, i should have some pics somewhere, they are on this thread, but god knows where lol Duncan |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
Thanks Duncan. I was worried about the heat from the exhaust burning the bypass.
Murray[8D] |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
No worries
As long as the turbine sits nice and square and the inside of the byass has a few coats of BVM heat shield, then it should be fine. I coat the last 4-5" of the bypass and it seems to do the job cheers Duncan |
RE: Another Skymaster Viper
What size servo arms are you using on the Viper Jet, elev., ail., rudd., steering, etc. Thanks
