I just got a nitro mt2 and got it started once in my garage but didn't drive it do to the snow and now when I try to start it the starter slips. I've taken out the one one to clean it at lest 3 times and that only helps for 2-3 pulls. What should I do now?

my brother just bought an mt2, and we started breaking it in, but we had some problems. His glow plug wore out really fast, so we went to our hobby shop and got some lightly used ones, because they didnt have any new ones. We put them into the engine, and it started up but instantly went to full throtle, and stayed there no mater what we did. we pulled the throtle back manually, and nothhin. We run 20% tower fuel. I couldnt figure it out untill i thought of the glow plugs. Could this have been the problem and if so, what temp and brand of plugs should I buy. Thanks in advance for the help

sounds like its running really lean or your carb needs to be adjusted man. If its just the stock engine any medium/hot plug should work just bring the old one to compare. I like the o'donalls plugs they seem to last or the os plugs. Just make sure its not a turbo plug.

Check to make sure the idle screw isnt turned all the way in and then check the throttle linkage. Post some pictures of the set up if you cant figure it out.

n315on, more the likely the OWB is cracked. Take it out and check it for cracks in the outer case, they might be hard to see so looked carefully. The OWB only last so long, so its probably time to replace it.

Turn the TX on first then the RX and check the linkage and make sure everything is working properly first. All so take the air filter off and check the above as well and your idle setting.

Thats not the one. You want this one, rotary carb is alot better otherwise you have to buy the linkage etc. This is the one I'm using, you wont need the collet or anything. Smack your flywheel on and the extension bit that the clutch bell sits on and your ready to put your clutch shoes on. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHLV9&P=0

thats not the right one that one has no pull start and has the wrong crank you need the tz-tx that comes with a pull start and the short crank.

i put that duratraxx lightned and vented flywheel on mine with the savage clutch shoes seems to be working great. The revs are alot faster with the duratraxx flywheel and its balanced really well not like that cast aluminum hpi one. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXESB3&P=7

Ill post my setup KeithjV

Engine: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHLV9&P=0
Flywheel: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXESB3
Clutch Shoes: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLST3
Pipe: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCPX4 or http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXPNB9
Header: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXFAZ9
Carbon-Graphite gear boxes: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXTSZ2
OFNA Linkage set: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXARF2

Thats my engine setup, I'm running 15/49T Gearing. I am using the THS Pipe atm as it seems to bit a bit quieter and seems to give it a bit of good top end. The Hpi seems to be the same but a bit better on the low end.

I use the carbon gearboxes as the others will flex a bit. I have the 18SS+ so I have the HD Diffs, Cups, Dog bones (you will need them). Grab a few sets of extra gears aswell cause you will strip them fast. On the engine shaft you will see a black nut, remove it but leave the drive washer which has some corrugated bits on it. You won't need it at all, slam the flywheel on and then this (would have come with your MT2) http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXM720&P=7, then your clutch shoes, if your using the racing ones I like to use the hole closest to the end as it gives it better punch.

Your disc brake may come in contact with the flywheel though as mine did but it wore down in a few runs (it was only slightly touching).

You will have to mod the header for the O.S as I can't seem to find any other header that will fit nicely with the MT2. The pull start will hit the pipe header so I just used a linisher for 20 Secs and sanded it down.

Its a lot of fun when you have it fully uprgraded though. I think I spent around $400 AUD on it for mods. And another $120 a while ago. But good luck. Most of these guys on here helped me so they will be able to help you. I am going to slam my .28 Aluminum pipe on there on the weekend, I heard that the TZ likes the BB pipes. Ill see how it goes.

Also, I found these a few days ago while browsing for TVP's. They are much cheaper then the eBay ones. http://www.innovative-rc.com/index.p...aee8c37edb3815. I am going to pick them up when I order my TVP's.

46, Are you able to link me to your header and pipe? I am looking at getting a Picco P3 .28 this week for my other savage, either that or I will keep my Nosram .28 and slam a few Innovative LCG TVP's and losi shock conversion kit (Im running the losi shocks into modified arms atm)

hey, i'm a noob on here but have been lurkin around every now and then. i'm 22. i run a mt2 i got a few years back, but also have a stampede xl5 and an old blackfoot and monster-beetle.
i've ordered a new 100cc tank and some replacement gears and such for the mt2, but am not sure about any engine upgrades...
i got a new filter for the engine and was thinking about the duratrax flywheel, but will the flywheel help the t15 engine much?
how about a better head/cooling fin? (my first nitro so i'm not all up on the lingo)

In your case I think you should get the os 18 cvrx its a really great engine very user friendly and lasts a really long time not to mention the huge powet increase from the old t15. Its a direct drop in engine to top it off. You can usually find them for about 100 dollars. http://www.osengines.com/engines/osmg2105.html

I would look into better clutch shoes. Either the HPI racing clutch or even aluminum shoes. With the extra power you will want the better clutch.
Which bearing are you referring to?

The bearing for the CB is going to depend on the CB that you use. I would go with a hardened one which will use regular bearings not the needle bearings.
You dont need a fuel primer but it certainly cant hurt. Ive seen a few nice ones in some of the pictures on here but Im not sure what brand they are.
