lol, you should try those porsche S4 928 engines...not fun...seriously not fun. Much prefer the bike for more simplicity...to a degree anyway.

hey coohead
yea. most of us like to keep our toys clean.
there is a few reasons why i like to keep my cars clean.
when i`m not playing with them i like to display them.
it makes it easier to find worn and broken parts.
i just had to tear down my savage beacuse it went swinning
in a lake and i found a few things wrong with it.
its all nice and clean and shiny now.
i`m very fussy keeping my cars clean.
this coming from a guy who pulled the engine in his real car
just to clean the engine and fire wall area.
i had a cooling hose go and sprayed antifreeze on over the engine.

Anyone have a good idea about the the suspension viscosity for the MT2. i am not too sure yet as this is much lighter and smaller than my other beasts.

My MT2 was RTR...my first and only RC car. Upgraded the motor to OS18 when I burned up the original T15.
What planes?
Mountian Models ("MM") Dandy
MM P38
Steven Aero ("SA") Groove480
GWS Formosa
Nitromodels P38 (was suppossed to be twin 25 glow motors, I made it electric)
House of Balsa ("HOB") P51 Mustang
ALFA models Saber F86 EDF
GWS TigerMoth Bipe.
SMW250
Those are what I have running right now. All brushless and LiPo powered. I have had a dozen other planes through out my 2.5 years of E R/C. (read that as "had" per my previous post, once you crash it...it is "had" not "have") Really if the crash aint to bad, you can repair them...never the same though...not always that lucky either...some crashes (most) are total write off. Lawn dart. Balsa dust. Bits-O-foam. "damn Tx!"
I'll fly most any plane in any wind...up to a point...say 20MPH or so. Now, that said, it isn't as fun. More of a fight. Thye really are best at dusk and dead calm. But any wind under 10 is fine. The 70+MPF Saber F86 will fly in any wind as it is so fast and sleak. The little 24" delta wing too...no problem flying that in gail force.
The P51 and P38 and Grove are better off winds under 15...but can and do fly anytime.
Keep in mind, the plances listed are not small, light, beginieer planes. Most are 45-55" WS. I did start out with an all included (Tx, batt, charger, plane) AeroBird. It was good enough. Got me going. Could handle the wind pretty well.
Maybe I should figure out how to poist a pic here and show a couple. If anybody cares/is interested. Nobdy minds. I'm usually at RC Groups in the plane forems. But they don't know nothing about RC cars over there. This thread is WAY more educational.

Well I have to say the pitts special is an absolute beauty to fly...but it takes more technique than driving in a way and is much more difficult. I f I crash my MT2, its salvagable. If I crash my plane...well, so far so good but I am very particular before I fly it and double check everything as if I was going into space.
The same with the MT2 aswell, but usually its OK. The OS you have is the...? And some of those planes you have are very nice indeed. Sorry to talk a bit off topic here. My main idea was the coparison of maintence and level of difficulty (for the mod).

haven't been on here in a while. almost 300 pages whoa! anyway i got two things to say, one is a question. i've added another truck to my collection since may 1st, it's an associated monster gt. i love it, and it keeps my mt 2 company. also got my digi a memory card so here's a pic of my growing fleet at the bottom. also here's my question. what is the part number to the little hex hubs on the mt 2? mine keep getting stuck in my rims, any way to prevent that?
edit
nevermind, the hex hubs were way at the bottom of my wish list on tower.
oh yeah, the mgt has revo rims and the lights on top work. also check out my spoiler on the mt 2. that was like the first mod i ever did to it, didn't like the stock spoiler.

Very nice indeed...welcome back to the thread.
How is the MT2 handling thesedays?
BTW, coohead, that EPD8 flyer goes in 20mph winds and does about 70 ~ 90mph on a downward run. Its cheap but very cool for a park flyer.
back on the topic, I have just balded my dirt bonz tyes near the front as the tyre pins are so thin that they wear out so fast. Who is using sturdy tyres good the track for HPDirt, and a set for loose tracks. Redfox, what ttyres you running?

mt 2 is holding up well. just needs a new clutch, the racing clutch has seen it's end. well not really, just needs a new spring and it's good to go. this winter it's going to get some hop ups.

Nice GT. What happen to the clutch spring? Don’t you have to buy the whole clutch to get the spring? I need to check my clutch as I have well over 5 gallons off run time and do not know when the last time I looked at it. I all so am running the race clutch on my MT and Rush. Has been a great clutch.

i got the racing clutch too.
next time i pull the engine for something.
i`ll put it in.
i don`t like the way the stock clutch grabs.
quick question. does the racing clutch
grab quicker. (lower rpm)?

The HPI race clutch has several settings. On my MT I never ran the normal clutch as my MT came with the race clutch in the kit.

Never tired but being the rotary carburetor opens and closes but rotating and the slide carburetor opens and closes but pulling and pushing I would have to guess it would not. Now many things with enough modification can be made to work.

i never opened the bag. just threw it
in my parts box. after checking the part number
of course.
hey burning up.
why don`t you get a new plastic socket.

yeah, it grabs a little bit better than stock. plus you can modify it to grab harder too, says how to in the instructions. pretty good clutch. i dunno if you can buy the spring seperate or not. i gotta look into that.

hey guys , just a couple of questions 4 ya over here in hpi land!!! I sold an mt2 rtr to a friend of mine about 2 weeks ago, i sold it to him due to the fact the engine was gone in it ( i bought it this way and never spent the money to put a new mill in it , so i never really got to drive it all, the guy i bought it from had it for about a month and didnt break the engine in right so it went to nitro heaven early lol ) but anyway he had me put a O.S .18 in it and it runs great well he wanted more top end so we put the two speed in it, we got it too shift like twice when we first put it in and ran it the first time and that was with the soft spring in the 2nd gear now it wont shift at all and i have tried everything with it ...... i do know how all this works casue i run my NTC3 with the 2 speed in it weekly and compete with it from time to time ..... so im not a newb just not tooo good with hpi....... soooo does anyone have any tricks or tips for this 2 speed to get it working or any ideas what it could be????

yeh i have tried the adjustment screw and have changed the spring that comes with the kit ( it comes with a stiffer spring for use with a bigger engine) and i have put it in and adjusted it from top to bottom in 1/2 turn incremants and still nothing soooo hmmmmmm........................................... ...yeh

The only other thing I can recommend if no one else here can help is to call HPI Monday. Do let us know what you find in case any one else runs in to the same problem.
Good Luck

Ill take the bait thats offered - bite...[X(]
Welcome to the thread as such.
If you are familiar with the 2speeds from other trucks and cars...then the HPI version is no different in that regard. I would perhaps suggest that you take it out and look to see if its getting stuck or is stuck due to over adjusting it - has hapened to me with my revo 3.3 as I put in a new .26 iin there and there fore had to change the set-up a little and it was slightly over adjusted and consequently got stuck, so it was only running in second gear. My 2speed is a wolf pack radicals and is essentially the same as any other in some ways.
Also you engine may not be building up enough rpm to change gear anymore...? What wheels and gears are you running BTW?
Your spring may be cought or the little ball under the spring may be pushed too far in? Its hard to say as I cant see what your talking about. But the 2speed is a VERY simple device with essentialy very few moving parts, therefore there is not much that can go wrong with it.
Things that effect it:
1) SG 2) CB 3) wheel size 4) engine size and configuration 5) 1+2= no rpm if the sellection is not matched to your engine and the trucks use.
What is your gear sellection?
What is your wheel diameter....?
What is your slipper set at?
What is the condition of your clutch?
IS there some drag on the drive train that is slowing the the truck down stopping it from reaching the right RPM?
You really need to give more information as what you have said is not much really...but ill try to give more info later when there is more to go from.
Or call HPI and try to get some info. Or you can take it to your local Hobby shop and show him...?
