well it has been a LONG time since i last been on this board. MT 2 was my first rc i got last december. since then i have gotten two other R/C's, a monster gt and a hyper 7. also, my gf got an ofna lx comp 2. so now im back on the mt 2 and ready to upgrade again. i was thinking of doing the big block conversion, but then i thought against it. i seen a couple pics in this thread of the mt 2 that crashed with the big block in it. besides i dont wanna upgrade too much stuff on it just so it can handle a big block, thats what my mgt is for. so i'm thinking of getting the .18 tz-tx. are the threaded body shocks worth getting for the mt 2?

As regards the HPI threaded shocks, I run these on my MT2 and can certainly recommend them....they are not just 'bling', they are fully adjustable and extremely durable - haven't broke one yet and have certainly given my MT2 the works on my local track. However you might want to hold off until you get the rest of the engine/drivetrain upgrades you are thinking about for you MT2....in the meantime, if a plastic shock breaks, its pretty cheap to replace and they are pretty durable anyway!

Yes the TZ will be more power then you will need and will test ever bit of the drive train I know this for fact as I have one in my MT! I run the stock shocks and other then bending to shock shafts I have no complaints. Never ran the threaded shocks and they do look nice I just hate the extra weight.

I'm sure a few people probably have tried a TRX3.3 in their MT2...
However for the price you pay for a TRX3.3, you are much better off getting either an .18 OS CV-R or .18 TZ...either will work out cheaper...performance of the CV-R I would estimate to be approx equivalent to the TRX (maybe the CV-R has a little more???) and the TZ will totally blow the TRX3.3 out of the water!

You definitely better upgraide that truck! I'm recycling drive train parts pretty frequently with the CV-R in my MT1. All stock drive train. I've bent about 3 drive shafts and destroyed a rear diff. Also spun a hex in a wheel and the rear axle stub slots are started to open up from the dog bones tweaking them. Luckily I have a big stash of MT replacement parts. I'll be upgrading to the 18ss kit here soon and just selling off the hpi 18ss motor.

yeah, i already have the 18 cv-rx and a .15 cv-rx. been had the heavy duty gears, but haven't installed them yet since the stockers haven't took a dump yet. i'm gonna get another stock body and paint it though. when i first got the truck, i got two bodies a couple months after i got it, one was a chevy body the other a hummer body (both hpi bods). they came out good, but the stupid hobby shop owner didn't tell me that the paint i bought WASN'T for LEXAN. even after i told her i was painting A LEXAN BODY. two bodies wasted now. if you ever come to milwaukee, AVOID HAPPY HOBBY AT ALL cost. everything in the store is old, she even has a very old mt 1 racer kit for like 400 bucks, everything is dusty, and she's the only lhs owner i know that walks barefoot around the store. well she does live above it so.... back on topic now..... right now i have the tsais custom side exhaust on now, so i was checking out other pipes. why did they discontinue the cvec pipes? almost forgot, my friend had a rustler with the 2.5 in it, and i still beat him with the .18 cv-rx.

I'm thinking of getting a LRP in about 2weeks now. Have you got the LRP.18 or .15? if its the 18 let me know how it runs and if you've got a camera get a video of it running i want to see what it is like. also let me know how it is to tune ect.
I got my TSAIS PIPE TODAY!! & Dynamite Micro Failsafe
The cars performance on takeoff and top-end is so quick and nippy now and that is with the sluggish t-15!
I'm so happy. Its not tuned properly yet. Going to fine tune is tomorrow and the tires should be here tomorrow. Don't know when my shell will arrive though

OMG guys...
So I've been sitting here waiting for my manifold bolts to come, and they finally did, I JUST got in from running the break in tanks with my MT2 and .18cv-rx combo, I fueled it up for a fun run and the thing took off like a f**king rocket! that .18 is hella fast! Thanks for the help...
what do you guys estimate the top speed is for an mt2 with the .18cv-rx? jw...
also... come christmas, I'm getting the HD gear sets, graphite shock towers, aluminum c-hubs and carriers, and a new throttle linkage set (right now I just have a bent paper clip, lol, but it works JUST as good). oh, and failsafe, I'm currently awaiting the arrival of my 1400mAh RX pack (6v), and after that i'll be set for a while, until i have to get more gas
i'm down to my last 2 tanks in my can... damnit!
What else would you guys reccomend that I upgrade now that I have the .18? I'm thinking of picking up the TSAIS silver bullet pipe, and some dirt hawgs... suggestions? Any help is GREATLY appreciated! Thanks in advance!

P.S, what else would I need to upgrade to 18SS standards? I forgot, lol sorry.

I have been skimming the new post from today and here is my opinion on some questions asked as well as things said. The Traxxas engines are very fast but lack torque. I will not say any more at I am not getting in to a flame! I raced my MT when it still had the OS .15 CV-RX in it at our local track. Being we did not have many racers or classes they put me in the stadium truck class that ran both nitro and brushless. I won about 50% of the races even thaw my truck was more then likely the slowest one there, as all out speed is not what wins races. Consistency, the driver and keeping it on rubber does. Yes slow is fast lots of times.
I do not breaking in any of my engine buy idling tanks of fuel through them. Yes on my STS D21B I did do some short couple of minutes of idling before doing my running break in but not tanks at a time or more then a couple of minutes at a time. The reason being the pinch was so tight on it. Most of my break in I fire it up and once it stays running I start running it. We know that a nitro engine when broke in and tuned for performance is bad about loading up setting still just think on a new overly rich engine and this puts a lot of stress on the rod as well as other parts.
Pipe right now with my TZ I am running the Associated RPM but plain on trying HPI new pipe when it is available at Towers. If I do not like it I will get the OS T-1040 R70. There are a lot of good pipes out there.
Speaking of the HPI MT1 Racer that is what my MT started life as years ago.

I didn't idle tanks, I did a slow tank, screwed in the tuneing screw, ran a little faster lap, screwed it in, ran a final break in lap, got it REALLY leaned out, and hit the gas and it FLEW down my driveway...then my tire fell off! lol...

i got the "nitro devil" rear exit pipe. and it sounds so nice lol as-well as performance. now i know not many people like this pipe but omg it is really good. also before i bought it i was thinking what happens if i jump and it lands on the back...well no problem because the exhaust is set further back than the wheels so its all good.
Ive just finished fine tuning and this is not a joke I'm being serious the thing is wheel spinning on all four wheels and I'm loosen grip lol. and Ive popped a few wheelies not for long but the front does sure lift up and thats with a hpi t-15. god knows what will happen with a lrp.18
my car is starting up alot easier now. So it looks like im out all weekend bashing as i have not run the car for 3weeks now
p.s my wheels are here so im going to glue them late tonight and leave them to set overnight to be safe

djheptic, which tsais pipe did you get? i got the badboy side pipe, has a nice growl to it with the .18 cv-rx.
