ghey front knuckle arm!
I can't have a single bash session without the bottom screw coming out. I also replaced the knuckle arm and it still does teh same thing. How can I fix this? I doubt locktite would work because it isn't being threaded into metal.. hrm..
Is there a quick fix for this or do I have to go straight to aluminum?
thanks in advance

52 came with the stock MT2 RTR and I never changed it, just the clutch bell gear. Maybe I should try the 49.

wyumez, Try this. Turn the vehicle so the screw hole is facing up. Put a drop or two of CA glue in the hole and then insert the screw. Let it sit over night. It has worked for me in the past. It will not lock the screw so you can not get it out later if needed.

okI got my car back together except my brake isn't working. Does anyone know an adjustment I coud make? I tried adjusting my trim level on radio, I tried adjusting themetal shoes around disk. Everything else looks ok. How loose should the metal shoes be around brake? Well maybe I'll get it running by tomorrow, I don't think my tennents would appreciate my starting it up at 9pm.

still working on car I'm hoping to have it runing tomorrow but I doubt it. I'm back to square one. I have everything taken back apart and I'm on the verge on throwing this piece of s#!t car in the trash compactor. How hard should the fly wheel be to turn. I could barely turn the flywheel when everything was put togetther, I've had so many probs its getting ridiculous. I had to shim the brake back and I put a washer on before flywheel to move it forward so the brake and flywheel would not rub. Is that ok? Basically I got the new motor took off the lock washer thing that someone said to I put a regular washer on against the bearing put the flywheel on the screwed on the pilot shaft.clipped on clutch shoes put a washer then the clutch needle bearing, put the clutch bell on a washer then screwed in the washer through clutch bearing and into pilot shaft. Then I mounted the motor checked mesh, put on throttle linkage, adjusted it, and I thought I was good to go, but apparently not. When I was checking the mesh and all my screws I noticed what looks like netal shavings on chasis in the area of clutch bell/flywheel/spur gear. I had no idea where it could have come from so i tried to move fly wheel and it would not move well it moved anout half a turn but it didn't sound good and it was really hard, does anyone think I got a bad motor or is it just new. Anyways I took everything apart again. The motor looks fine and spins freely when its sitting in my hand. I guess its obvious I'm doing something wrong. I'm wondering if its the first washer that I have mounted against motor between the bearing for crankshaft and the flywheel (the original one from MT2)
And des sorry for bothering so much but since you had an MT2 and dropped the .18 in can you please list the complete mods that you had to do to get it to fit right. what is your setup starting from open the box that the .18cv-x came out of. I don't see why I'd have to do anything different.
Well I'm officailly done for the night, I had another long day/night of working on car. I figured I spent about 8 solid hrs on it. Just incase anyone is keeping track I've had my car now for 37 days, Never drove it even three feet. used up $20 in gas trying to start it originally, used up over $20 worth of plugs, then broke my con rod and piston so how and soent another $170 on a new motor and more accessories. I'm in over $700-800 on this piece of crap that I've never even seen run. I wish I could just pay someone to get it going but none of the LHS do anywork on your car, they just give you advice. Anyways time for a 32oz gin and tonic, or maybe I'll just make it all gin, it's hard to relax after a stressful day I had, and the worse part is tomorrow don't look any better, in my opinion I'm on my to blowing another engine.

hello guys, i just bought a new hpi mt2. i got home last night and thought i'd start the break in process. when i tried to start it for the first time with the roto start it sounded like a lot of metal hitting metal. when it did start the sound went away. so i took the igniter off and the car quit. so i tried it again. same sound so i thing it might be the roto start on the motor. start right up with than a sec. pulled the igniter off it died. started again left the igniter on thinking it might need to get the plug hotter before i take it off. let it stay on for about 15 sec., fuel is spitting and dripping out the pipe alot. pulled the igniter off car quit. ok getting a little mad but not too much. tried to start again, it would not... flooded. pulled the plug turned over the motor with the roto start, no sharp noise like metal hitting metal nice and semi quit like it should sound like when you start any other rc. ok not i think it might be the plug hitting the cylinder. very mad now. i drained the fuel put avery thing back up mixed 2 or 3 drinks and quit for the night. does any of this sound familiar to yall at all, or did i get a new lemon. i never had this kind of problem with any other rc.

Sounds similar to my probs when I started. If the motor stops when igniter is off it's either a bad plug or you're running it so rich the engine is getting to much gas so the glow plug igniter needs to stay on to keep plug hot enough to burn off all excess gas. Try turning the low needle about 1/16 to 1/8 and try again. I recommend to call hpi soon or where ever you got it from. Are you sure the metal sound is from motor and not roto start. Sometimes when engine is flooded roto start makes a clicking noise. I know it's not the piston hitting plug unless you got the wrong plug. Sorry I do't have more advice but it sounds like the day I got mine over a month ago. I'm no idiot and I still haven't got mine runnig and I actually blew the original engine somehow. Which is funny since I've never ran it with out my temp gauge handy and I never leaned it out and ran it. Hopefully you haven't caused any damage yet, if gas is spitting out you should be ok (but I thought I was too). one thing not to do is over adjust. I might have been guilty of that, by the 3rd or 4th day I had my truck I was getting so pissed it wasn't running that I started adjusting too many things and had trouble getting back to original settings. Just remember even an 1/8 turn is a big adjustment and it also takes the motor to run for a few i minute for setting to take effect. GET PROFESSIONAL ADVICE!!!! don't be a stooge like me. or you'll find yourself in front of your computer begging 13-14 year old kids for help and a month later your car still won't be running. BTW I didn't mean offense about the kid joke, I'll take any help I can get.

I'll be trying my new setup in about 1hr once battery charges. Everything looks ok but I'm sure I'll screw it up and end up crying in here before tonight, anyways sorry for all the *****ing. Please don't take the time to respond to any of my earlier questions at this time. I got my junk together you might as well wait till I screw up something new.

2THPIC, It sure sounds like you are to rich to keep the glow plug hot. Do not adjust the LSN. The LSN is the last adjustmnets you make when all the brake in and high speed tuning is done. With fuel spitting out the exhaust you are to rich. Turn the HSN clockwise 1/4 turn and restart. The roto starter system on HPI vehicles is noisy. If you are conserned about the noise. Remove the glow plug and turn the engine over slowly by hand using the flywheel. Rock the flywheel back and forth in different locations. If you feel any binding or hear any clicking you should take the engine apart an inspect it. Do this with the glow plug out. You do not want to be fighting compresson. Put the glow plug back in and trun the engine over the same way. If the glow plug is hitting the piston you will feel it. I hope I was able to help.

jpep yes you do need to take the collet off, use a small fine screw driver to pry it up i use jewelers screwdrivers and it takes a few mins to get it but just be patient and it will come for you

here's where I'm at, before I tried starting my car the thing would roll a few feet when pushed on ground. I tried starting it and it ran for about 30-40 secs and stalled, I made some adjustments and it would run and stall. Anyways while it was running the wheels were spinning very fast but if I put it on the ground it would stall so I tried rotating the wheels by hand and now its like the both won't spin at same time is that normal?

Check your throttle linkage, your brake could be dragging..

also i found if the carb setting is not set to proper gap for idle speed, use throttle adjust so it stays open just a bit more then when in neutral without adjustedsettings

Hey guys need your help again with something. I was thinking of putting this engine in my MT2 (18SS kit) [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGGP7&P=0]THIS MOTOR[/link] But I want to make sure it will fit without any major mods? Pay attention to the crankshaft length. Between this motor and the kit supplied stuff can I get this in there or do I need other stuff? Just for the heck of it today I took my 18TM out of my other truck and tried fitting it in the MT2 but the kit supplied flywheel doesnt fit the 18TM, So I just wanna make sure this other engine will work.
Thanks for any info.
