All HPI MT’s are made for what is called a small block, which now goes up to .18. The engine you are talking about is a big block and I am sure with enough modifications and the right now how as well as tools and machines it could be done. But it will not be easy. I have seen MT’s with the .21 and I think there is one place that makes mounts to do so. Bottom line it can be done but will take a good bit of work. [8D]

As most that have been keeping up with this thread know I have a MT Racer I built. Being I have much money in it and do not want to up grade to a MT2 yet as well as have all most no run time on it I am up grading it the best I can. Will I was thinking it would be nice to have a bigger fuel tank so I check and saw the part number for the MT2 fuel tank and the MT Racer had the same part number for the fuel tanks so I thought the 100cc tank would fit. The only difference between the two is the MT Racer comes with the race tank with out a primer. Stupid me did not thinking they might mount different!

Well I received my longer rear shocks and the 100cc tank to day and guess what they do mount much different on the MT2 and the MT racer! But I was not giving up with out a fight. After doing some modifications I got it to work and here is a picture below. There are only 2 concerns I have with this modification.

The first is I had to cut off one of the mounts to the upper deck to the lower deck where the original tank mount was and two the fuel tanks is close but not touching the silencer. It is not touching even when moving it because of being rubber mounted so I think this will not be a problem. As far as the mount for the upper deck I am considering making a mount with a spacer.

Now to see how the longer rear shock are going to work, as I have not installed them yet.

The wheel is an IMEX Romulin - has a .25" backspacing, and the wheels come with a 14mm to 17mm Hex adapter.

I am waiting to put the rear stuff on until i can get a rear aluminum a arm mount so i can do it all at onece

I tried a light flywheel one time on my Nitro Rush and it does make it turn up quicker but lost too much torque for off road for me. Let us know how you like it. [8D]

i dont have a problem with the tires rubbin.

I like the lighter flywheel. I am useing HPI Racing clutch with it set to the highest rpm setting to help with bottom end. It does make it wind up faster. The only draw back that i c is that it is kind of a pain to keep a desent idle beings that it is a little lighter.

I ordered 2 sets of those new gears from tower. They are not in stock yet so i will have to make do with the lighter duity gears.
I am going to try out the new quick pit roto starter too. The one with two electic motors and dual batteries. My roto starter works but the button sticks some times.

My Nitro Rush has the HPI racing clutch in it set up to come on in higher RPM but I still did not like the light flywheel. Guess it has a lot to do with how you drive and where you drive. I drive mostly on grass so I need the torque. My MT Racer came with the HPI racing clutch and I have all heavy-duty drive train including all the heavy-duty differential gears.

It all so has all the universal drive shaft from the gearbox to the differentials. It came with the MPI shiny CVD kits. It has all the heavy-duty joints where the CVD go in to the differentials. The only alloy parts I have are the ones that are known to break, as weight is horsepower. The alloy parts do look good.

I just put the 100cc fuel tank and the MT2 rear shocks on today. I thought I had about $850 in it but just looked at my list and I have over $1000 in it. Jbooker82 I know you are going to have a wade in yours. Post some pictures when you get done.

yes i use diff oil in my mt2. someone asked before in the thread and i replied. you put it inside the actual diff not the outside case. i put a little gasket maker on my diff case but you dont have to. it will not sling out. i believe i used 30,000wt the more you put the more locked it will be the less you put the more slipage you will have. i put about 3/4 to full in the rear and 1/2-3/4 in the front. works great and makes a real diffrence. sorry for posting so late, been busy and have not been reading the thread.

Running off road what camber front and rear seems to work best. For any one that might not know what I am talking about chamber is the wheels leaning in at the top, which is, plus camber and leaning out at the top minus camber. I wouldl think some plus camber would be best? What do others think? [8D]

I am trying to get a humvee body for my truck. Not a H2 or H1, a military humvee shaped body. I would prefer it to be clear, camoflouge painted, or dark green. I've looked around a lot but still haven't found what i wanted. If you find one, could you post a link to it.

Looks nice but I go throw bodies like some drink water so I do not go for anything fancy. All so if I want a car I will build a car but I run a truck so I want it to look like a truck. Each to there own and it does look nice.

Where or who makes boddies like that. I am not forsure who makes bodies that fit or work with the MT-2. The only ones that i know of are the three or four ones from HPI that are regular truck bodies.

For just replacing what u have you probably stirpped the gears in the diff.

You wont have to have the diff case. I bought one so i could get the shims that come with it. If yours is like mine you will find no shims installed from the factory, and the gears will be stripped or rounded off only on the tips. The gear mesh is to loose and the gears wear out prematurly.

Hpi is comming out with some heavy duity gears if you want to up grade to these you will need the following parts.

The drive cup i cannot find yet, but the HPI part number for that is 86341.

HPI's 86329 gears look like they would drop righ in. They look the same as the factory replacement parts. It says that they are taller gear ratio though. Different gearing option if you were running a stout engine that could turn the gears.

Grantothismo, that body is a beast, my neighbor has a cuda, one mean machine. Coburn, what do you think of the THS pipe, does it perform better than the stock, and in what ways, also, what does it sound like, louder or quiter, different noise?
